I have infinite sympathy for uncatchable shinies and safari zone shinies, but if you fail it cause you did something easily avoidable (walking right instead of down) then you’ll get no sympathy from me XD
The person that failed the shiny Wooper in the Great Marsh, I feel that so hard, been in that position back in June during Safari Week to which I highly recommend more people take part in now that the Great Marsh is accessible to more people. For me, it was in the HGSS Safari Zone, I have two copies of SoulSilver so I was double hunting for Safari Week, my first Safari Week was 2020 & I didn't get anything, I was single hunting mostly because I wasn't use to double hunting but after having some experience with it, I was determined to see some sparkles & that I did. First off was a shiny Smeargle, threw a ball at it, it broke out, stayed, chucked another ball at it, it broke out & fled which stung because I really want a gen 4 shiny Smeargle. Second shiny I got was a Stantler, this gorgeous radio active deer was also near the top of my want list & it toyed with me so hard, it broke out of like 5 balls before fleeing. So yes, I can relate so much to the Wooper fail, my friend can too, she encountered a shiny Quagsire in the Great Marsh but in gen 4 back during June, she was the first one of the group of my friends to get something for Safari Week that year, it came very early & it fled after messing around with her a bit. Safari hunts are cruel but they're worth it, I lost full odds shinies in gen 4 due to her unforgiving nature but it created ones that got away stories plus I got shotty recordings of it on my phone so the fails are going to forever be available for me to watch again & remind myself that those shinies could of been mine of things went a little better.

I play Pokemon for soo long now.. i only zver once encountered a shine clamperl in sapphire.. i caught it and soon after.. my save file got corrupted and i had to start over.. saddest day indeed..
I have Shiny Failed three times in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond. Two scripted Shiny Starlies while trying to get a Shiny Starter, and after 47 Eggs hatched while trying to get the correct Nature, and Shiny Female Ralts hatched with a Calm Nature, and I wanted a Shiny Male Ralts with Adamant. The Shiny Female Ralts was double the fail.
I'm currently doing a Shining Pearl shiny only playthrough and last week I failed a shiny Geodude in the underground. I completely forgot that I redeemed the code for Quick Balls and I was half asleep at the same time. Here's me throwing Pokèballs at it and I totally forgot that at level 25 they know Self Destruct. I just watched in silence as my shiny Geodude which I got relatively quickly too kill itself. I've been stuck in the underground ever since. I ended up getting a shiny first encounter Houndoom the next day on my main Brilliant Diamond save which kinda hurt knowing it wasn't my Shining Pearl save.
It’s kinda funny everyone wants Whooper. I was trying to chain for a Roselia in the exact area that the number 2 fail was in and on my first time trying the radar in my that area I had a shiny patch and it was whooper and of course I caught it.
#4, I do not feel bad for him. He did so much stupid, he deserved to lose that shiny. Most significantly, he should have known that water type moves do x4 to the likes of rock-ground types like Onix. Yes, some of the onixes have sturdy but why take the chance? He could have easily avoided this fail by switching to one of his other pokemon to whittle its hp down then catch it.
My worst fail (with a legendar) was entai in pokemon collesum, went to weaken it and killed it one shot, missed out on a legendary which in that game is very demential considering very limited choice of Pokémon to choose from and they all are weak.
yo lowkey love your app man. I used to use the calculator on my phone to keep track of encounters but your app is so aethetically pleasing i really enjoy using it and even recommended it to some of my friends

I was thinking, how can you fail a radar hunt when the sparkle patch appears....yeah, hopping into a hidden normal patch will do it lol. Also, to be honest, I'd probably study check that onix too, lol.
This is why I never attack my shiny mons and just catch them as I DONT want them to struggle to death so that's why I NEVER EVER hit them at all also I'm hunting turtwig rn I'm at 260 SR no shiny birbs yet so lesgo!
I just failed a shiny Kyurem (under 500 SRs) in White 2 bruh. I had it in yellow and figured if it started using struggle, it’ll have enough hp left to where I could master ball it the next turn. One misclick later and now ik the importance of keeping track of PPs :(
i got a shiny ralts on a 43 chain, and i didn’t see there was a patch in front of the shiny patch that wasn’t shiny, i lost the shiny ralts. :/ (it’s on my twitter if anyone cares for me to link it)
Ill be honest, I was tempted to make a clip of the Full Odds Chatot, and submit it. I didnt fail it, but it went down to 1 HP from Fire Spin before getting caught. I was close to failing it. (I'm nicknaming it Maestro btw) Dont get me started on the Ralts brothers. I have a male Shiny Gardevoir and I love em.
I almost failed on an unintentional wild shiny Bibarel I was training my team in the underground I wasn't looking when it loaded in and stared at it for like 5 min trying to determine if it was shiny before catching it
Number 4 made me cringe hard. Why use a water move when all onix doesn't have sturdy? That's taking an unnecessary gamble when he could have just started chucking balls at it.
I will say I'm disappointed that they added the Great Marsh in as it originally was. Would have liked it if they handled it like if ORAS, where it exists but you're free to catch them like every other wild encounter. I say this cause in HG I found a shiny Riolu in the Safari Zone and yeah it ran off. It was the FIRST shiny I ever encountered, you know not counting the guaranteed stuff like the Red Gyarados, heck my sister's first shiny was a Zubat back in Sapphire that she got. So I could never forget that crushing defeat and out of all the shinies I now have I still don't have Riolu and/or Lucario as shiny. And to this day I still hate those Safari places and happy they got rid of them after. Really do feel that pain of Number 5 there.
