That scene of the father talking to his pilot son is a direct quote from interviews with family members. Apparently the father was a true monster - said unbelievable things to his kids throughout their lives. Donald kept his father close to illustrate thats all his early moves, like the hotel etc, came from the company money - essentially his father. The whole party showed trump moving from under Cohn to on top of Cohn, illustrated in their body language, in the things that they said to each other, and it finally culminated into the birthday party, which he threw to illustrate his position on top of Cohn. It was a way of humiliating cohn. As if it was like charity, including the fake cufflinks.
I watched this movie tonight and I thought it was pretty good. I think it did a good job at just telling a story without being too politically charged.
I saw the film as a character study of avarice, ambition and power. He leveraged his relationships with Roy Cohn as a mentor, and his own dad as a resource. I felt that when Trump felt he eclipsed his mentor(s), he quickly left them in the dust. Trump only reached back out to Cohn after his doctor told him he couldn't catch AIDS by casual contact, and knowing Cohn was on the ropes, Trump knew he had much more leverage in getting help with his criditor troubles. Even at the party (which struck me as Trump showing off how generous he was to this washed up old guy) Ivana confides that the "gift" Trump gave him was cheap knock-off crap. I didn't see it as an attack on Trump so much as a character study of ambition without an ounce of shame or introspection.
It never tells how Trump's older brother died. While watching this I assumed he committed suicide because he seemed very depressed when he goes to visit Trump for the last time. But then I look it up and he died from a heart attack which was induced from his alcoholism. It seems to me they left that out (or maybe I just missed it) because they wanted you to come to your own conclusion. But I did find the whole Trump and Cohn connection very interesting and it's not something I knew about Trump. After seeing this movie I watched some of the actual interviews with Cohn and man, Jeremy strong nailed it. It's also crazy how much Trump sounds like Cohn. They both attack and deny, attack and deny. Kinda ironic that Donald Trump stole his personality from a closeted gay man.
He was very smart and sensitive and had a bright future . He had a huge substance abuse problem and mental health issues and a sick kid. He was bullied terribly Trump's parents who were awful. Trump once said it was why he didn't really drink.
The first time I remember being aware of DJT was in the late 80’s (?) and the Donald and Ivana are at some swanky ski resort in Aspen (or somewhere) and On The Slopes Marla Maples confronts them about her affair w/ DJT! Ivana seems nonplussed and throws her wedding ring at her and says ‘you can have him!’ What a great scene that could’ve been; maybe if this was a more satirical film but this isn’t that. “It’s because of closeted homosexuals that we have Donald J. Trump.” -Nicholas Bell I definitely want to see this one. Thanks for the very entertaining & compelling review. They’re always satisfying!!🌈♥️👍🏼👎🏼🤷🏼♀️
I think the BW interview was also a nod to her relationship to Cohn. She was the only woman he "dated" long-term, even claiming they were once engaged (Barbara has denied this). I think the SA scene with Trump could be an assumption made from a past interview with Ivana in which she made a strange statement to the affect of: "But we were married so it wasn't rape. Marital rape also wasn't considered a crime until relatively recently in NY.
ivana said her husband djt rayped her in 1989 (claim was published in 1993); that's why the scene is in the film. ivana retracted the claim in 2015 when djt ran for potus.

After hearing you guys mention Roy Cohn often during this review, I thought you must not have seen HBO's, "Bully. Coward. Victim: The Story of Roy Cohn" from 2019, now streaming on MAX. DOJ regardless of being fired which wouldn't have happened Blackmail is still a crime especially inNY so that is very much a Fantasy of the writer . Plus if they lost that discrimination case the penalty would've just been a Fine to the state . I don't understand why this movie didn't show his at this his very Celebrity lifestyle at the time he Loved by all these people especially NY would praise his Playboy Buisness lifestyle. That part of his life is the most interesting part of who he was then. Crazy because Trump wasn't fat or orange when he was married with his wife .
Yeah it's a bit of an anti fan fiction I guess. Not to be taken too seriously...but I will watch it because I like Sebastian Stan in just about anything.
I couldn't help but feel that it left much to be desired. While the film does a decent job of showcasing Trump's early years and his relationship with Roy Cohn, it barely scratches the surface of the true extent of his manipulative and self-serving nature. It highlights how Trump used Cohn to his advantage, displaying his cheapness, womanizing tendencies, and narcissism. It's astonishing to think that a man who shows such blatant disregard for others, including his own family, could rise to the highest office in the country. The film makes it clear that Trump is a con artist who has managed to deceive countless Americans into believing his lies about almost everything. It's truly unbelievable that someone with such a lack of integrity and empathy could have been the President of the United States. "The Apprentice" serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of charismatic yet deeply flawed leaders. The fact that Trump continues to have a significant following is a testament to his ability to manipulate and con people, but it also highlights the need for greater awareness and critical thinking among the public.
Fred Christ Trump looks so much like the devil from Needful Things it is rather frightening lol... The name of this movie sharing the title of a movie about the devil and this fact is starting to add up. I am not religious but that's a lot of coincidences to ignore... Js
To be honest I kind of hope the Trump family all individually sue the filmmakers and the studio, as adding in SA and DV into a story that has never had any history of it, seems extremely disrespectful to the Trump family and Ivana's memory. ... can you imagine being Ivanka's kids and you see filmmakers writing a fictional account of your mother getting SA'd by your father? It would be one thing if this was an Ike and Tina situation, where it was well documented, but there has literally never been any accusations of SA or DV from Ivana towards Trump, so these writers just created a fictional account of it and are presenting it like "fact". If someone did that to the memory of my mother, I would sue everyone involved into oblivion!
@@Parisienne06 She literally recanted all of those allegations, Trump and Ivanka remained quite close right up until her end and considering the Trump camp are already starting the process of suing the filmmakers for portraying the fictional incident as "Fact" , tells you everything you need to know. This movie also talks about the "Orange Tan" but he wasn't doing that during that time, he's also an infamous teetotaler, so he was never doing uppers or downing decanters of Vodka. If he was taking part in those vices he'd be a lot slimmer, his vice is food and Diet Coke, that's why he is obese. It's complete nonsense and just a film made for people who watch The View and still believe in the long debunked "Russia Russia" hoax. ... if the guy was that bad, then you wouldn't have to lie about him, just state irrefutable facts with video evidence, in context, and that should be enough to "expose him" ... the fact that they can't do that and always resort to lying and embellishment, tells you there is nothing there. Literally everyone loved the guy until he decided to run for President, if he ran as a Democrat, they would be celebrating him.
Sebastian Stan is a chameleon. The guy has played Tommy Lee and Donald Trump and a cannibal and super hero.

I have read his niece's book, so I already know a lot about him and the family.
I will grudgingly see this film because my personal disdain for the subject. It will be interesting to compare the phenomenal performance of Pacino as the evil, vindictive, ugly queen, Roy Cohn compared to Jeremy Strong whom I also like. I’m going to see this thing with a very indifferent tone.
Kudos 4 making this sound like a comedy 😂😂
That’s the ONLY reason y I’d sit and watch a film about Donald J. Trump
I am still not going to watch that creature.
It is a dark comedy, comedy+drama
"Lies, lies and more lies"

JOSEPH , young Donald???? never looked better than Sébastien. Did you have a gummie or an 80s fetish? Because baaaaaaaaaby hell nah!! 😂😂
☠️
Jose Menendez not John.
I thought it was pretty good and insightful on many levels.
I want Nick’s intro of this film with the old 20th Century Fox logo music playing in the background.
I LOVED Border!!
The fact that Trump continues to have a significant following is a testament to his ability to manipulate and con people, but it also highlights the need for greater awareness and critical thinking among the public.
this link to angels in america play and movies too
I loved border !
I felt bad for Russell and Fred jr and ivana in this film
Accepting selective medical opinions is interesting. Which person did he ask advice about HPV? Xxx

"Root out the communists" oh. ok. I see where he got it from.
Fred Christ Trump looks so much like the devil from Needful Things it is rather frightening lol... The name of this movie sharing the title of a movie about the devil and this fact is starting to add up. I am not religious but that's a lot of coincidences to ignore... Js
I wonder if this movie is helping or hindering the election 🗳️…. 🤓
If trump was gay he would be a POWER BOTTOM 😁
What did power bottoms ever do to you?! Don’t drag our good names like that
@@Wraiven22 you seem very ANALytical
The very best bottom. A lot of people say so.
Are we really suppose to believe that Roy didn’t get anything from young dumb Donald?😇
When will this Trump pandemic go away?!? He's a virus on the world.
Great review as always. Im a trump supporter and cant wait to see this.
It’s giving Jose Menendez 😅❤

She literally recanted all of those allegations, Trump and Ivanka remained quite close right up until her end and considering the Trump camp are already starting the process of suing the filmmakers for portraying the fictional incident as "Fact" , tells you everything you need to know.
It's complete nonsense and just a film made for people who watch The View and still believe in the long debunked "Russia Russia" hoax.
... if the guy was that bad, then you wouldn't have to lie about him, just state irrefutable facts with video evidence, in context, and that should be enough to "expose him"
... the fact that they can't do that and always resort to lying and embellishment, tells you there is nothing there.
Literally everyone loved the guy until he decided to run for President, if he ran as a Democrat, they would be celebrating him.
Her name isn’t Ivanka, and she did repeatedly claim he SA’d her. She only recanted it much later in life.
