Real Time seems to have veered off course in recent years, particularly since the onset of the Trump presidency. It used to be an hour of engaging nuanced debates, but now feels more like a platform for the host's personal frustrations and grievances. The show's focus has shifted towards providing catharsis for Bill Maher. I see mainly repeated talking points and panelists with only TV charisma and little substance (I don't mean this particular panel. Jon Meacham is a great pundit). Maher's fixation on calling out 'wokes' has become a recurring theme, dominating each episode to the detriment of broader and more pressing socio-political issues.
Because Woke is a cancer that needs to be called for the Fantasyland that it is. Did you miss that little part where he showed children .... forced to take in the Tranny show? And you're wrong -- Maher has always gone after the topics that frustrate him most - and as a rule he does his homework (or talks to the right people perhaps)and conducts a decent interview to , hopefully, the right person/people.
Because wokeism has genuinely become a threat to the West. Your imaginary genders aren’t real just like sex changes, there is indeed reverse racism, the border is a threat, and, more than ever, people need to be reminded that chants of “Death to America” in America on American university campuses is not normal…and not okay.
Eamon de Valera was actually born in NYC, to an Irish mother and a Spanish father. I wouldn't exactly call him 'beloved' (at least by modern interpretations).
for those who want to know - Varadkar who was the Irish PM is multiracial & gay but was about to be ousted from his position for his 'disastrous referendum on >modernizing< the definitions of family and women's roles'. I believe he signed off on taking the word woman out of policies regarding women... And so there was a response to that.
I'm very proud of Bill resisting a rant about Covid. It's exhausting. Move on, Bill. As for China, the advantage they have in cyber warfare is their leadership do not need to worry about the home front rebelling or expelling them from office.
Too many want to forget about all of the tremendous errors & mistakes made during Covid and how quickly so many went radical. It's something we should all keep fresh in our minds.
Are you kidding? The sissypee leadership fear their own people more than anything else on earth... They have conditioned their people to accept and believe garbage, that makes it all that much easier to manipulate them with your own garbage
The COVID epidemic and our country's response is super important to discuss somewhere. It's not being discussed in the mainstream. Our public health response (in my opinion) was very suboptimal to our health (physical and emotional), our children's education and the economy. It's probably further reaching than this.
When Jillian Michaels was talking about the downside of Ozempic, and saying that "Eat less, move more," was the only way to lose weight, why didn't Bill ask her why the contestants she coached on NBC's The Biggest Loser have all gained back the weight they lost using her advice?

This was brought up during the height of the Russian disinformation campaign, that's still happening but not as strong, by national security advisors that we have the tools and technology to do so. Why we haven't is beyond me. Shutting the troll farms down would be a big win for us.
My guess is it has been done, but its never been publicized. No one will admit that it has been done to their servers, nor will anyone admit they did it. I'll bet the USA is far more capable than we think they are. Spy vs. Spy, it never ends.

Bill's right about restaurants. They use the cheapest of any produce, the cheapest cooks, servers. They use no-stick teflon pans and god knows how many plastic particles you get from restaurant food. I used to love to go out to eat all the time, but no more, I just have to think about what they are doing to my food and I forget all about it - usually.
My wife and I put on music at home and start cooking stuff. She makes the condiments, I make the entree and its amazing. No added salt and 0 preservatives. My chronic acid reflux is gone now. If I am out and about and have no choice but to eat in a restaurant, the acid comes back like a flame thrower. Cooking with her and the music makes it fun. Its a great time.
@@mpatrick7860 Cooking IS fun, but it gets boring and monotonous too. When it is something you have to do it can become a chore. Nice if you have someone to split the labor with, it goes faster. My ex and I used to cook together, and we make great meals. I usually if I have to dine out get the most whole food thing I can, which is usually a salad, or in the case of Chinese food, rice and some vegetable dish with mushrooms. Still there is always a lot of salt.
Bills comment about restaurants and the food addiction is spot on. They will salt and butter the hell out of dishes. Even brussel sprouts can give you a mouth orgasm slathered in brown sugar and lardons. Agreed with the comments here. Overtime needs to be longer because it is more relaxed. But not as relaxed as Club Random, which can be too relaxed at times.
Eat , drink , make love , listen to shows like this . WE ARE ALL GOING TO DIE ? WHO gets a medal for being healthy and living longer ? NO ONE ! Be happy and indulge . If you walk and breath and have no problems w pain, LOVE AND LIVE . Love is the most beautiful and powerful feeling while Alive . Just use common sense! I’m happy and I drink bc I love it , I smoke bc I love it . I’m older and I love life . Cats , dogs , pot , shopping ( sometimes ) visit my kids , sleep late . Eat what I want . I’m still alive . It’s ok to enjoy life . Why is this so hard ?
My mom smoked because she loved it; she died scared and in pain because of lung cancer and she got no medal for that either. No one lives forever, but your choices do matter, and knowing that is the definition of common sense.
There is some wisdom in what you say: I have a dear friend turning 101 later this month. She is nearly blind. Her mind is mostly good, but her memory is failing. She finds her mounting deficits, both mental and physical aggravating and tiring.Thankfully she is not in significant pain, but she is done with life. I speak with her everyday on the phone and she tells me daily that she wants to go to heaven (she is not especially religious but this is the language she uses). She was very health conscious her whole life: ate very little food that wasn't organic and healthy. She was a devoted member of a local walking club, so she exercised every day. Her doctor says she has the heart of an 80 year old and though at her age she could have a catastrophic organ failure at any time, there is no imminent demise on the horizon. Lessons? Maybe have that piece of pizza or a drink with friends.
What i hate about this show is the very limited amount of time they use to discuss real issues. Out of an hour and 15 minutes (including overtime) it seems like there might be 30 minutes of real discussion. I know Bill is a comedian, but I would love to see him cut the monologs or something to have more real discussion on the issues. This is literally the only semi non biased talk show. Virtually all the others are a joke!
thats because his audience doesn't want an overly serious political discussion show, so he's not going to deliver one. It would be boring. There's other shows for that.
Bill uses the word, 'They' much too freely. Some restaurants 'don't care' and others do. Those who do are not necessarily Vegetarian restaurants. I spent many years in the restaurant business, and know that owners and managers and Chefs are all keenly aware not only of what sells and taste great, but of what the general mood/desires of their customers and of the general population want. If it's healthier to use olive oil, garlic, fresh herbs, or even a Coke Zero, they will do it.
The Irish PM left due to losing a failed referendum. The far left changing the wording so much that reasonable Irish people had to say no. In a nut shell, all Irish women wanted was for the line ‘a women’s place is in the home’ removed. But no, the government meddled too far. The new wording would have protected abusive relationship by calling any relationship a family. So I could date a guy for a few months and he could argue we were a family and be entitled to part of my inheritance if a parent was to die. Devalera was an American! Who was the worst leader ever. The reporter says she'd go to Gaza.... but would she *really* go offer herself as a hostage? I doubt. There's a good reason journalists are not allowed to go there.
True. Also, when he asked the difficulty of covering it from the Gazan side, she didn’t mention that if she were in Gaza, she wouldn’t be allowed to say anything they don’t want her to say, and her life would be in danger if she tried. Also, it’s not true that Israel doesn’t let reporters in. It’s just dangerous. Douglas Murray went. And I’ve seen another RUclipsr there asking questions as well. Did she try? Or even ask? As an aside, she would be in danger in Gaza, under the best of circumstances, if she dressed the way she did on the show.
Another brilliant show. The final new rule was eye opening. John didn't seem to be able to engage on Bill's attempts to discuss the insanity on the left and how to talk to the right about it, and that is critical to the upcoming election. Bill is spot on with that.
more you couldn't hear it! ..the term.insanity of the left is a white noise machine some of you use to drown out the lobotomy of some on the so called right.
Well because it’s nonsensical. You can’t control what people think or what they do by exercising their freedom of speech and trying to tie college kids and random Tik takers to Joe Biden as if he’s directing them the way Trump directs the worst elements of his party is really disgusting and disingenuous by Maher. Biden has never said Hamas is to be applauded meanwhile Trump equivocates that there are “very fine people on both sides” when commenting on white nationalist actions in Charlottesville. Big difference and I just hope rational people can tell the difference before it’s too late.
and that's why western democracies are being run by the inmates, the left won't admit, deny, extract, ignore the left wing zealots, which are just as bad as the right wing zealots, it's why we have the new Nazis, Islamist Muslims and the Liberal white woke, being tolerated by the new version of the Chamberlain's, it's time for the normal middle silent majority to start standing up to them, clearly John missed that, which is the problem, why Trump has a chance again
I also like snacks. My doctor got me on whole grains and they are not bad. Good flavor. They are on the healthy side of the store. Whole grain foods provide fiber, vitamins, minerals and other nutrients. Control cholesterol levels, weight and blood pressure. They help lower the risk of diabetes, heart disease.
Bill, I think I missed your response there about all those reporters being killed, so they don't tell the truth about the Israeli genocide. I must have missed that!

And regular rabid attacks on Trump. OK we get it, you hate the guy.

Eamon de Valera was actually born in NYC, to an Irish mother and a Spanish father. I wouldn't exactly call him 'beloved' (at least by modern interpretations).

Just because it’s exhausting doesn’t mean we shouldn’t talk about it.

That's why I look at most of them as a dangerous proposition. They essentially make money off of cheap ingredients with origins of mystery.
Rarely eating out, because after any meal in any restaurant, I'm soooo thirsty. Duhhh, they are using a lot of salt !

Cooking IS fun, but it gets boring and monotonous too.

It’s ok to enjoy life . Why is this so hard ?
My mom smoked because she loved it; she died scared and in pain because of lung cancer and she got no medal for that either. No one lives forever, but your choices do matter, and knowing that is the definition of common sense.
There is some wisdom in what you say:
I have a dear friend turning 101 later this month.

What i hate about this show is the very limited amount of time they use to discuss real issues. Virtually all the others are a joke!
Bill thinks he’s a comedian. I don’t agree. I don’t find his brand of humor funny.
