3:23 AM in Oregon... Couldn't sleep, and now this. I am drooling.. time to hit the fridge and assemble a charcuterie board.
Warm regards to you from Baku, Azerbaijan, Mate!
I literally just told my husband and son last night that one of the simple joys in life is a lovely glass of wine with a bite of good cheese. I love that you can have similar experiences, like making a killer charcuterie, no matter where you live. What you showed here was the experience many will have, which is to go to a local grocer, which again goes to show that no matter where you live or what your resources are, you can create the same delightful meal.
Wow! You two always go the extra mile but you’ve surpassed yourselves going all the way to Florida! Have to say though that the French board looked even better than the US one. Loved the look of the paté and all the cheese, oh and the roasted nuts!
cute boards, if you go to Trader Joe's they have a great wine called Pontificus from France Yummy!
Les Frenchies is one of the best RUclips channels featuring nice foods and experiences which are good and at reasonable prices. Very down to earth people. It’s so nice seeing them appreciate each other with date night. How romantic.
I have found their shopping suggestions to be reachable by most people who like things French but who might not be so fortunate to live or travel there.
I go to Paris annually and just returned after a two week stay. I walk, use the metro and love the bus system. Normal day to day things that I like doing. The charcuterie shops, boulangeries, etc are everywhere. Not so in the US except for larger cities. So we shop in places where that stuff is available like Trader Joes, Whole Foods, Publix, etc. Even in France, “regular folks“ buy stuff like that at local smaller stores like Intermarche and Monoprix.
I’m heading to Naples Florida on Monday. Not sure where Coleen and Antoine are but I’m sure they’re having a wonderful time together.
Bientôt…Josef.
Whole Foods croissants(the butter ones) are better than all of the bakeries in the 15th. Just saying lol.
@@yusefkhan1752 never had any in the 15th but I agree WF does have good croissants especially the almond croissants.
@@JD987abc I was lied to by france, they always bragged about their quality items but I found the majority of it to be just very low quality and not have a lot to offer.
Loved this! Just ordered my hugging boards and will be visiting trader Joe's soon! Thanks. Really enjoy your videos. Will be in Paris in July and am definitely rewatching your recommendations on where to stay between the Latin quarter and Marais...decisions decisions...
Did you find that there was significant difference between the cost for this in France vs the USA? I'm think this cheese and cured meat is more normal in France while in the USA these would be considered to be specialty items with a higher cost. Thanks for the great video. Hello from Canada !
In the USA it is imported food. In France, it's locally made
In France most of the meat is local, the EU norms are waaay more strict than the American ones and we have the french law as well that push it farther wich means we have good quality meat for a pretty fair price, if you go to a specialist the meat will be even better, but it's kinda expensive thus why we usually go for the retail store meat and cheese rathen than a fromager or boucherie
As a french parisian i think its a shame to showcase store bought plastic wrapped charcuterie. going to an epicerie and buying it fresh cut is rarely more expensive, causes less waste and doesnt encourage mass consumption. 🍄🌞
Good point.

Proud European.
@@LesFrenchiesTravel I watch many of your video, and as a french most of you showed is pretty good. I liked your video, it's really cool to watch. Keep it up !

@@edm.3484 you have obviously misunderstood the essence of this channel. So, no great loss you've opted out. Au revoir.
There are 2 Costco’s just outside of Paris. One is inside the outer loop north of Massy and the other is East of that. Also, good cheeses from France and Belgium (well, my taste buds think they are good) at Aldi grocery stores and Ingles Markets can be had in the U.S. I don’t work for any of them but my husband enjoyed charcuterie boards and I would make them up when he was in the mood. My grandson works at Costco.
While in Paris, I sure don’t want to shop at Costco when there are so many beautiful local merchants in any neighbourhood you stay in.
Merci Beaucoup for all of your videos, you make me very excited to go to France for my first time this May. You are both such a beautiful couple and if I ever see you in Paris, I will treat you both to a nice meal. Keep up the great content and your appetite for adventure and discovery. C'est la vie!
Both boards look fantastic! Thank you for the tips.
Yall are wonderful💕 Will be visiting in April. Your videos are so helpful! Thank you & keep posting 👏
Hello from Australia 🇦🇺 😊 👋
When I started watching your videos, which I enjoy so much, I never thought I'd see you shopping at the same Costco where I also shop! So funny! I've also been to that Trader Joe's a few times. Your videos are great. Thank you so much for sharing.
Why are so many of the comments just bitching about the American board?
This is like asking why Japanese ‘American food’ includes rice dishes 😂
You should ask Dr Oz how to make a Charcuterie Board in Pennsylvania - if he actually lived there...🍟
I bought your cute boards hope you get some kind of bonus:)) Thank you!!!
Wwhhhaaaaatttttt, you visited the USA and didn't visit. 😪
That was great, but the bread in France is wonderful and I find it difficult to find here in the US. I will be in Paris in June. Please let me know if you will be having an event or wine/food tour. June 19-26th. Thank you for all the incredible content! Hugs from Palm Springs
My French relatives like Iggy's bread when they visit the USA. They say it's the closest to French bread.
I think that Trader Joe’s is the perfect grocery store! This was a fun video! Thanks!
Every state has different laws about alcohol. No wine or beer in Costco in Connecticut where I live.
In USA the charcuterie would be full of chemical shit.
And in France they have a high cholesterol and heart disease. My French relatives are on their Lipitor. One even recently died of a heart attack....and he thought the red wine would save him. When I was there in 2018, there was a TV show about the rise of obesity and heart disease. They even cited the Framingham Heart Study. The French Paradox is killing them.
And in the US, we are just as guilty. The problem here is that SO many foods are made with hydrogenated soybean oil, that stuff is poison. We use all of the unhealthy oils in all of our food products. I only cook with olive oil, will occasionally use butter, which is not the best, but it beats the others.
Lower than in the US, actually.
American scientists called it the French paradox.
Charcuterie and cheese don't cause high blood cholesterol, neither does butter.
Merci beaucoup 👍👍👍💕💕💕
Good to see you guys shop at Lidl too :D
Yumm. I today have some Chateau Hautte Terres Bordeaux /white/ with avocado&sun dreid tomato sandwich. Treat extraordinaire! Life is good, life is great. I am greatful :)
Ah! You picked a great topic! I have always been desperate when looking American charcuterie board with only one or two pieces of charcuterie and tons of fruits or cheese.
After watching the video I regret that your French charcuterie board is so Americanized: some cheese, nuts, some Italian charcuterie… There are enough types of ham and salami types in France to remain there. And charcuterie is not limited to that. Yes you added the easiest-to-eat pâté, but there are other types, some terrines, pâté croûte, rillettes, not to mention other things like boudin, grattons, rillons…
And at the end it is great to learn that the American could make great charcuterie boards too.
@@LesFrenchiesTravel Indeed many options.
In a Parisian bistro, there are usually three options :
- charcuterie board
- cheese board
- cheese and charcuterie board
And yes Italy and Spain have great charcuterie. And other countries have some great stuff. But well if charcuterie is a French word, there is a reason for that. ;)
Love the this new content, Les Frenchies! How about some more French wine recommendations?!
@@LesFrenchiesTravel Either or both! I loved how you shared the bottle you were drinking with the charcuterie. I was able to look it up and find it so I can try it with my next charcuterie! 💕
Sorry, if you are going to make a charcuterie board, why are you buying "packaged" meat? I live in NYC. If you are making a charcuterie board, you go to a deli counter and get them cut fresh and serve them that day or the day after.
BTW, we cut the skin off the salami.
Charcuterie pizza recipe. 👍
Loved this and YES always a glass for the cook while creating!!
Thank you. It’s perfect idea for incoming Valentine’s Day at home.❤
Whaaaaat ? Not shipping to Paris ? At least a link to a Parisian store that sells them ! 😢
I love your channel! Having been in Paris and other top foodie cities in the world, the US have always had a bad reputation for the quality of their food; definitely the quality on many Old World countries is going to be better because food is an indispensable part of the culture; That being said, the US has great food also if you know where to buy and obtain your ingredients; I live in the US and I drink wine every day and cook delicious food, meaning not fast food or delivery apps; Wegman’s, Whole Foods and Trader Joe’s are phenomenal grocery stores in the US for that purpose🍷🥐🍾🥘🧀🍳🍝🍱🥖
You look liked Andrew zimmern😮
You two are adorable! Both boards look scrumptious, but I wish we could buy duck mousse at our US grocery store!
God you are adorable!
Yummy! We love to have charcuterie board when friends at our house.
Fun video. Notice the difference in pronunciation immediately...not surprisingly the French drops a vowel. Both presentations were great. When we grew up, everything was called hors d'oeuvre. No crudite..just vegetable platter. No charcuterie..just meat/cheese plates. Nuts went in bowls. Mom did make canapes...yes. Never thought about wine while prepping. Thanks, Antoine. Cheers to you both from Wisconsin 🐄
Grabbed a set of the boards to surprise wife. Thanks!
That looks wonderful. But I have to go to a small Salumaria to get quality meats here in my midwestern town. Even to get nice ham for Jambon Beurre. I culture some cream & make a dab of butter for it too. I make my own pork rillette. And we all love German Obatzda for a cheese spread, in addition to good sliced cheeses. The charcuterie is so versatile! Just be sure to use quality ingredients & most combos work, imo. What wine did you choose from Costco? I live near one.
I just love you guys. Such love in everything you do. ❤
Great content! Picked up 2 sets - one for us, and one to use as a house warming present.
et moi avec mon pain d'artisan, mon saucisson artisanal et mon pata négra :p
Guys, come on... No mustard in France? No small crunchy pickles? Anyway, I love your channel. Hope I'll see you one day when I m in Paris.
Two thumbs 🖒👍up for this episode these boards are one of my favorite things💙💙💙
Eat less. And eat less meat!
Hi Les Frenchies. I just ordered the charcuterie board set. A nice addition to my entertainment collection. Josef.
Thanks for the great video! I’ll take a charcuterie board in Paris over one here in Ohio every time! 😂 Regardless, I’ll be making one for my husband and I for Valentine’s Day! ❤
Yay! Trader Joe's 😊
Thank you for including us in your worl
Hi Les Frenchies! Love this vlog! Tried to order the boards for an engagement gift but there doesn't seem to be an option to ship to Canada? Is this correct?
I think the burger style must take inspiration from movies about Ancient Rome so they add fruits like fresh grapes cause they've seen Caesar eat them while lying down and it's "decadent".
They can't do anything without putting on a show and missing out on what's good.
The lack of pickles or olives in a country that consumes lots of those is crazy.
Both charcuterie boards look yummy but I love Colleen’s charcuterie board 😀
I Like your style, having a glass while preparing. Great Charcuterie boards!
I love your content that you put out . . . Keep up the great work
How cute! Date night!
How many years are you married? We are married 44 years!
Greeting from US Virgin Islands!
That American bread just looked flimsy, old, and sad. No crispy crust and the crumb was too dense without the beautiful large pockets of air caused by the long fermentation of sourdough.
Love this video. Merci beaucoup!!
Ordered! Thanks for offering them!
I do that for myself all the time BUT I have to be carefull..to much of a good thing (I'll be in Paris God willing in 2 wks) voila!
Colleen, the red looks stunning on you! So pretty!
American versions are so messy and everthing is touching. It's overwhelming and not pleasant to look at. Why so much stuff?
Americans would use garbage Kraft cheese. The french would find the finest gourmet cheeses available
When you come back can you go to : Au pétrin moissagais, in Bordeaux. He make bread with a fire oven.
thanks for the good idea to make a French charcuterie board~~~
The purpose of a board is to slice on it. It’s used when guests will be slicing cheese themselves, and it can’t be crowded. If the meats and cheeses are sliced ahead of time, any plate or platter can be used for serving. Due to bacteria and guests’ dietary and religious preferences, I don’t like meats and cheeses touching, and I like fruits, nuts, and crackers in separate dishes. They can be displayed together in an appealing manner.
1/ charcuterie and cheese is not food for a date night in france, and salty biscuit even less. What you have is an apero board, commonly eaten between friends while relaxing either at home or at a bar
2/ don't pre-cut the cheese, especially soft cheese
3/ mousse de canard is generally not great, better to get foie gras even if you have less quantity the taste make up the difference
Allez chez grand prix 😂😂une enseigne bifon avec des prix bidons mieux vaut Leclerc ou Lidl
As a curiosity it would be nice to know how costs generally compare from France to USA.
Thank you! Absolutely delicious to eat and gorgeous to look at.
Hi, do you have any recommendation which restaurant to have a nice & affordable dinner for valentine day in Paris?
Thank you
I wouldn't be able to make a whole charcutery board, as I'm eating while preparing 🤣
Never cut in 4 pieces a saucisson slice dammmm, always keep the whole piece as circle dammit ! :)
Some dried sausage skins are edible, others are not. How can you tell?
What about an electrical Food Slicer? You can slice all ingredients even thinner than with traditional knife.
wow that grocery store in France is AWESOME
Thanks for your video. Everything is of course a matter of personal taste. I much prefer French saucissons to all Italian salamis, or from elsewhere. When it comes to raw or dry hams, I like Pata Negra and Prosciutto di Parma, but also low-salt hams from Bayonne and Kintoa (Basque Country). I also love the French "paté de campagne"! As far as the cheeses are concerned, I'm very picky and my choice goes to French and Swiss cheeses only. Bonne appétit à vous deux
@@LesFrenchiesTravel Yes we are a spoiled society
Something that I always wondered about, as I saw in one of the last shots: I was told to get off the grass at Champ de Mars, nowadays I see all kinds of people cavorting on the grass...maybe things have changed in those decades?
Some are off limits, some are allowed. It's indicated. There is also a time of the year when the grass needs to rebuild itself.

Lovely idea for Valentines
Do you remember where you bought your cutting board with the olive dishes at the corners?
Love this video and love you two! 💖 Great charcuterie board ideas for a party of two to a larger gathering.
I'll take the US one. It looks sooo much better/more filling.
How do you keep the apple from discolouring?
You two are such a cute couple. I'm ordering mine today.
Looks yummy, but way too much salt. Can you make a healthy version some time?
Italians peal the skin off the salami before slicing it
You two are adorable
thank you ☺️

What a great video!
Thx U for showing this. ‘Cause when I saw your last Charcuterie board - immediately, I was like why do they put so little content on their? When u did this video it validated what I was thinking. Thx U.

Delicious 👍😋
Large glasses of wine are italian, not french. It is a faute de goût.
Je veux vous dire vous êtes Beaux et c'est beau de vous voir Amoureux même si je ne vous connais pas.
Met this gorgeous gal at Sal's Cafe about a month ago, on the home from work. Her double soy mocha with fair-trade cinnamon was a bit too fancy for my no cream, no sugar, no nothing French roast taste, but what the heck, we got along OK.
After meeting there a few times over the next few weeks, I invited her up to my place for a quick after-work snack, before going out to dinner and a show. Aha, but little did she know that, after *watching this video,* I had an ace up my sleeve! I went to all the little markets, to get the finest ingredients for my "date night charcuterie board"--and, of course, the best bottle of Bordeaux I could afford.
The big night arrives. She comes in, takes a seat. I offer her a glass of Bordeaux--only to learn that she doesn't drink alcohol. A bit disappointing but, OK, so I offered her a Perrier (glad I had it on hand!), excited at the prospect of showing her my beautiful charcuterie creation. I bring the board out, covered with a tea towel. I whip away the towel with a flourish, while in my best terrible French accent saying _Et voilà!._
Suddenly, a muffled shriek. Then:
*I'm **_VEGAN!_*
A charcuterie hero, on French bread, washed down with an expensive bottle of Bordeaux while watching _Dirty Harry_ didn't exactly "make my day". Or evening. But it was better than spending an evening listening to my newly-discovered animal rights activist.
I still enjoy my French roast at Sal's. I read the newspaper.
Sorry to intrude, but you don't go to a cheese store (fine or not) to buy charcuterie, you go to a specialized shop called charcutier (because charcutiers are those who make and sale charuterie). In fact, a cheese store selling charcuterie would be extremely suspicious to me.
And we don't put cheese on a charcuterie board, they have no reason to be mixed, unless this is an informal gathering. Else they are different stage in the meal: at the beginning and toward the end.
Crackers are not something French traditionally eat.
Not that what you did cannot be done, or is not delicious, but it is not the French way :)
@@LesFrenchiesTravel I started my remark when you mentioned the cheese shop, there are more butcher/deli in France than cheese shops :) My parents used to live in a 600 inhabitants tcity, there was one butcher/deli, 3 bakeries, 2 mini-supermarkets, no cheese shop (but South West is not a cheese region).
The rest of my remarks, were not so important as it is rather a matter of taste (I prefer my saucisson cut in thick slices)
You are lucky to find a wide choice of cheese and charcuteries in the USA, there are almost none in Thailand.
Wow great video ! HA ! Thanks for suggesting about making a Charcuterie board seeing that it’s Valentine’s Day tomorrow.
