YES! I love training all the different variations of Individual Medley. My favorite event to train for and race is the 100 IM!
I'm going to be trying my first 100 IM (Masters) end of month. I'm doing it like you said, to switch up and just add interest. Challenge myself. Nice training options!
Good luck! The 100 IM is a fun race!
Hey Fares how about a video on eating for a swim meet? 4 weeks out, one week out, night before, in general etc. Thx!
Great idea :)
I do an 800 IM at the start of many of workouts. I am 63 years old and I like to train for the 400 I. M. as a distance event. Can't say its the best way, but I never worry about finishing a 400 I. M. in a Master's Meet. I also train with a 400 butterfly workout for the 200 fly competition.
Do you warm up with the 800 IM? Warm up with 200m butterfly? 😮😮
Had an excellent IM/stroke day Wednesday. By good I mean I will need the 2 stretch workouts today & 2 Sprint day workouts Friday to fully recover. Just another reminder why March is as magical for swimmers as it is Madness for ball sports.
I noticed doing so many 400s & 100s in training that (staying late) to do some 200s the brain gets the shock of where the stroke transition falls.
As for that 7:45 800s: nope, but we have a 45 minute window from when our LCM workouts end & the pool is shutdown for reconfiguration. I use the time to attempt a 1600IM. my 1st attempt (Dec 2018) was ~47minutes. The next 2 attempts [April 2019 & October 2019] where 41:35 & 41:36. The April attempt turned into a negative split of each 400 [11:20; 10:18; 10:15; 09:37] & the October was [10:05; 10:15; 11:18; 08:52]. It becomes a pick your payment situation: are you taking the butterfly out hard enough to compromise your breaststroke? Or do you control the effort to have something left to go after the back half?
1600 - nice
A 1600 IM...now that's a challenge!
@@FaresKsebati done with humility, patience & a respect for what you bring on deck that day.

Hi Fares, awesome video, just had a killer workout! Can you please explain what K/S: kick down, swim back means?
Shannon Bolenbaugh correct! Kick/swim. 😎
Fares Ksebati So do I flutter kick on my back a lane, and then swim back FS?
@@MrSputnik11 Correct! The kick can be your choosing -> fly, flutter, breast. Then swim freestyle on the 2nd half!
I love IM as a warmup 😎
800?
thank you
I'm doing a 200IM this weekend at a meet. I have a question. I've done IMs at meets many times before but the back to breast turn can be confusing.. do you just touch on back and use your legs to kick off for breast after??
I’m today old when I learn you can’t do a turn on each stroke where can I add the flip turn on the IM
I have some back issues, I always read that I should avoid bread stroke, what about this? Is it true?
I miss the recovery time between the sessions etc. etc.
I'm new to this..I am not familiar with this terminology. When you say 50 back... did that mean 50 back strokes?
You're correct! Sometimes the strokes are abbreviated (butterfly = fly, backstroke = back, breaststroke = breast, freestyle = free)
FIRST VIEWWWW!!!!!!
Nice!! Happy Swimming!
I just need to know the order
Hi there! In an individual medley, the order is butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, freestyle. Hope that helps!
I have a question is it good I am a 14 year old boy and I did an 100 meter IM in 1:10:01 is that good
Hey Kyle! If you’re improving, then that’s good! Compare yourself to YOU and have fun :)
