there's a great book called "A Brief History of Nearly Everything" by Bill Bryson. It's a really big book so it's kind of an intimidating read, but it switches between scientific, historical, artistic, etc. lenses so seamlessly, so it has something for everyone regardless of what your interests are. It's a cool book to pick up and put down when you feel like reading a few pages.
