Met Maynard here in Tucson at whole foods when he was selling his wine...funny because i was like the only one who didn't mention tool and just asked about what was in the wine and the guy was like you know what man here take the bottle and thanks for not making me feel like your only here to mention my effin band...lol pretty nice guy.
I love how real Adam is. He knows it's not a serious interview, it's just phony MTV bullshit. You can see how he doesn't even want to be there. And then he starts talking about geometry... You gotta love him.
I love that they both did that too. Honestly, it feels better for both for him to be respectful. Being pretentious even if it's way on the down-low, makes shitty energy & you have to sit there waist-deep in it with the dude until the interview is over. I cant imagine doing dozens of interviews with the stereotypical jaded or elitist (condescending)mentality...that would make every interview a chore & a dread. I suspect these guys have taken enough molly & dmt to get that. I got it through being a Buddhist monk for a spell...meditation is a deceptively simple Tool 😄 but an awakening trip of its own when done the way the Buddha described it. ❤️🙏🥂
A.G. You gotta understand though, that was back in the early 90s when the word “metal” referred to all the hair glam stuff like Motley Crue, Poison etc. That’s what Adam hated. He loves what is considered “metal” nowadays.
everyone is shit talking the interviewer, but he was clearly just a 100% pure fan and was doing his best to do his job while not disrespecting a couple of guys that he clearly respects and is excited to talk to. it's not a podcast, he actually has to get a couple questions in for the show. would love to see you fucks lead an on camera interview.
@@drucru4998 dude you have put so many stupid comments. what are you playing at? you should look up how to troll people because you're really bad at it. sorry.
Damn. He's so right about it being hard to switch a lot in a set between clean vocals and heavier. We didn't have a whole ton of content in my old band back in the day so I had to kind of make a decision and went ahead and sung most of the songs using extreme vocals. Sometimes live I would have to forgo a clean vocal part on a couple songs if they came later in the set. I was lucky though and my scream over the top of the section sounded pretty good too.
You're so right..He is a nice guy and highly intelligent. The idea of meeting and talking to a rock star is exciting and intimidating to the average fan. Professional journalists need to curb these tendencies and conduct themselves in a friendly but professional manner to get a revealing, and successful interview. I was blessed and met Ronnie James Dio in 1997 Prov. RI. Of course I was excited as hell, no pun intended but still conducted myself in a clam state of mind. We spoke for 30mins.
I was ass backwards. Back in the day the Tool vid’s turned me off to them. I just didn’t like that Brothers Quaid style stuff.. Then years later A Perfect Circle came out and I feel in love with them, which made me appreciate, love and turn into a big Tool fan.. I’m such a tool.
zane low is awesome, he was clearly nervous interviewing his favourite band who famously dont do interviews. i mean listen to his interviews now, his radio show is one of the most important tools for great music in the uk at the moment, cut him some slack
Love it. You got overly sarcastic humorous MJK, and Adam who looks like he's way to preoccupied with yet to be made stop-motion music videos in his head lol.
Well, you don't need the charisma of a car salesman to write intelligent lyrics and create weirdly addictive music. I love how they're so clearly not thrilled to be there, LOL.
huh, Ive never seen such a nervous/enthusiastic interviewer, he's a bit annoying just cuz he repeats himself, but its refreshing to see a interviewer thats so comfortable with his personality that he doesn't feel the need slow down with his questions
@@wuxiagamescentralMaynard would make me nervous too. A Perfect Circle and Puscifer are good bands, Ive listened to them and bought tickets , but Tool is legendary. So there I was, three knuckles deep in my own butt, when Maynard suddenly jumped into the dumpster I was living in. He praised me for not asking him about his wine or Tool or anything, then invited me back to his home where he assured me that I had 100% access to all of his personal information. He even let me piss on his kitchen floor because of how I never asked him about A Perfect Circle. Then I got to sleep in his master suite (he insisted) while him and his family slept outside on a pile of rocks.
I basically first heard of tool and saw bits of their videos the same way I think a lot of people did and that was back in the early 90s on Beavis and Butt head. That was when Tool first came out and few people had ever heard of them. I think they owe a lot to the Beavis and Butt head show.
The thing that makes an interviewer bad is when he talks more than the person that they're interviewing. That's most interviewers. It's about them, not who theyre interviewing. When a fan of a band listens to an interview, they want to hear what they are a fan of, not the guy interviewing them. This guy is a toothache.
Zane asking Tool if they initially liked Guns n Roses might be one of the dumbest nonsensical questions I've ever seen an otherwise good interviewer ask Tool.
It would be awesome to be an iterviewer, and meet the people. But the thing is, almost every interviewer ends up being awful at their job. the interviewer seems a little eager, but he's actually kinda having a little bit of fun here. maynard is actually riffing with him when he makes jokes, instead of just responding with the awkward somewhat-pause thing.
