the only way people, this country, the entire world, can grow is by actually communicating with each other. its not easy, ive been trying to work on it myself. i often find myself just clapping back in the same passive aggressive way people occasionally approach me with in a disagreement. what does that actually accomplish? nothing. why is it so hard for us to be honest about ourselves and to other people. like how hard is it to just say, "Hey, this made us/me feel bad". and give someone the time to respond? maybe they meant to hurt you. but you may find that they didn't even realize what they did, or are dealing with some heavy stuff; and are sorry, and willing to make an effort to learn from it and GROW. it makes both parties grow. i just don't get it. This is why Shane Gillis is great. He hit the nail on the head. He is authentic. Extremely self aware and insightful and I think people may miss that his humour is funny to him as well because he knows how hilarious and provocative his comments are and he gets a kick out of being subtley sarcastic with alot of his views to get a reaction. It's almost like a form of sarcasm but he will double down everytime. Which makes him hilarious. He is that guy that is simultaneously pushing buttons but is also bullshitting you at the same time to see how far he can get you to believe what he's saying to see your reaction. Very intelligent guy behind the image of a non chalant "bully" style of humour. Which is why Trump is hilarious btw. We as a culture love bully humour for the sake of laughter. But the PC culture has almost destroyed it. So as long as Shane Gillis doesn't change and doubles down then he can't be cancelled and I'm spreading his name to everyone I know.
I agree, he seems very smart. He does the Norm MacDonald thing of acting like he isn't, cause he knows being a smartarse isn't particularly funny. He's actually very comparable to Norm in a lot of ways, although obviously he has a long way to go to reach that level. Norm is the GOAT for me.
11:01 "extraordinarily principled" -- respect for Shane. That takes nerves of steel... I can safely and honestly say I have often failed my principles in less stressful situations -- so I can speak first-hand as to how comforting it can be to bend to pressure, even if it's a losing bet in the long run -- something I've also experienced first hand.

No one should lose their job over comedy!! Shane is a brilliant comedian and entertainer and will continue to support his comedy by going to his shows.
It made me happy to see Shane sincerely thank you. I've been a fan of his since he was a dude who popped in at the bonfire. He was hilarious then and hes hilarious now. I thought it was a stand up move to have his back through that when the easy move was to get more publicity for your campaign. Keep running Andrew. Please. I hope we can get a guy like you in there. If not we are doomed
Honestly I had been recently thinking that Yang should have Shane on. This is so incredible. I had been waiting for these guys to talk it out for years. Cannot wait for this
This was a fantastic conversation. Thank you Andrew for allowing Shane your platform. Both men had great points and I’m sure Shane appreciated that it was such a relaxed environment. What a contrast to the shit storm he was in on the barstool pod. The fact he can seamlessly exist between the two is a credit to his character.
"listen to what got him cancelled. He’s making fun of racists." When he called Bernie Sanders and Yang "Jew chinks" while discussing the presidential race? Disagree, that wasn't making fun of racists.
Great interview & conversation, Andrew. I was already a fan, and this made it more so. Refreshing to see another independent platform for the exchange of ideas, and a source for both information & news that hasn’t been run through & edited by mainstream media companies. This is the type of content that fits into the much needed “rational revolution”, aimed at bringing some sanity, and a sense of normalcy back into our world. I borrowed the idea from a conversation that was had on Dr Drew’s After Dark podcast, with comedian Christina P, as they were discussing the fact that people living in the US have seemingly lost their minds, especially in regards to the fallout from C one-nine protocols, and from the divisive nature that is US politics in the last 10yrs, or so. Liked, and subbed to your channel.
Great interview! Andrew, that part when you refer to you and your friends making fun of each other was how we celebrated each others differences. Your boys were your boys and immutable differences rarely weighed in aside from ribbing each other. Miss that culture and brotherhood!
Idk how many times Ive commented this on videos of Shane but getting let go by SNL was the best thing for him! His sketches are hilarious without the SNL scrutiny and his stand up is top shelf as well. He would've been wasting his time at SNL. Cant wait to see him at the Funny Bone in Columbus next month!
The great part was, the "racist comment" Shane made that got him fired was making fun of a early 1900's white people who were racist against asians. Of course all of that context was never mentioned in the news reports.
This is why Yang is the fucking man, sees through all the bullshit from the left and right. Just a normal dude with common sense and logic backed opinions and policies, we’d thrive as a country if this man was at the helm
It’s why he will NEVER do anything of meaning in politics. You gotta sell out and be compromised to be President. No one that actually wants to help even makes it remotely close.
Yeah I don’t love every policy he has but he would genuinely try to work with both sides and not cater to radicals. That would be refreshing but also the reason why he never had a chance unfortunately.
Na man, he’s still a politician, his support is based on how well it polls with his target demographics, not some personal moral stand. I guarantee his team had a lot to do with all of this.
He buckled to the DNC, that was weak. He should have run independent, he wouldn't have won, but if he'd stood against dem collusion he'd be running w momentum rn.
This is the one that I've been waiting for. Both guys are fun, smart, funny and have experience with becoming famous fast and getting cancelled to varying degrees for generally BS reasons. I can't wait!
Andrew suffered from being too smart and too genuine while everyone else running were simply acting smart and acting genuine. Politicians are actors, and somehow Andrew being actually genuine got him "cancelled". Stupid world.
Great interview, ironically Shane being cancelled and not being on SNL likely ended up being better for his career cuz now he’s a regular on JRE and his fan base has probably multiplied by so much more than being on SNL, most people don’t know who on SNL other than Pete Davidson 😂 especially in the comedy world
@@garrettpandow2041 Colin Quinn hasn't been on SNL for years. If we're talking historically then loads of them are famous, way moreso than Colin Quinn. But nowadays nobody cares about any of them.

I could see Shane being like Norm Macdonald on SNL. Not the same role but in the sense that they are true comics. Would have loved to see his impressions on there
Really looking forward to this episode. Loved how Yang handled the situation when the mob wanted Shane's head. NYC Mayor election day I remember seeing a Yang Gang members picture on Twitter with Shane saying they both voted for Yang. It legit made me tear up. Grace and forgiveness is the way forward.
@Bart Chrysler more like politically delusional 😅 Yang gives a bad take, and they completely flip. They act as if they’re always right when they’re not. As long as Yang continues helping people, and practices what he preaches, then I have no problems with him. I mean I have strong criticisms of him, but I don’t insult his intelligence, smear him, or tell down his throat. My response is usually “hey you’re wrong about this, and here’s why”. My goodness, is that too hard?
Both Shane and Andrew were snapped at and even canceled over something they said or a bad take. Yet they got some good ideas on how to help others and give all a better future. I hate when those things are overlooked, but social media / news goes after them over trivial matters.
Getting fired from SNL was the biggest bullet Shane ever dodged in his career. He's now killing it with his special, his Gilly and Keeves sketches and Rogan appearances on the Protect our Parks episodes.

Dude that show at magoobys was insane, I haven’t laughed that hard in years.
Damnit! I was planning on making that show and couldn’t get a sitter! I wish y’all had said that he had an off night :(
This was a great conversation. Shane is a funny dude, and Andrew Yang is so good! Love it!
This is the longest I have listened to Andrew Yang speak. Good podcast Host.
Mr. Yang seems like a good guy. I don’t agree with his politics but he’s Asian and so I assume he’s much smarter than me so I’m likely wrong.
@@spareparts1017 You are wrong but you have the company of the majority of Americans so there's that at least.
You won't vote for Yang just like 90% of the voters who won't vote for whoever is running against Pelosi, Schumer, Manchin, etc.
@@SpartanSun21 I don’t know who those folks are but it sounds like they’re no good. Thanks for the heads up.
@@spareparts1017 They are senators and Representatives. Like Barbara Boxer, who is senile but keeps getting re-elected.
Shane is the embodiment of the average American. Love that dude.
Shane is a D1 athlete, veteran and snl alum. He's elite 😂
SHANE! YAASS
"Hey, Shane, did you say this slur?"
"Nope."
"Here's a video of you saying it."
"Nah, that ain't me. That's fake news deep fake."
Yes ❤
Very well put.
You got a dog wife, Ron.
Well said Tim
I walked in I said wow...what a great interview! This Shane guys face is almost as red as mine!
Weow, what a f-f-fantastic podcast!
Wow what a great comment
This was a fantastic podcast. Honesty and humility go a long way.
Yo Jay X, you sound like you are on your way being one heck of a guy! Keep up the good work bro
“I’m happy we finally got to sit down” even Shane’s sincerity is funny
Shane is our every-mans hero. Wholesome dude with no fear. He was giddy on this one I love it. Humble silly boy. Cool pod! Thanks Andrew!
And would you look at that…..Shane didn’t swing on the Asian guy. Thought he hated them. Oh well. Lmaoooo
He was very hungover. According to him
When he used the slur he was talking about how people talked back in the day. I don't understand why that is never really explained. Shane is the best new comic out and far from racist. I hope new viewers check him out
💯
Yup, they took it way out of context, he was actually saying Asians were treated unfairly by white people in the 1920s.
🇺🇸
@@Eblis840 what’s the joker card for
I don't know why Shane never brings this up. It's fucking stupid how everyone took it. Shane just acts like he was just calling someone that.
Shane wasn't lying,he does look extra red in this interview
And sweaty lol
Bet he stunk of Pabst and regret
I was a fan of Andrew Yang when he was running for President. I moved from Republican before the war in Iraq in 2003 to Democrat and now an Independent I feel a kinship with Mr. Yang. I am a HUGE fan of Shane Gillis and came here to watch Shane but subscribed to watch more Andrew.
No one should lose their job over comedy!! Shane is a brilliant comedian and entertainer and will continue to support his comedy by going to his shows.
Andrew is all “Shane Gillis!” Camera pans to a bright red, sweaty, hunched over shell of a man with a half-crocked smile.
Only difference's when one is on the microphone people chear and rejoice with laughter...
If this is negative against Shane, you’re not in good company.
Edit: it did make me audibly laugh
The other half is bud light
It made me happy to see Shane sincerely thank you. I've been a fan of his since he was a dude who popped in at the bonfire. He was hilarious then and hes hilarious now. I thought it was a stand up move to have his back through that when the easy move was to get more publicity for your campaign. Keep running Andrew. Please. I hope we can get a guy like you in there. If not we are doomed
Honestly I had been recently thinking that Yang should have Shane on. This is so incredible. I had been waiting for these guys to talk it out for years. Cannot wait for this
You called it...
Shane said it…
Shane is hysterical. Also Andrew is an incredible interviewer 👏🏻👏🏻
Even hungover Shane is a good listen! Good sit down Andrew, I enjoyed it.
Great interview, Andrew is a G for having Shane's back when the mob came for him!
“That’s what got me in trouble last time” 😂😂😂😂 Shane is so funny
Here after Netflix and Mothership landing. Dude might be the best in the world at his craft right now.
props to Andrew and Shane have a good weekend dawgs
That was the best hungover interview of all time lol
Shane’s a good egg. If you think Shane is racist, listen to what got him cancelled. He’s making fun of racists.
Forward!
"listen to what got him cancelled. He’s making fun of racists." When he called Bernie Sanders and Yang "Jew chinks" while discussing the presidential race? Disagree, that wasn't making fun of racists.
sodtaoe
@@thebrazilianatlantis165 "jew chinks" has to be the funniest combination of words I've ever heard 😂
@@thebrazilianatlantis165 please source that. As thats not what got him "canceled"
@@thebrazilianatlantis165 the joke is how absurd that is to say. Went right over your head.
A red faced Young Bull and the Yang Man what an unstoppable combo.
Bob the Tomato out here , it really does look crazy. Good interview/ talk tho , enjoyed.
@@soulfuzz368 that’s a terrible team then. He would never get out of the primaries with this strategy.
He buckled to the DNC, that was weak. He should have run independent, he wouldn't have won, but if he'd stood against dem collusion he'd be running w momentum rn.
This is such a heart-warming discussion. I feel as if I am conversing with Shane myself.
Died right away at the “lo siento lo siento amigos”
Look at my baby boy powering through the hangover to absolutely nail it.
Well fancy seeing you here 😉
This is the one that I've been waiting for.
Great interview, ironically Shane being cancelled and not being on SNL likely ended up being better for his career cuz now he’s a regular on JRE and his fan base has probably multiplied by so much more than being on SNL, most people don’t know who on SNL other than Pete Davidson 😂 especially in the comedy world
Colin Quinn is a Goat in comedy. But you got the rest spot on.
And Pete is kind of almost famous because of who he dates. I never seen him before but only know or him as that guy
I mean he has a more honest career now, at least
I know Michael Che, but only because he trash talked king pig.
@@garrettpandow2041 Colin Quinn hasn't been on SNL for years. If we're talking historically then loads of them are famous, way moreso than Colin Quinn. But nowadays nobody cares about any of them.
Had no idea you two talked! Love this
I like Shane's comedy. He is thoughtful, intentional, and genuine.
Love both of these people. What a fantastic interview to wake up to
This is a duo I had absolutely no idea we needed.
"Lo siento! Amigos!"
LMAO Shane is the best
No need to be embarRiced
Shane sees the humour in everything. It’s so hard for him to have such serious conversations.
When Yang said “as someone who has slurred”, Gillis starts laughing to himself - 3:18 .
I could see Shane being like Norm Macdonald on SNL. Not the same role but in the sense that they are true comics. Would have loved to see his impressions on there
This is great and it shows just the incredible compassion Yang has. It clearly positively impact Shane that Andrew wasn’t vengeful that period.
Yang didn’t effect a single thing in Shane’s career
@@thedogs3467 according to Shane at the end he was very grateful Yang didn’t say anything negative because that would’ve destroyed his career.
Yeah shout out to yang for being so reasonable. Seems like a genuinely nice person
I am very looking forward to this. I hope Shane pounds 15 bud lights
Grace, forgiveness and tolerance, indeed, is the way to move humanity Forward!!!
Compared to all the other shit Yang got, what Shane did / said was minor.
@Bart Chrysler holy shit you’re so old lmao
Nice of Shane to have a sit-down with one of the Partners.
I love when I searched this vid the suggested title was “shane gillis and Andrew wang.” Lmao
When can we get Yang on the Paytch? Need to see him and Tantalizer talk to each other on Zoom.
The dawgz are here to support the man himself!
Knowing the lead up to this makes this 1000x funnier. From case race to this lmao
Love Shane destined to be one of the greats , kudos to Yang for having him on and having an open conversation .
10:05 this reminds me of the episode of Atlanta when a fashion company hires Paper Boi tell everyone that racism will be over by 2025 lol
Imagine what Ari looked like at this EXACT moment Shane is sitting here having a decent discussion 😂
this was after barstool case rase, not rogan. but ari still probably looked like hell
Shane’s journey has been hilariously unreal
Nobody is getting angry. Nobody is going crazy. Just some good respectful conversation
Who else loves watching hungover Shane having to endure an Asian talk about being Asian, and what Shane said about Asians 😂
First podcast I’ve seen from Yang. Love it. Lots of cuts tho. Would be cool if there was a longer running version with less cuts.
This was SO nice. Just plain nice. I love both of these guys.
"you cant cry at bootcamp" haha
13:38 Shane's hangover is showing here. Clearly trying to stifle a yawn while listening to Yang. A Yang Yawn, if you will.
Hahah great catch
I got a contact hangover from this. Good job, big dawg.
26:15 The funny part of The Rock running for POTUS is that it's exactly what happened in Idiocracy. A pro-wrestler becoming president. 😂
Shane is so hungover. Hahaha
Yang Gillis 2024
Shane has a great joke about how Chinatown started
Getting fired from SNL was the biggest bullet Shane ever dodged in his career. He's now killing it with his special, his Gilly and Keeves sketches and Rogan appearances on the Protect our Parks episodes.
I am not a fan of Andrew"s politics, but he seems like a very likeable guy. This was a great interview, solid talk boys
