Mitsubishi Express 2020 review

- It has been a while since we’ve seen a Mitsubishi Express van on sale in Australia, and the one that has just launched here is a very different offering to its predecessor.
That’s because you could cover the tri-diamond badges on the grille or back door of the new 2020 Mitsubishi Express and be fooled into thinking that you’re looking at a Renault Trafic. Because you are.
The Express is a direct bi-product of the Alliance between Renault and Mitsubishi, and just like the Trafic, it’s made in France, at Renault’s Sandouville plant.
This isn’t a comparison - the headline isn’t Mitsubishi Express vs Renault Trafic - but the question is: why would you choose one over the other?

Got excited there for a second and when I realised it was really a Renault i thought nah, If the mechanicals were Japanese i might have thought about it but nah, my Dad owned a Renault and it was the biggest heap of
_ _ _ _ ! I’ll stick with my old 2011 Mitsy Express. Its a legend!
Renault, Fiat, Nissan and used to be Vauxhall/Opel before they changed track are all the same. Same engine gearbox interior everything apart from the badge.
i googled user reviews of the Renault, and its terrible. so its the same drive train and engine.
ok im sticking with the Transit or Hiace.
This model comes as Renault Trafic , Fiat Talento , Mitsubishi Express , Nissan NV 300 & was - before joining PSA - an Opel/Vauxhall Vivaro & if i remember correctly , Holden pondered getting the Vivaro into their line-up ...
Random fun fact: The previous generation Express was the last carbureted vehicle sold in Australia.
Just doesn't cut it with me. Why not option of two front seats so you could walk thru that's what a parcel driver wants when it raining.
It's not for me prefer Iveco, LDV or Vito/ Sprinter.
So, "it doesn't come with the option of rear glazed doors" - then shows a picture of rear glazed doors and later shows the rear doors with glass and wipers! ???
@Matt Campbell No worries Matt. Just caused my little brain to fizzle a bit.
The sound system is "basic"? Sounds to me like it might be a work vehicle rather than an upspec family car. I'd call that a safety feature, leaving out the distracting big screen.
And doesn't come with the added safety features mentioned? That might lead to businesses employing some drivers rather than steering wheel attendants.
So essentially this has positioned itself as a base spec downmarket Renault Trafic.
Does it have the Trafics fold down work bench middle seat?
You also didnt mention the phone holder is only suitable for Nokia 3210 sized phones...
I just bought a 2020 LWB Trafic, it certainly has some punch and with a plus 1000km range to boot, downside is the 3 year only warranty.
I drive a Vauxhall vivaro and I find the quality quite crappy it is a base model what I got but still and I find it is quite heavy on diesel and ad blue
And it’s not the most reliable van I have had now
It is nice to drive though
Is it Auto? How is that holding up? I hear every 20.000 klm problems with it?
adblue? its not even required why would they handicap their sales like that
Wow. Mitsubishi is growing but we all now its DNA is suppressed
This is completely irrelevant to the Express, but something i've always wanted to do is convert a van into an RV or caravan. That would be cool. Since this video was about vans, i'd thought i'd just say that.
Does the duel clutch has the same problems as the VW DTS?
how come they dont have this in the philippines.. why mitsubishi?
basic is SEVERELY underrated these days...
Is it the same transmission as Renault? I know they have problems with Renault . If it is stay away from it I’ll say.
Nope I'll stick with my mitzy L300 Express , it's very basic I know .
Mine has electric nothing so nothing to fail , can do a U-turn in one motion very tight circle .
Like my little mitzy and when she goes to van heaven my next van won't be a Frenchie in Kimono .
Thanks but nah ta very much.
Spot on mate, L300 owners are happy ones. Im a courier and i love how i can get in the lowest underground car parks. Ill never give mine up
Are all models front wheel drive? How does this go for durability and reliability?
@Matt Campbell thanks for your reply Matt
reliability? check out the horror stories on product review
I brought the hiace diesel auto, just better that all equivalent vans and has always been the choice
Is the engine Mitubushi?
Is it not called plagia?
Dont they still make L300s in the Phillipines?
How Much$??
Cup holders not big enough within folding down seats
i am in the Nethterlands. Model not available. So i had to turn to a Opel Vivaro, absolutely not my brand, im a Mitsubishi fan. But after all, the Vivaro is a nice van, but id rather had the Mitsubishi logo on it for sure. The Vivaro And Trafic are a all very well sold here, so i think Misubishi misses tons of changes in Europe.
Just buy a mitsubishi brand and stick it on. They are all the same van!
Why on earth would you buy this over a Ford Transit Custom? Custom standard has Sync 3 with Apple CarPlay, AEB, lane keeping, auto high beam, auto wipers, adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, heated windscreen, and front and rear parking sensors...
Because the transit custom is 50k and this is 38, plus some people might not want to drive around in a. Van with stupid stripes on it?
Transit good size van but useless small motor no good for Australia and all diesels min of 3lt needed.
As I look into adding a van to my business fleet, I was considering the new Express until I discovered it's actually a notoriously unreliable Renault. 😔
Wow 4years later have only seen one in our city ill take a Toyota HiAce every time 😋😋😋😋
I do not like renault but mitsubishi i like
So you’d buy the identical car out of the exact same factory in France just because it has three diamonds on its badge instead of one...? Weird.
@@froggy0162 Not weird. As I think the same.
Luke Hulse Umm. It’s still a Renault, so you can’t like it just because of badges.
It’s like buying a Lexcen because you like Toyotas.
Bring back the Delica, not people mover the van version!
4x4 would sell
Matt Campbell Renault make a 2WD “off-road” version for the European market. Higher suspension and an LSD.
Check out the crash tests for this van... it’s not good reading
I'm surprised GM hasn't said anything about the name considering they have a van called the Express
Mitsubishi have had the Express name on their vans for 20 years ?
H Maccas more like 40 years. Maybe longer.
It's funny because Renault also had a small van called Express (which became Kangoo in the late '90s)
Mitsubishi Express began in 1979 with the first Express vans under the Chrysler badge in Australia and the D50 Express ute to become the Triton later.
Yeh nah
It's a French Renault
Best is the best cargo❤
sell this in the Philippines pls
This just came out with a '0' rating on Australia's NCAP and the footage looks awful too.
So the same eng and gearbox as the Renault which have proven to be a big dog and lemon been numous reports of the gearbox (dsg) shitting it self after the warranty has conveniently expired resulting in a 8 to 10k repair bill also not uncommon for the turbo diesel eng complete failure or pooping in its pants again after warranty period .im afraid Mitsubishi will go down the same path as Nissan once a great Japanese car now turned into a dog and lemon or pos since it's alliance with Renault.Nice one Mitsubishi good way to ruin your great reputation
Nissan Mitsubishi Renault alliance
0 Star Crash Rating !
Ford Transit interior is way better
Why does the rest of the world get better Vehicles then we can get here in the US?
It’s the 25% “Chicken Tax”, introduced about 60 years ago that hits commercial vehicles. It means the USA didn’t get the Holden Ute though Holden tried to export it at times and now don’t get Thai built pickups (Ranger, Colorado, Hilux, D-Max, Triton). USA Built Ranger & Colorado introduced recently.
I would take your V8 powered Ford Econline Van over any of the vans offered here in Aus
I would take your V8 powered Ford Econline Van over any of the vans offered here in Aus
I'm planning to get one and hammer it to the ground.
I drive one for work the steering lock is sh##$$t mate compared to the Hyunadai,Toyota waiting for the boss to pisss it off
I got 0 in crash tests lol
Mitsubishi you have lost the plot
Mantull.... i like it
Basic infotainment, ugh!
Its a van not a luxury vehicle
Video just came out from crash testing and it scored a zero. A zero!!!!! Would not own.
