I'm so curious what percentage of people are actually paying for the bicycle ticket. I know the folding bikes are free, But people would always bring their normal bikes on put them in the bike area and then walk away I assume so the conductor wouldn't know who the bike belongs to.
They see you getting on the train with your bike, and are trained to memorize your looks.
Even if trains are parked like this one, they are not abandoned, if you can open the doors, there is a conductor watching. If you cannot open the doors, there are cameras guarding safety.
@@dutchman7623 anecdotally, I've been on the train and had a conductor pointing at me asking if the bike sitting next to me is mine and when I shook My head the conductor shrugged and carried on.
Maybe I looked like the guy that owned that bike or something.
If it's too easy to your bike on the train there will be too much Dutch to take their bike on the train and it won't work. The NS want people to use their bikeshare instead because then trains empty much quicker and that's important for the tight scheduals.
How do you bring your bike through the ticket gates? I’d like to take mine through The Hague central but I already have a time squeezing through with a suitcase, let alone a bicycle
Usually there is at least one wider gate for disabled persons.
