I have both companies' watches, both excellent, to have the Addiesdive in hand....whew! Pictures and watch reviews do it no justice; absolutely beautiful. On a recent vacation, I took 4 watches. This was one of them. Hanging out with the same people for a week, only one noticed my old Rolex GMT, and even then did not make a big deal of it; when he saw this Addiesdive along with others, I received numerous compliments, and it started more conversations on watches and collecting. That's what watches should do. My vote is for the Addiesdive in this one!
I've been wondering what this Steeldive/Addiesdive thing was about. I wasn't sure if they were the same thing or not. Seems the Steeldive is a little better watch, at least in this comparison.
I'm still not entirely sure what the current relationship is between them & it's very difficult to separate these 2 but I think I would go with you that the Steeldive just takes it by a hair.
Excellent comparison. I guess in the year 2537 we'll finally get the answers our grand-grand-grand.. etc etc sons (us) wanted to know: Really, how close are Steeldive and Addiesdive?! What's the bloody difference?! Seriously though, as an owner of both brands (different models though) I think you can't really go wrong with either of these for the price point. The lume comparison was very interesting though. My SD Willard glows like hell in the dark with similar variations of lume type on the bezel and dial.
Haha yes you're probably right about that & I bet the answer will be 42 😅 As for the watches I agree both great value & solid build quality i havent had a bad one yet from either brand. Yes I'm going to nit pick but hey its what we do! Haha Thanks for watching & the continued support. 👍👍
Lume: Addies all day...er...night. I'd rather have the indices glowing than the bezel as on the Steeldive. I have an Addiesdive diver that I got because it was inexpensive and it has become one of my favorites. Extreme quality/dollar ratio. Excellent video!
I think a tend to agree with you on the lume, as for the watches overall its actually a tough call & is very subjective both are great value & well made, you're bang on about the quality/dollar ratio. Thanks for watching Brian. 👍👍
@@somewhereintimewatchreviews No problem. I would like the Steeldive you featured here, however, hopefully, my next acquisition, will be the Steeldive Submariner homage.👍🏾
Sumo wrestling ring, brilliant!!! I'm a little torn still. I think overall I like the look of the steeldive much better than the addies dive, the bracelet seems to be the deciding factor, the dial on the addies dive, while cool, seems a little rough to me for some reason. I know it's a bit textured but to my eye from watching this video, it just seems a bit rough and unfinished only way I can describe it, maybe it's just me. That said, the steeldive doesn't scream buy me either, though I do think it is the better looking of the two.
Haha yeah I prefer the steeldive bracelet, the textured dial on the Addies is very cool but really needs to be seen in person to really appreciate it the fact that they can do that at this price point is pretty remarkable. Like you though I lean towards the Steeldive which I will keep the Addies I'll probably sell as to if you would want one in your collection I guess that depends on whether or not you're a fan of the Seiko sumo, like the monster the Sumo seems to be an acquired taste. 😊
To be honest I was also a bit surprised with the 20mm lug width on a big watch, although the original Seiko sumo with these homage is also 20mm. But it does seem to work OK & doesn't make the watch look out of ballance at all imo. Thanks for watching.
@@pietroquatrini381 I have no idea sorry, I didn't try to swap the bracelets over, but there are many other options out there if you don't like the one it comes with, a lot if it is trial and error though
@@somewhereintimewatchreviews Ok thanks, anyway the shape of the watches seems the same I will buy the steeldive bracelet and then I will try it. Thanks again
SD1971 has amazing sunburst blue . Pity it does not have good lume . Other cheaper models - SD1953 SD1954 or SD1979 - have exceptional even lume as good as the best SEIKO divers . I have those 3 and lume rocks . I do not know why SD cheaped out on the lume indexes while pricing the 'SUMO' higher than other models ?!
thank you! I asked you the question because I have the addiesdive and the strap does not convince me very much and I wanted to buy the steeldive strap to put on the addiesdive :)
Yeah I wouldn't say that the steeldive strap is Aby better than the Addiesdive. A couple of places that might be worth looking at for bracelets is either Long island watch or strapsco both are in the USA but they do ship worldwide
very nice to see the differences 👌and of course Steeldive wins the lume Battle …. i still prefer the addiesdive , which i ve ordered, ( after i saw your review my friend )waiting for the package 😻 thanks for the video Adrian 👌❣️❣️❣️
The Addiesdive is very cool with that dial. I still can't decide if one is really better than the other, after all these comparisons are very subjective! I'm sure you will enjoy the whaleshark it's a very good watch & that dial is even better in person than on camera. 👍👌👍👍
Thats possible or the rehaut could be slightly bigger on the steeldive but I didn't go that deep into either watch for a broad comparison.😊 Thanks for watching.👍
Out of the two it would have to be the Steeldive. The other is just a Seiko Save The Ocean homage without the giving to charity, unforgivable. As ever with these brand types, great specs for the money.
Bracelets are different, dials are different, bezels are different & the lume is different!!! But other than that yeah the same......thanks for watching.

Awsome to see the differences. I have a few of both brands. I like them both
They are both good brands difficult to pick one over the other. So yeah get both...😁 I like the way you think.👍👍
Awesome job with the comparison, for me the steeldive is just the more polished all rounder out of the two and is the one I'd go for.
Yep agreed the Steeldive is the one that'll stay in the collection 👍

Just swop the dials out, would be a great watch SD with the addies dial.
Haha yeah I guess you could do that! 😊
I have the steeldive willard, which I bought a couple of years ago. It’s a great watch, either way.
All the best.👍🏾🇬🇧

Me gusta la esfera o dial del Adisesdive y el bicel del steeldive, al unirlos se vería un reloj genial.

The addies is doing what it does, but the sweatshop is the same it's directly across the street, it makes a sixth sweatshop brand.

Crazy how Addiesdive sounds like the original Seiko Padi. That's how Padi bezel sounds like.
It is exactly as: Duff, Duff Light and our new flavor Duff Dry
OK! 😂🍺

nice review but i couldn't figure out which strap you prefer, steeldive or addiesdive? Thank you
Both straps are pretty much identical & both come with pressed clasps I didn't really have a preference with the bracelets
Does the addies come with a milled clasp ?
No they both come with a pressed clasp
Wow the dissapearance of the lume on the addiesdive was magical, now ya see it now ya don't, lol. Def overall the Steeldive is the better watch imo.
Difficult to separate them overall but yes I would agree mate the Steeldive takes it.👍
Does everybody realize both of these watches are made by Steeldive up until recently. You are comparing the exact same watch with different logos.
Which I mention in the video!! So your point is??? 😆
Exactly what I said, you are comparing the exact same watch. There is no point to the video at all. It’s pointless.
But you still watched it & commented (twice) so thank you!! 😁
They arent the same.....different dials , bracelets and logos
The addisedive has better lume. Buts it’s the same exact watch.
Yes they both take inspiration from the same Seiko, so they both have the same case shape.
