I was born a freckled child in a land far away during a much simpler time. I did well in school until it counted. As a freshman in high school I had dreams of going to Notre Dame and becoming a lawyer. By the time I was sophomore I was taking shop class and was considering getting into construction. I ended up working in warehousing and unloading trucks. Other than stand up, that job was the most fun I ever had.
I am now a stand up comedian. I do a couple hundred shows a year. And I enjoy the travel. I’ve done four hour-long stand-up specials: “Why Do I Do This”, “Let It Go”, “You People Are All The Same” and “I’m Sorry You Feel That Way.” I host a podcast each week called The Monday Morning Podcast. And I have an animated series on Netflix called: ‘F’ Is For Family.’ Occasionally I act in movies but only when they let me.

His comment about people at sporting events is so true. I took my boys to a Cubs game in Chicago and there was this guy near us who was constantly yelling #$#$%$%#$#. I leaned to my two sons and told them what a shame it was he was acting the way he was. I did not yell at the guy because then we would have went at it.
I had to check who's pod this was. Jim seemed more like host. I was impressed w him.

Bill, I know you don't really like talking about it, but I'm grateful that you are somewhat open to discussing your trauma and how it shaped who you are.
I am currently 27, a recent graduate with a seemingly useless degree, unemployed despite my efforts, and have waves of feeling overwhelmed from my childhood trauma. I know it shaped me to have the gifts that I have to help others when they are in the darkness, but I have yet to learn how to get along with my demons.
Listening to you talk about how your rage left you intentionally distant from creating relationships, your previous inability to simply "have one drink", and the childlike desire to be liked by everyone due to the fear of being hurt left me feeling comforted and understood. I know that if I keep pushing uphill, eventually I'll get on level ground. Thank you for all lighthearted and sometimes deeply introspective fire-under-the-ass jokes.
You are a blessing and I'm honored to call you my favorite comedian and an overall great dude.
Yea, bill talking about that really helps, even just him telling stories from his childhood in a comedic way kinda helps you remember similar things that you experienced in a goofy way compared to how they actually were, at least for me it does.

This is fucking awesome... I'm a 47yr female from West Virginia, and I am big fans of you both... I love all different comedians and have been watching a shit ton of stand-up RUclips videos since 2018. Going through a lot of physical and mental health issues and trying to work on myself deal with all the loss ... I'm very greatful for you BOTH and all the other stand-up comedians whom have gave me laughter and happiness you guys and girls have given me the last few years...

These two go back to the early 2000’s. They both did Comedy Central Presents. They got to be old pals, either way I loved this interview as a comedy fan.

I remember being a lineman in high school football. Lineman have to literally sacrifice their minds and bodies for the sake of someone else to move the ball and getting all the credit. Try throwing yourself in harms way for someone you hate. This was a skill I carried into life.

Bill's good at beating you down while you're trying to make your counterpoint. You gotta stop him early and ask him something like, "what are you afraid of? You afraid I'm gonna prove you wrong?" to get him to shut up for a few minutes.
