You're a champion conductor of conversational interviewing 🍯
The hell is that buzzing noise
awesome podcast ryan, the ostrich laugh was a little over the top but you're a great host/interviewer haha. subbed.
Dude is a Champ 🎬🤩. Great show guys!!
SNL doesn't support our troops by firing a decorated veteran like that.
Never heard of Rob Riggle then?
Lol
@@Ottophil its so great you watch a comedy podcast and not get jokes.....
😂
@@Ottophil woooosh
“Technically I’m a division one athlete, a decorated veteran, and cast member on SNL…and in reality I’ve done none of those things.” - Shane Gillis
Right poor dude technically a wartime vet, and history making snl cast member but also neither
@@michaelpotter3627 history making?
@@boofert.washington2499 yeah he made history as the first one hired and fired before a show
@@michaelpotter3627 technically the truth

Ryan is probably one of the only dudes to not step on the guest toes and really make them shine while still showing them the heat he can throw
You mean make them Shane!!
Laughing at the previous comment, but heck yes! Crab Feast where it should be. East Coast with the Philly crew.
@@oussiebossie I saw what you did there. Fawk yeah!
@@stevenpascal7476 Hoagies!
@@Johnny1.0 fawk Yeah dud??
I’ve heard Shane talk about what happened across a lot of platforms, but never like this. Ryan’s approach is top notch. Thank you for being so good at what you do.
Thats because Sickler is a skilled interviewer and rarely allows awkward moments to happen.
Yeah all these other comedy podcasts suck. Ryan is an actual interviewers
This interview, The Bertcast and Adam Carolla one are above the rest!
Great comment. This was an eye opener to the SNL audition. I've also heard tons of Gillis pods about the audition, but never mentioned actual process. Never mentioned Che, Lorne or the table at audition.
its like groundhog day everytime shane goes on a podcast. same old snl crap
Shout out to Ryan for bringing on a Special Olympian for todays episode!

i dont see an asian...

I could have sworn he had the coach of the special Olympics team on today! Hahahahhaha
Ryan is hands down the best interviewer in the pod game today. I've seen almost all of Shane's appearances on pods over the last several weeks, and this is the best one. Ryan asks great questions and goes so much deeper than anyone else. Shane has a great career ahead of him. So so funny.
I think most people left the SNL stuff alone because they figured he's constantly, only, asked about that. But it makes sense on this show.
Well said ! It was nice to see Shane talk about it in a long form and Ryan just knows how to get folks to slow down and talk.
Yeah cause that’s what his pod is about.
He's an incredible listener. And he leads up to some great questions, too. Doesn't cut his guests off. Just listens, agrees, laughs. Boy, does he laugh! But you're correct! He's an amazing interviewer. He would be cool to just hang out with.
Yessir! I love Ryan, and all of shane's pod cast apperances have been hilarious. But this one was amazing 🔥🔥
You would think that I would get burned out on seeing Shane on all of my favorite podcasts... But it just keeps getting better.
Hell yeah!!
Ditto. And this was a good energy match.
The great ones don't get boring
Agreed! Did you see him on Flagrant 2? Lol he sucked but it was still awesome cause they just roasted him about being burnt out. And his Michael from Love on the Spectrum impressions kill me from laughter
"Is that so bad? Dying for your country?" fucking hilarious love Shane Gillis and his sketches
Right on Sickler
Getting fired from SNL was THE best thing for Shane. Made him a house hold name, and his gift of comedy didn't just disappear because of it... Also, side note, this episode and Shane talking about his failures making me laugh SO hard. One of the best guests.
His story is incredible. Even if his comedy isn’t for me, I enjoy him as a human and his perspective. Probably because he’s around my age and reminds me of my brothers and friends. The fact he was able to hold it down, weather this strange road and come out the other side mostly in tact says a lot about him and his support system.
There really wasn’t any sort of path of redemption for what he experienced as it was very bizarre set of circumstances .
Best interview of Shane’s origin story. He has always glossed over it, but Sickler really makes Shane tell the details.
Shane's standup on RUclips is so, so good. Best special I've seen in probably 10 years... and it's FREE!
Mark Normand’s is good too and also free on RUclips 👍🏼
Best one I've seen since Chappelle's newest special
Go Flyers!
ok now you trippin but its ok
@@Betega I suppose you have a better special in mind? Maybe you have something you've created, yourself.
After he did his Los Angeles podcast rounds I looked up his podcast and now I'm hooked. Matt and Shane's Secret Podcast is hilarious.
gotta listen to the old testament eps on patreon you wont be disappointed
Patreon is only $1 a month. You won't be disappointed.
Bro same. I’ve been shredding that podcast. make sure you listen to the old shit on patreon it’s gold
Shout out MSSP. Shout out WAR MODE. Shout out all the skis, dawgz, and bros. Joy to the world and that includes the lads and the partners.
I discovered the podcast recently too and burnt through so many episodes. Matt and Shane are so funny together. There's lots of shows where even if there are multiple people on it it's usually one guy who is really funny and the others are occasionally funny but with Matt and Shane they're both hilarious in different ways
Ryan is an amazing interviewer, if he wasn’t so funny, he would be a brilliant journalist. He keeps his guests so calm and open for topics of conversation.
The questions he asks are also well formed. Which seems crazy since its on the fly. He's got talent in interviewing.
That’s true. One of these podcast interviewers. Also my guy is handsome af.
Ryan is the goat man, all the other podcasts I watched Shane on he didn't really open up much and he kept shit very casual. Ryan's way of making the guests feel comfortable and allowing them to speak without stepping on their points is really awesome.
Ryan is probably the best interviewer I have ever watched. He matches energy perfectly with people and when he laughs it feels really genuine.
Was really hoping Shane would make his rounds to the Dew, enjoyed seeing him lately great comedian!
First time caller, new life long fan… Shane is Shrek 1. Shrek 1 for sure.
☝🏼
“Don’t Cry At West Point” should be the name of Coach Shane’s next special.
Thumbs up for a Shane and McCusker Civil War comedy
What a killer guest and I give huge props to Ryan for asking about and truly listening to his story about the SNL shit. This is the first time I got to hear it all the way through and without ridiculous interruptions.
Here and Rogan
Never seen his standup and I'm watching his popularity grow faster than it may have on SNL. Leaving here to watch his special.
He also has 10-15min at the end of Jeremiah Watkins latest improvised special released last weel. There’s an INSANE Titanic joke 🙌🏻
You won't regret it.
Watch his skits!! 🤣😅😂 they're hilarious! Gilly & Keeves
Prepare to be bored
@@malcolmrichards7754 Not as entertaining to you as Nanette, huh? Well, not everyone can have a sense of humor.
I turned into a telescope when I see Shane Gillis
Shane is on fire man. Thank god SNL brought this guy out I been watching everything
Shane is the man.
Also, Go White Sox.
Gillis is popping up on all my favorite podcasts and each one have been great episodes. His stand up was amazing and has some great sketches. Really excited to see what this guy does.
Also Sickler killing it as always as an interviewer.
What a beautiful episode with Top Dawg. Thank you, Sickler. Started listening after your LOS appearance and now a fan of yours
I've watched Shane on all the pods as he just did his rounds and Sickler BY FAR got the most entertaining stuff out of Shane. Very good interview.
Shanes a big lovable super funny dude, he has a truthfulness and fearlessness. And for these reasons he reminds me of John Candy
I like that. Well said, sir...
This is the Shane Gillis podcast I've been waiting for. Sickler always gets the goods from his guests and you know Gillis has some good stories in his bag
Sickler killed another interview, much appreciated! Shane is a phenomenal guest I’m so glad he did the podcast rounds!
Damn dude, not even Saint Rogiez could get Shane to open up this much and be this candid about the SNL thing. Well done sir.
This was the best. I love Shane. Its nice to see Ryan get him to open up. It shows how good Ryan is. And how awesome Shane js
This was really cool. Its the first time I've actually seen/hear someone talk to Shane about his youth, and pre-comedy life in depth. It's really nice seeing him getting to talk about different subjects without just focusing on SNL.
YOUNG BULL!!!! This is the Honeydew we needed! Happy Toosdee y'all!!!
“What if I die? Is it that bad, is it bad to
Die for your country? Dad wtf you”re a salesman.😂😂 man this is a duo we didn’t know we needed. But this being their first time hanging it was amazing
I remember my step father looked at me right in the eyes after I came home from the Navy of 9 years of active duty and said” I don’t care you served. Don’t get me wrong I’m proud of you but I don’t care you served that was your choice.” Guy never served a day in his life. Was very bizarre statement and didn’t know how I felt about his remark
"Even the safties" hahah Ryan's face when he said it
Thank you Honey Dew for bringing Shane on board. I enjoy his interviews as much as his comedy because he truly shows up with the right attitude .... He might be channeling Norm Macdonald at this point.
Show up happy, and lay no blame.
Good stuff.
Ryan, you are an excellent interviewer. I have watched a lot of these recent podcasts with Shane as a guest and I learned a lot more about him personally from your podcast than any other.
Be careful, Sickler. There's a BULL in the night pants studio.
Weirdly one of the best memories i got is me walking around with a stroller with my newborn daughter listening to honey dew and laughing, thanks Sickle Cell, good times👍
Of all the pods Shane went on this was the best one by far. Nice work Ryan
Yes 2 of my favorite people together finally!!!!!
It's pretty surreal listening to you two talk about Norm MacDonald and your love for him, now knowing that he would die only like a week after this was recorded..
Only like 2 or 3 days, it's still surreal. :(
Chinatown had him wacked for backing Shane. 😂
Reminds me of that tragedy
@@losethOS88 I didn't even know he was sick.
I respect Shane’s honesty about college failure and just accepting it and moving forward. It’s not always easy to admit and accept that you shot for the moon and then realized you didn’t want it, and wanted idk, PA or Ohio or something instead and still be totally alright with all of it. Props for candid hilarious honesty
Probably the best podcast of the recent Shane Gillis saga of podcast. Ryan you are so good at this! Shine bright like a diamond big dogg!
Two straight up solid good guys. Big ups to both. 😎😎
Even though I heard Shane tell his story so many Times...Him and Ryan were great..Honey Dew just so Sweet!
Just watched his special for the 4th time and laughed just as hard as the 1st. Great job Shane. You deserve all of this
This podcast is absolutely so unique, authentic and wonderful in every way. Thank you Sickle Cell.
I’ve heard Shane on almost every podcast that I listen to and this one feels the most like a natural conversation.
Adam Corolla podcast is very well also
I'm arriving very late to the Shane G party. But man, he is a fantastic comedian. Those sketches are absolutely hilarious. The Donald Trump speed dating had me crying.
This is the best LA pod shanes been on bc Ryan actually asks questions about him instead of topics and stories about himself or constantly trying to talk over shane. Great stuff, just great
What a great episode. Thanks for making it happen, Ryan !
I just got off LOS for this….Sickler and the Bull win. It’s Toooosdey!
@Utah XK Sickler takes a bit more of a backseat on the Honeydew but that's because he's interviewing and giving the guests room to tell their story. I found out about Sickler from his old podcast, The Crabfeast with another comedian, Jay Larson as his co-host. On that show Sickler and Larson were hilarious. They'd both riff with the guests and the show was consistently funny
So this was recorded the day after he released his special back in the beginning of September. Right now, 6-7 weeks later it's sitting at nearly 2 million views. This dude is will be in theaters in 2 years.
That's a good one! Like there's gonna be theaters in 2 more years lol
@@roymakescomics Hey there will be theaters in the camps.
Yea I doubt Shane will ever do movies he didn't even want to audition for SNL his agent talked him into it thankfully he wants to do comedy and his own skits
@@dangerousdylan6262 I hope he does just to see him make bank but we all know the best content will be what he releases.
You dolts. You're obviously non fans of stand up. "Theaters" meaning selling out classic music theaters where seats cost between $400-$40. Not movie theaters.. going from open mics, to rooms to theaters is the trajectory for comics. Usually it takes 15 years for them to get through paying those dues.
I love Shane, great seeing him on here
In the last month I have learned to absolutely love Shane. He’s an amazing comedian!
As a "decorated" veteran, I fucking love how he points out the technicality hahahahahahahahahahahahaha
Gilly is the man, been loving the guests lately sickle cell
Rewatching this in 2024 and its still just as entertaining as the first time. Shane is by far one of the most likeable and relatable guys in comedy now. He may not sell out arenas or travel with 14 semi trucks and I hope that never changes! You dont need all that production overkill when you've got pure talent.
Been waiting on this one for days
This episode is Shrek 1 for sure!!
How great is our god
Ryan asked if he had regrets and then straight up said "I'm not asking, I'm just curious " 🤣
Sickle, your interviewing skills are FAR beyond anyone else in this comedy podcast atmosphere. Keep it up my dude!!!
Excellent interview as always
It's funny how Shane was never even on SNL but is still my favorite SNL comedian lmao
He's hosting soon
I think I’ve watched every single podcast with Shane for the past couple weeks. 🙏🏼
Keep coming back to this cast and Ryan has such a unique ability to bring out the real guest. LOVE this podcast and I think is the best of representation of Shane's origin story.
Great episode!!! 🍈 Sickler and Shane are both hilarious and super sweet guys - forever stoked to have met them! 💚
From now on when he is brought up to the stage it should be "division 1 athlete, decorated war veteran, and SNL alumni, Shane Gillis!"
Dude the reference to Norm is wild. This was made over a month ago that’s nutty.
always wholesome when two of em talk to eachother
Another Great Episode!!!! I love that you are getting more and more east coast comics.
Shane is too good for SNL.
Shane Gillis never gets old! I listen to him on every pod. Just finished his pod with Theo
Hosts laughter here always brings out so much info in who ever he Interviews. I think the relax and fun space keeps people talking more.
Saw Shane last year in Philly and he was absolutely hilarious! Had us crackin’ up the whole time. Definitely recommend seeing him live!
Man I just got off midnights, but I'm gonna dew before bed
You can Dew in the bed too. No one will judge you here
@@h2tym I will judge
I just woke up and started the dew
@@grattimmy9937 I’m judging all of you
I can for sure see Shane becoming as big if not bigger than Louis as time goes on man, absolute killer!! Happy tuesdee family!!!
For sure he will.
Louis ck?
He must mean Gomez 😂
I meant CK, he's already trumped louis J gomez hahahahahahahahhaha
That was an amazing episode, Ryan.
I've watched Shane on all these podcasts but this is by far the best one. I haven't watched Honeydew before but I'm a fan now.
I hope that one day 5-10 years down the road Shane gets to host SNL.
His monologue would be an instant classic
Shane's special is 🔥
"It was C - Vid" 😂😂😂 Gillis is very quick
Ryan's stand up is one of the funniest sets I've ever seen in my life. Speaks from truth and has natural talent.
Seen/listened to Gillis on 4/5 other podcasts the last couple weeks and he keeps growing on me. Him and Dan Soder need their own Podcast
I second that! Gillis and Soder?! Fucking epic.
Ah shiiiit what a great surprise! Shane’s been my favorite podcast guest the past two months on any podcast! Hilarious dude
This did not feel like an hour and 8 minutes, great stuff, time flies when your having fun
This is the podcast that got me really into Shane Gillis. Him and Mark Normand are the two current comedians that I feel are genuinely the most naturally funny people out there right now.
Shane in particular has some characteristic that I can’t really put into words-almost like you have known him your whole life. There’s a level of sincerity with him that people have been desperately needing the last 6 or so years.
Funniest sketches ever on Gilly and Keeves. Shane needs to blowup big
Matt and Shane’s Secret Podcast is the best of them alllll! #DawgTalk
Sickler was made for this man, never a dull moment on this dudes show. He’s definitely got a good following but he should easily have 300 k plus subs
I just got done watching the special and it was great!
1:05:52 on every podcast I've seen Shane on he's had an understated home run off the dome, but this was a grand slam hahaha
"it was covid!" Lmao
So great to finally hear a more detailed story of going to westpoint
Ryan's laugh has me in stitches 😂
I like Shane. He's funny and he's smart. He handled the SNL bullshit the best way possible.
Was unfamiliar with Shane’s stand up
He’s a beast !
Wish the best in his stand up career
Big shout out to the best podcast out there
The HONEYDEW y’all and of course Ryan !
Only recently stumbled across Shane’s stuff and the more I watch the more hooked I get. Dude has some hilarious life experience to draw from and I really enjoy his style of comedy. Awesome interview
GREAT EPISODE! All time classic 10/10!
