Thanks for your walkthrough. We are snaking our cable through the external storage under the bed, but are adding the smart plug solution in a few weeks while we are stopped with family.
Great video, it definitely answers a lot of questions. Still have a question on the SmartPlug... The one you linked at West Marine and/or eTrailer appears to be different from the one you have installed in the videos. I see your RJ45 is on top while the ones on the other sites are side by side next to the coax. Did you modify your outlet or is there a newer version available?
I have the older version, no longer available. The newer version, with the side by side ports, uses Keystone jacks whereas ours used bulkhead (screw through) connectors. There are some pros and cons to each design. For the current style, its really easy to purchase a shielded Keystone jack and swap out the plastic one that comes from SmartPlug. There have been some fitment issues reported with various brand Keystone jacks, but I like to one from trueCable that I have tested myself and know fits snuggly.
