In this video titled EU4 A to Z - The Knights Are The HARDEST START IN THE GAME I play as The Knights in Europa Universalis 4 1.34 Lions of The North. This is the series titled A to Z where I attempt to play every* nation in EU4 in alphabetical order. Of course I had to remove some nations so the challenge doesn't get too boring. In this video I play as the nation of The Knights and I attempt to make The Ottomans not exist. So, let's see if I managed to do it! I hope you guys enjoy this series. FORM BRAZILLLLLL
You can release nations in order not to make a country exist my dude... I almost started shouting in my head. I wonder if you do that on purpose XD
@@FonikosGazmas He’s done that before a lot. Annexing the last of the ottomans is more satisfying
Someone tell Laith
Your ‘small’ goal made it seem like a personal grievance had developed against the Ottomans by your fifth(?) attempt as the Knights.
Hawk looking like a villian with that black turtleneck. He pulls it off lol
And that mustache
Breaks limiter becomes one mustache man
More like a French hipster
Looks like he is about to try out some crazy Ratatouille
That's a Bond villain if I ever seen one. And playing Knights on and on seems like a good origin story too ;)
Seeing him declare a conquest war instead of a reconquest war by accident hurt me greatly...mostly because I've done the same
Unless I'm mistaken, reconquest wars make you pay bird mana to take any claims that you have, as well as costing more war score to take those claims in the peace deal. Not saying that it's always better than reconquest, but I'm pretty sure it's sometimes the better of the two under the right circumstances.
@@cobaltcorsair592 Reconquest wars let you reconquer your subjects provinces without using Diplo as well as costing half. Because Hawk declared a conquest war using Byzantiums claims he had to give back Bulgarias cores at full cost and using diplo. It's why it costed him 50 AE as well when it should have only been 20 or so.
Yes. But it's still better than pushing a hard war to 100% and finding out you accidentally picked humliation CB.
@@SereglothIV True hell that some of us know.
@@SereglothIV I think we've all done that at least once.
With that supervillain looks I think sometimes, that Hawk is not playing a game. He really controls real historical events in alternative universe. Causing death and suffering of milions just for memes and views.
yep Hawk is an evil version of the watcher that destroys everything for a laughs and views
So basically a millennial version of Kang? Which you know exists somewhere out there in an infinite multiverse.
THIS! I hope you are someplace safe. It is very hard to escape the gaze of the Hawk.acrosss the multiverse..Godspeed BadEdit!
If you do make a guide, its worth noting that France is sympathetic to you due to the French ruler
I love how EU4 has a ton of small features like this that add so much depth
A knights guide would be absolutely chadly
The Knights get a ton of unique events too for such a minor nation. You can stack +50% Fort Defensiveness with two events in the mid 1500s for a 100 years, +25% each. Need Malta too.
Edit: They have another mission that almost never triggers because the Ottomans needs to control Alexandria before a certain point too.
Hawk really looking like a super villain with the turtleneck
I was so confused at this sponsorship that I didn't even skip it. How in a world a eu4 RUclipsr who's a red bird and looks like a supervillain gets a fishing game sponsorship?
If figured if any eu4 RUclipsr would get it it would be Laith
17:32 oof that conquest instead of reconquest declare
I would actually really like a Knights guide, especially explaining all the gov reforms that would be useful.
Also you should check out the events for the Education of the Theocrat gov reform. It's not as worthless as it looks
I recently realized i watch way too much Red Hawk when my boss asked me why i always say "Pain!" when something goes wrong at work.
The knights were my first campaign when the game first came out. I play them after a few patches. Something about beating up the ottomans and crusading is so appealing
If you use the return province option instead of just clicking the provinces they gain a lot of opinion (40 per province) and lose liberty desire too(5% per province I think
libert desire reduction is based on development of the province not flat while opinion modifier is a flat 40 lole you said.
Please do a Knights guide before 1.35 comes out because I feel like their achievements will be even more difficult with Super Ottomans
More sponsorships for our boy, NICE. Let's get to 250k next lads!
Edit: You used Conquest CB for the 2nd war, RIP 😂
Also, hi-5 for THICC Mammies, never seen em that big so early 🙌
Korea has an achievement (Choson One) where they need to own all Shinto, Confucian and Buddhist provinces in the world. Why not do a variant of that and conquer a province of all of those religions (all buddhist variants included)
As Korea, somehow make sure that Finland exists by releasing them from Scandinavia/Russia/who ever has them and then defeat them in the Second Finno-Korean Hyperwar!
That first general one purpose in life is to siege every fort
Get that Fishing Clash bag Hawk bro
A Knights guide would be extremely nice!
Great vid, Hawk!
I would have loved seeing you duke it out with the Mamluks
fr, i know it was the goal to make ottos not exist but I wanted to seem him vassalize them and go for the achievement + form jerusalem.
Sure, a walk through of their missions and best practices.
Have found it is easy to get Morea (buy indulgences) although I tried it without allies once while they were at peace (December 1444) and had a hell of a time given my fleets were outnumbered so waiting a titch is best.
Getting Malta early allows for a second province to recruit mercy while Rhodes I building ships.
In all my knights runs i was never able to ally Aragon, but i was able to ally poland every time
I did Knights run a few days ago to get all the achievements they have. To avoid fighting Otto at the beginning, I went full exploration and expansion, moved capital to Bermuda, build my powerbase in Caribbean, conquered Mexico and then started conquering Tunis, rest of Mamluks and then the Ottomans finally. The hardest thing on the end wasn't fighting Ottomans but fighting the Austria with Russia PU and massive France with Spain PU.
If you want to take Constantinople in the first war easily, you have to time it and land with few troops 1 day before the ottomans besiege it. They will help you in the fight plus in the siege.
The meta for playing the knights back in my day was to convert to orthodox and adopt greek culture. For one, you would get a chance of a revolt turning in your favor, and two, being orthodox means you could raid anybody in the med. No exceptions.
i'd gladly see a Knights guide, that'd be quite interesting to see.
Wouldn't mind seein a part 2
PLEASE give us a knights guide, I've tried some knights stuff before but I've never gotten off the ground with them, probably cause I wasn't committed enough but still
The greatest feeling is getting a god tier general. I once got a 6 siege general and was feeling amazing. Guy died like 2 years later. RIP
Saw what looked like your vassals building armies then never moving them. I’ve found the only way to reset them, because they are bugged, is to reset the game. Which sucks, cause vassal armies can be such a big help. Have you found another way to fix it?
Would really love to see a Knights guide for 1.35 :)
I basically put myself in byz position because I was able to capture Constantinople by chance after restarting several times. Took off from there but got locked in by Mamluks. Only problem was spent way more admin mana by not releasing byz. Then there was an update lost my save. Can’t repeat my success.
Honestly this video was super fun I want a second part for this 😃
Yeah for real! He should continue with this run, seems valid
Key for knights game is taking Constantinopoli same time when you take Morea. As Catholic nation (stronk allies) with ability to raid, beating Ottomans are easy as they are locked in mission tree as they need Constantinopoli for that.
If you can beat Ottomans as Byzantium, you can do it as Knights, if started correctly (like allying Epirus, promise some land for war againts byzantium and use them as stepping stone for Morea and then take all lands for yourself).
Knights guide would be a huge W. I've been trying to form Jerusalem, but I'm bad
The Knights are my favorite one province minor. They have great potential, if they actually survive early game, and expand. They have lots of "until the end of the campain" buffs
Had a run where the AI lost Rhodes but got Malta then allied France and invaded Tunis
I tried doing a Knights campaign once.
NEVER tried again, too much losses against the Ottomans
5 siege general that early is INSANE
I haven't seen the Ottomans get clapped this hard since World War I.
I mean, knights are kinda similar to byzantium start: you just keep the romans alive to prevent ottoman expansion, and maintain naval dominance and you're good to go.
A guide for the Knights? Absolutely
Well the goal was to annex Ottomans but when they were an OPM you could vassalize them and remove their cores on you to make probable next Mamluk war less expensive for the province war score cost if it makes much difference being a core.
Blocking big army on island by fleet is a great move
I'm loving the General Zod cosplay.
Yes, Knights guide, pleeeease, I will go insane before I'll manage to get started with them
The knights, the most annoying nation that raids my coasts but is too much of a hassle to deal with because of venice and how remote they are
A guide for the Knights would be awesome
I like how all it takes for a French-Castilian-Aragonese grand alliance is Naples getting Burgundy. Naples got beat down HARD.
Arta - just by having your ships there in the correct area I’m sure that stops them from crossing, don’t think you needed arta to do it
i was seriously not expecting such a good knights run, awesome shit man 👏👏
THE ONE IVE BEEN WAITING A YEAR 1/2 FOR LETS GOOOOOOOOOOIOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
A Knights guide sounds lit tbh
The Ottomans, hiding out in Azov staying as still as possible
Red, responding your question on how Ottomans went bankrupt.
From the Economy wiki: "the maximum number of loans are limited to when your total interest equals your monthly income"
From the Warfare wiki: "All [occupied] province income and trade power is no longer given to the owner"
Meaning, if you fully occupy a country long enough that they run out of whatever cash they had on hand (drop below 0 ducats), the country immediately goes bankrupt, even if they only had one loan.
A Knight's Guide would be cool
Knights guide sounds awesome.
I was so proud when i was first time playing the knights and managed to survive by smacking fezzan and than conquering north africa and italy
Amazing game! Think you could try a Jerusalem run with The Knights?
It would be cool to see you pick this one up again to make the Mamluks not exist.
Honestly I love your stash yea it does look a bit bond villainy but you rock it dam well
Is there a chance to upload all these videos in 1440p or even 4K?
i played as the knights from start to finish and by the end of the game i had Cyprus and Malta as an addition to Rhodes so yea pretty great
with like 500 dev each?
@@SimplifiedFinanceSiFi nope
Let's go with that knights guide!
22:49 I would have vassalized the Ottomans if the goal was different.
I mean look at those juicy cores from they lost from the Mamluks
can't wait to watch the Xiu episode of A to Z with my grandkids
I foking ‘ate ads but I’m glad to see RedHawk getting big and getting some cash
How on earth did you completed mission for Malta without dip.rep guy? I can't do it with one.
I need a knights guide. I love them. But have never been able to play them because I get killed everytime.
Hawk you should make a guide for the knights because I really want to play as them
The knights should get the option to form the Latin empire once they own all Byzantine cores
They do.
@@Hobgoblin88they do now, 8 months ago they didn't
nice run!! can you also do Ardabil?
Taking out the Ottomans was an interesting choice.
I know I'm late, but may be worth mentioning that it's better not to take Edirne in the first war. The capital takes up more warscore AND keeping the capital as Edirne for the 2nd war makes it easy to occupy their capital again.
Which is harder? Knights, Navarra, or that Coptic vassal of QQ?
I would say they're same difficulty, the vassal might be easiest depending on who you can get to support you, or hardest if you can get no one
Let’s have a Knight guide! That would be amazing!
They somehow survive into the 1600s when I play until I inevitably no cb them for raiding my coasts too much
Ah yes, another video by my favourite Bond villain
Suggestion: You should play with mods such as missions expanded or flavour universalis to add more flavour and content to boring nations.
Why don't you use the expand infrastructure button? It reduces development cost and gives a load of other great modifiers.
Does Hawk know that he can raid with the Knights?
It's like playing Byzantium with extra steps!
I would love to see you try and become emperor of both China and Japan as Korea.
best sponsor ive ever seen tbh
If you wanted to go further, I'd suggest to vassalize the Ottomans instead and then giave all of the cores from the Mamaluks. After 2-3 wars you will have all of Anatolia, the Holy Land and crush the Mamaluks. A true crusader state!
Wait, how were Byz so loyal when they were so big meanwhile u had 2 provinces?
I had strong allies
You could vassalize Ottobros and reconquest their cores XD
do you do the intro every time you fail and restart a nation?
funny mustache man attacks again
What a lucky game get 5 pipes siege Ruler. I've never got that in my Knight's game.
I don't think The Knights are the absolute HARDEST start in the game. I think that honor goes to Mali. Especially since The Knights can get malta for free and can land an alliance with Venice and Aragon relatively easily. BUT, with that being said, their proximity to the Ottomans when they're at their strongest is absolutely horrid. But their ideas are fantastic for both naval and land combat especially when taking Jerusalem. As always GREAT VIDEO HAWK!
nice job man
You should make a series out of your most entertaining failed runs which you wouldn't normally upload. Especially for releasables.
Pt2 video of you going for the original goal??
Super villain black Hawk back at it
I still want to see that Knights guide
Definitely better for you that Poland did not get Lithuania, as they would probably be too big to accept the alliance, whereas separate alliances worked perfectly fine.
"Do you want a guide of X?"
YES! The answer is YES!
I know you're asking to boost the video with engagement so here you go!
Yes, Knight's guide please
