This is an excerpt from the 50 minute lesson available on the jazzpiano.net web site titled: 'Blues Shuffles."
I am teaching the popular left-hand piano, shuffle pattern that is popular with blues and boogie pianists. The full lesson shows many variations on the basic pattern. This demo will get you started.

Thanks Glen! I appreciate and enjoy your videos. I'm wavering between diving in to blues or jazz. I think there are some principles that apply to both. Some days I feel like blues and some days jazz.

Learning to improvise over the blues will give you much application for jazz piano. When you develop left-hand, right-hand independence with the blues it will put you giant steps ahead in your jazz improv. Also the blues licks and scales can be used in your jazz playing.

I would like to ask you a little question. Talking about what´s the best for learning: Is it better to develop a complete control over the simplier left hand bass lines, like the walking 1,3,5,6 or 7th or the root-5th, root6th pattern (the basic one not the shuffle) with a lot of variations in the right hand OR begin with rhe SHUFFLE but with just chords, triplets or simple black notes only scales?
