    Great guide. Another reason to stop trying to progress the chain at 39 is that you’re guaranteed 3 perfect IVs on the 40th Pokémon in the chain. Great way to get good iv shinies.

  • @jrs1productions730
    @jrs1productions730 2 года назад +31

    Just a tip for those hunting shinies. You don’t have to get to 39/40 chain, I personally try to get to 19 first then reset the radar until I get a shiny. Then from there go to 29 reset until shiny then 39 if I can make it and that’s where you get three perfect IV . Stopping at 19/29/39 will get you 2/3/4 perfect IVs. Also 19 is much easier to get to then 39. Just takes a bit more time using the radar. Buy lots of repels. This is faster and less frustrating then having ur chain break all the time

    As someone who has last 3 chains upon catching the 40th pokemon, I can agree that it isn't worth the risk. Odly enough all of my shinies from chaining have come from 20 chain or less. At this point I am not even caring about getting that high. I just chain till a shiny shows up.

  • @attackontitanvanquish3651

    Just to update you, in the 1.1.2 patch, catching and killing the pokemon have the same chance EXCEPT when its 4 patches away. 1-3 are the same chances regardless.

      I was just about to correct him about that but didn't realize that it was only on the new patch. I saw somewhere that it's something like this:
      Nearest: 53%
      2nd Nearest: 63%
      2nd Farthest: 73%
      Farthest: 83% (bonus 10% which brings it to 93% _if caught_ instead of faint)

    Since chains can now be broken after the first encounter, it's advisable to enter 4-tile patches on the first encounter, especially in 1.1.2, since 1-, 2-, and 3-tile patches have had their odds reduced to 53%, 63%, and 73% if captured. Super annoying to finally find the 5% encounter and have the chain immediately ruined by not giving yourself the best chance to continue.
    Your odds of continuing that chain after the second shiny weren't great, especially if you were on 1.1.2. It was only a 3-tile patch, which meant only a 73%/83% (depending on version) to continue. I think it's worth it to wait for 4-tile shiny patches, given how time-consuming it is to get to 40 (only one out of 20 chains you start will actually make it there on average, even if you do everything right). 1/99 means you're hitting a shiny every 25ish resets, which should be less than 10 minutes.

    • @SamiiSam128
      @SamiiSam128 2 года назад

      Actually the chances of it breaking even when doing everything right is 7 percent, not 5 by what I saw number wise online.
      If you go to the furthest patch and catch it, it's a 93% chance it'll continue. Which sucks cause that is a pretty high number (even tho it doesn't look like it)

    • @connerblah
      @connerblah 2 года назад +6

I literally just reset the radar + used a million repels and got *THREE shiny Mareep* on the 41st, 42nd and 43rd chain! This is all in the span of maybe 30 minutes. After the third shiny, I got so bored and sabotaged the chain by fainting the third nearest patch hahahaha (27% chance to break).
    P.S. The other guides are BS. They aren't clear that your 1/99 odds are fixed on the 40th chain and all you had to do is walk around and reset the PokeRadar. Until this video, I was running the number up on the chain count because I thought I _had_ to smh.

  • @jmdilley02
    @jmdilley02 2 года назад +2

    I noticed that unlike some other people who made videos about this you failed to mention the reason you probably want to reset the radar at 39 is because once you encounter that 40th pokemon it will have 3 stats randomly have 31ivs and all other pokemon after 40 will not have that many perfect ivs unless you are really lucky and as far as I heard there's no set amount to get a pokemon with 4 perfect ivs but if you can get to 100 it should have at least 5 perfect ivs and no ideal if it is possible to get a pokemon with 6 perfect ivs from chaining! Also you didn't mention that you may want a pokemon with synchronize and the nature you want the pokemon your hunting to have as the lead pokemon to increase the chances that the pokemon you encounter have the same nature as your synchronize pokemon!

    So... I thought “four away” meant 4 steps... I’ve been going in to some grass tiles that were actually 3 tiles away, but took 4 steps... AHHHHH THATS WHY MY CHAINS KEPT BREAKING SO EARLY!!! Appreciate the tutorial man!

    I’m confused, I’m using the repel, have the fainted static Pokémon but run around in a patch & nothing is spawning Bc of the repel? I run around & it asks me to use another one?

    • @rvb150
      @rvb150 2 года назад +1

      You have to have the PokeRadar bound to your + button and use it, then patches of grass will shake and you'll be able to encounter a pokemon even with the repel.

    So, I've gotten only two shinies this way. A starly and a ralts. I messed up a couple times with the starly because the chain breaks, but did ralts perfectly in one go... I find it very frustrating that the chain breaks for no reason. Best of luck and may the hunting go in your favor.

    I'm still confused by the 4 spaces away...like exactly 4 or is more ok and how are diagonals counted...do I just wanna ho for the furthest away everytime¿

    • @braxinIV
      @braxinIV 2 года назад +1

      From what I’ve read diagonals don’t count. You have to go 4 steps in one direction. It doesn’t matter if you have to walk 2 to the left, and then 4 up, or 4 up and 1 to the right, all that matters is that you take 4 steps in one direction.

  • @MisterBriGuy

    It kinda sucks though how there is still a slim chance of breaking the chain no matter how perfect you do it... I would get like two or more tiles after a while that's at least 4 steps or more away and I can never tell which one is the perfect one to pick

    • @didi7363
      @didi7363 2 года назад +1

      getting to a chain of 40 is a 5% chance, so yeah it's pretty hard even though you do everything perfectly.

    UNREGISTER YOUR BIKES! I had a chain of 39, and I broke it by accidentally mounting my bike when trying to use the poke radar. I’ve been having a bad day ever since and haven’t come near 39 chain again. Don’t be a dumb ass like me. Unregistered your bikes. In fact unregister EVERYTHING expect the poke Radar!

    My first success to get a shiny Eevee yesterday using the pokeradar only got me 4 shinies but my first shiny patch was only 2 spaces away and because it was very early in the morning i went for it and thankfully kept going (i knew the bad odds of the spacing but really just wanted one shiny Eevee at least) but i also was really tired and hit the shiny patch at 41. Might try to go again so i can maybe get enough for all the evolutions though.

    Awesome guide, thank you so much! I do have two questions, though:
    1 - maybe I'm missing something obvious, but how can you tell, after the first mareep catch at 5:25 that the chain broke?
    2 - does this method apply to the underground, or do we just need to constantly jump the same pokemon in the underground, without getting interurpted by the others?

    Stopping at a chain of 39 is a good idea as the 40th Pokémon is guaranteed three maxed IV's.

    if you save and reset after every chain number it works ? Like if im at chain 30 and save and at 31 is breaking cand i reset to get back to chain 30 ?

      No, you can't save chains

  • @BillNWI
    @BillNWI 2 года назад

    How do you get the chain to last to 30? I always try and go to the furthest patch and the chain ends in the high single digits or not much more than 10. If it helps I'm on the update before the current one (so I can dupe still).
