2021 LDV Deliver 9 review: We load test the Sprinter and Crafter rival (Maxus Deliver 9)

- NOTE: We re-uploaded this video because there was a mistake in the previous version. The spec we identified in the previous video was incorrectly communicated to us by LDV. We've since edited this video to reflect the correct spec - the LWB mid roof - which still offers astounding value and plenty to like.

The LDV Deliver 9 - also known as the Maxus Deliver 9, if you live outside of Australia - is a large van that aims to offer huge value to commercial vehicle customers.
With pricing starting at below forty grand drive-away for ABN holders, it really does, er, deliver on value. But is there more to it than just a sharp pricing strategy?
With a range of variants including van models in mid- and long-wheelbase, two mini-bus options and a cab-chassis ute available, the LDV large van range is set to fight not just hard on price, but also on spec and range, too.
We drove the 2021 LDV Deliver 9 Long Wheel Base Mid Roof van to give you an idea of what this new model is like, how it drives, and also how it copes with a load in the back.

6:03 Not weird for the UK where lots of van drivers smoke in the vehicles. One of the reasons I would buy a brand new van in the UK is because it does not smell like cigarettes
Bloody awesome review. I've brought one and it's a beauty
Thanks Geoff!
Hope it's going well for you.
Matt
Have you figured out how to adjust the small blind spot mirrors? Mines a 2022 but I'm sure they're the same...
Hired one of these for a few days, very nice to drive and quiet and comfortable. Quite brisk for its power output and handles well. Only complaint I would have is it’s necessary to slam the doors to close them.
wow it seems to be great comeback of ldv in 2021
NOT LDV
Interior is exactly like an ford transit costume but better 😂😂👌
I also reviewed the Maxus eDeliver 9 (electric version) in my channel! I have to say it is very promising, but it seriously needs and identity of its own, because at first I almost mistook it for a Ford Transit. The van seems well-built, nothing in the interior wobbles, everything is solid. But the QUALITY of the material is a different story.
Hey mate! 😁 Please do a review of the all new isuzu mux 2021. It was already released in thailand. Thanks bruh!
Looked like it coped well with the load, definitely an option for someone looking for a less expensive cab, but who cannot use an older used van due to low emissions zones like London
Nice car
I'm seriously considering this for my van build. I've done some price comparisons with other vans. With this van, I can budget $15k and there's still a few a couple of $ks from the nearest one which was a fiat. Another person said that it feels very much like the Ford Transit when they road tested and because there were no Ford in stock, they decided to get this one instead and were very happy with it. With it in the market for a few years now, I'm sure they've improved on a few things. Once I get a remote job on a full time basis, I'll get one of this to convert.
I'd buy it.
I bought LDV V80 in 2017.
Pros:
1. Shape and size of luggage compartment. Perfect for work.
2. Higher ground clearance than any other commercial van I have seen. It doesn’t hit the curbs.
3. Price, very cheap (I mean purchasing price, in long run it is different)
4. Comes with two sliding doors at both the sides and barn doors at the back.
CONs:
Everything else. Too long to list here
Proof?
We're talking about the deliver 9 not the V80.
Im wondering if they could improve the door closing. Have to slam the hell out of the side door. Its very bad. I had a 2011 Nissan van and it had soft close.
Hopefully reliability will be good. The V80 was quite poor for reliability in the UK with many people having lots of problems in first year and even first few months
What was wrong with the v80? I have been thinking about buying one
@@hclandscapes many people have been saying that they have had lots of build quality issues. As well as mechanical issues. Also oil leaks. I'm not to sure about the brand new V80s as they might have fixed these issues. But a few years ago people reported problems.
LDV only offering Apple connectivity is a huge oversight. 2 androids to every apple phone sold and the gap is widening. Smarter to have both or just Android. This oversight is equivalent to making RHD cars only as the stats are similar. What were they thinking?
UK models get Android Auto and Apple car play
Guess one can order a UK version then since we both drive on the left side!
@@lillianlilo7447 yeah true
@@lillianlilo7447 now we just have to learn the MPH/KPH conversion
@@terrificspokesman7416 no it does not
So how many service centres are there
Here in the UK we also get andriod auto as well as apple car play
well damn, that sucks. wonder why australians didnt get it.
@@AridersLifeYT yes it's quite strange
Am guessing Apple pay LDV to include Apple car play as a last ditch effort to decrease their spiralling down market share whilst Android charge LDV as they have the lions share of cellphone market.
@@AridersLifeYT though you only get apple car play and android auto in the UK if you get the touchscreen because while in Australia you get the screen as standard in the UK you just get a radio and the touchscreen is an option
hello, please tell me how to check soh batteries on maxus
I hope they changed the door hinges from the maxus and clutch master cylinder oh and gear stick joint not to forget fule filter housing it looks like a van I've seen before Chinese are good at being creative and coming up with there own designers 😂
I'd like to know if the chassis is long lasting. I.e. will it last from offroad use? Will it rust if exposed to sea winds or water? Aluminium or steal structure?
Can it be upgraded to electric later?
PLEASE URGENTLY WATCH THE VIDEO BY JOHN CADOGAN CALLED "DON'T BUY WARNING: The truth about owning an LDV in Australia | Auto Expert John Cadogan".
@@randygoldberg8753 Thanks for that. I asked a guy a few weeks ago, and his complaint with them was that 'the transmission slips' ad-hoc. All up, it seems like 'poor quality control' across the whole product. with a thousand (?) parts, you might expect any number of problems, and come to expect insolvent local distributors, possibly with no recourse back to China.
@@AndrewSheldon Thank you. John Cadogan has done extensive work on investigating LDV. The recent Australian High Court ruling was that LDV are made from poor quality steel. The steel is both weak and it begins rusting immediately that the LDV's are made. Cadogan is an engineer. He made it clear that LDV vehicles should never be purchased in Australia.
@@randygoldberg8753 I get the sense the problem is wider still. I.e. in NZ, and online I find anecdotal evidence of transmission issues as well. Slipping transmission. There does remain a question as to whether these issues have been remedied. You might expect that to take time. I don't know the age of the vehicles concerned.
Whats the story with the frnt camera?
Are they going to be reliable or it be spending g more time in repair shop
Why don't any reviewers talk about reliability, absolutely the number one factor for just about everyone.
LDV is a windowless diesel bus🚐 so I highly recommend to get on the bus🚌 I highly recommend to get on the trolleybus🚎 on tram tracks.
What revs is it doing @ 100KM/HR please
Use a few of these in our camper company, spends 6 months of the year at the dealer due to gearbox issues and 3 months in rust repairs. Best to drive it into a ditch and claim insurance.
How many of the few you use have issues ?
Mirrors are VW Crafter. Inside cabin as well. So not only Ford Transit. 50/50.
I imagine there's a very good reason for it having a short warranty. Good and Cheap shall rarely meet...
Is this a repost? I've seen it before.
i think it is a repost...its either that or we both having deja vue
Have had many LDV’s now at work and they are impressive equipment for the money and replaced every few years anyway. Resale/trade in hasn’t been an issue for the boss because they get used. Hit with forklifts and driven by staff that don’t treat them like they own them. No major failures, the v80 is the oldest in the fleet 180,000kms - drive it to Sydney and back to melbourne easy. Noisy but it chugged along and was pretty efficient for high roof box on wheels. They have improved the deliver 9 so much compared to v80
Looks like a transit
It looks completely like a rip off ford transit from a distance
I honestly had to pause the video when you stated a service interval of 12 months/30,000km, that is quite frankly ludicrous, especially for what is a business oriented vehicle where safety is considered. I would suppose that that service interval comes with an asterisk denoting if you actually use your van within that period for anything at all then get more regular attention.
Thats correct
I had an iload and it noted that heavy or excessive duties, service intervals were half the kilometres and time frame as standard life
That's actually quite a short interval. Many new vans are 2 years / 25,000 miles (40,000km)
That will help sell a lot of replacement engines .
I prefer this - do most of the servicing your self (oil and filter every 10k kms) and take it to the stealership much less often while keeping your original manafacturers warranty in tact
my vito is 30k intervals
Wow it uses more fuel than my Ford Everest. 3.2ltr.
Yeah it's probably twice the size?
Apple phone check apple watch check ysl shoes check ldv van check something tells me apple fans aren't going to be wating outside ldv stores on lunch day
Bahahahaha!
looks so similar to a sprinter
Tyres look smaller.
when it is fully load the body will drop alot.
1.6t payload poor little baby van. Where's a test on the new 9speed ducato? Grab a lwb an throw in 3 three chep pallets with the 2.1t payload in your review video.
They’ve caused nothing but heartbreak and money to everyone that I know that has bought them as a courier van
Got to love the fact that he has made zero references to a Ford Transit, despite it being a blatant (poor) copy of one 😂
Pity! No suspension seats like in the Iveco Daily and the
Towing Capacity (braked) 2800 kg is way less as well by 400 kg
Suspension seats are amazing. Was driving our company's old sprinter and then tried the newer VW with the bouncy seat. I thought I wouldn't like it but I actually found myself searching for bigger bumps in the road to use the suspension!
Northcliff drive all the way.
2x voice drove me nuts I like the video up until then
Why would you do that ?
Just found out LDV is owned by SAIC the same chinese company that makes the new MG's
Wow
Verdict: good van for price, the van is good for light loaders like farmers or mail vans. But for tradies, it’s better just to buy a Volkswagen
Why it is very good van.
And the VW Crafter is DOUBLE the price in New Zealand. Imagine the value of the VW in 3 years time as a percentage. No thanks
Resale value would be poor .2litre would be reving hard to moove that hevy van diesel motor to small and underpowered so in time it would wear iut fast thay have lots of problems and consider the size of tbe motor fuel consumption is poor its a throw away van three years lets face it when spending 50 plus grand its a short term van .and he keeps going on about the price remember you only get what you pay for and its bludy loud in the cabin
who cares, you should have factored the price into your charge out rate over a four year period (life of the vehicle) as a business owner.
Why are cup holders at the back where you can't reach them?
Another chinese photocopy....
I thought it was toyota..
Advert infested with adverts FFS
No Android play?? 👎👎
Knockoff of a transit
transit rip off
My gosh that is one ugly ugly thing. Imagine having to look at it all day.. Did they get the cross-eyed guy from Ssangyong to draw that?
I think it looks nice
@@terrificspokesman7416 Well that's a good thing. Some guys also like fat chicks so beauty is in the eye of the beholder I suppose :)
@@CathodeRayNipplez Well it's opinion based
It looks similar to the transit
@@transit1199 I think it looks like a transit and a crafter combined
horrible van
too many problems
highly NOT recommended
Rubbish
Now put a caravan behind it.
