      @@chrishatfield7548 Glad you enjoyed! I could do a standalone build guide for this fort, though I'd probably improve it a bit, it was deliberately quite simple for this test but it could be built up a little more

      Having a real issue placing the archers on the slots. ghost spot just does not come up most of the time. Then later one that was not working will jsut work but the others will not. Also tried to move some archers from one to another and the ghost slot went away on the new one and the old one. @@Eradicati0nn

      I think I should add that while you can revert the camera stuff there is some pretty obvious issues with thralls right now. Archers doing 0 damage on some hits or firing at the feet of enemies. Also thralls attacking nothing, like they see a target in a different spot. Mostly with polearms. Not just a few times as well, Like half the time. Not sure if it is the new spears animations or the new npc movement but it is not great.
      Edit: I take that back, it is not just spears. Seems to be any weapon, thralls jsut decide to attack in a direction, regardless of a target there, and stick to it for full combos. Just had a couple of them combo off the side of a cliff with no targets.

      @@Malaena That's odd, I've not heard about it myself, but people have been a little more caught up with the ban issue, understandably 😂 I'll test it out myself and see if I can spot the same issue

      what? every new patch comes with more bugs than the previous one... pve servers are pure shit, low fps because of monster bases... pvp pure shit because of flying bases, meshed bases and cheaters... funcom is a joke (sorry for my bad english)...

      Oh I don't care about any of that; to me Conan is basically a single player game so I never have an issue with servers being bad. Your English is perfectly fine by the way.@@DryadRoot

    I feel like nobody knows that archers always have been able to be 'turrets'. Just go to their menu > Tactics > Stand & Defend. Give them a bow and you now have archers that do not move an inch from their position, and fire arrows at a rapid pace. Trust me, this is real, I have done this for years. Also, put their Attack Range and Chase Distance at 30 meters, for optimal value!

      Not sure how feasible it would be, but having a way to "mass" set thralls to do something would be nice.
      Like an "Apply to All [insert type]" option so we aren't spending 5 minutes setting them up.

      It is click heavy but yeah.
      Though i feel like archer posts allow your archers to be closer to the wall's edge. Correct me if i'm wrong.

    I got so tired of my archers trying to pull out melee weapons and run down to the gate to fight. This looks like it will be a really great upgrade and I look forward to what Funcom can do with future updates.

      Talk about it! I literally have to lost them in archer towers, and yet, somehow, they still end up on the group, fighting the front lines -.-
      This feature is a blessing.

      just change their tactics, never had them leave their spot with the right settings. I still like this because they were still bad at firing into walls and floors. this sounds better like it makes the placement piece the center of where they fire from.​

      Maybe just me... but when you take their melee weapon away, they stick to the bow.

      I don't even take them away just set them to not chase far and to go with ranged priority they will then only go melee when something gets up to them and attacks. More of what I am looking forward to is less of them just shooting at walls or not shooting because the building is in the way

    ooo i love this! after letting a level 1 purge come and destroy our starter base i now see we need proper defences. you've got some good ideas here that i;m gonna use.

    They best strategy for tier 10 purges, archers are detrimental. For splitting mobs and agro-ing, evening out the odds.
    If you can afford noxious gas arrows, super bonus.

    I feel like there's some inconsistency with how people percieve archers in this game.
    If you just set them to "Stand and Defend" in tactics, and set their aggro range to max5, they won't move. They'll just sit there and shoot. Even if they have pathing, they'll just stand there and fire. And they'll switch to melee weapons if a bad guy gets into their melee range.

    The bad thing i've noticed about the "guard location" is that your action wheel clips through the door and you end up opening the thrall menu while you're trying to quickly open and close your doors. Which, is a really bad bug.

    I've always placed my archers in strategic positions put their behavior to attack all enemies and their tactics to stand and guard. The won't run around and will just stand there and shoot. But I guess the new archer posts makes it easier for people who don't know this. I really like that you can add thralls to siege cauldrons though, I hope they will also do this with trebuchets at some point.

    Nice! I bet lowering the archer towers would ensure better chances to hit targets. Following modern machine gun theory and tactics, a flatter projectile trajectory would provide a larger danger zone.
    Finding the perfect tower design for maximal effectiveness would be a cool experiment.

      That's very true, in retrospect I probably could have had even better coverage had I dropped the tower down a tile or more. I might see if I can put together a video experimenting with tower designs to see how it plays out

    changing up how i have to make bases for these now too. but those archer posts look amazing! no more running around for them. Now i just hope they fix it so the purge bases can be built in more areas. too many times i get that error that they cant find a spot to make a base lol

    At what level purge do these schematics start to appear? I have never gotten a level 3 purge or higher to work because the 'hand of war' won't spawn for me to end the purge, even after his forces break against my defenses for a good twenty real world minutes...

    You don't happen to have a build guide for a purge base anywhere? Never done one and don't really know what's required in building something.

    this is a good content update. i get that some want more story from the age of war but i think these ages that focus more on the new content is needed.

      Yeah this type of content was definitely needed. The Age of War has a little bit of lore, but it's just enough to frame all the new stuff, which is perfectly fine

    I can't wait for this next season, these additions as well as the tavern are going to be great. One question do your thralls get hurt with the burning tar?

      I think so too! I believe they might take tar damage, and the player might too, though I can't confirm 100% as I had my HUD turned off to record the battle during the segment where they may have been taking damage 😂 The damage is pretty weak at the moment though

      I think there is a friendly fire option slider in the server settings, so do check that one out. If you're usually able to beat up your own thralls (or vice versa), the cauldron will probably grill them to some extent. 🤔

    I love these new updates, the purge is really a challenge to be managed properly, i use golems and zombies on foot and all thralls i use are archers on the walls and cauldrons so this new feature is really helpful to me...doing the same for a trebuchet should be good but i think will add something in the future. The loot I'd say is a bit disappointing considering that containing purges may make you lose trained thralls with expensive equipments on them so that's why i use golems, thralls are too precious to me considering how hard and expensive is leveling and gearing them up... anyway I'm happy with these new updates and can't wait to try them. Thanks for the video Eradication. 🙂

      Thanks Nicola, glad you enjoyed the video! I'd like to see thralls manning trebuchets, though I'm not sure how realistic an idea it is, given the many variables, unless they'll just pull the lever and reload after you set the parameters

      @Eradicati0nn another thing I never understood is why funcom removed undead construct from crafting... to make wight skeletons and undead serpentmen I have to use creative mode... considering I play a Witch and an undead army to defend my base should be the first choice I really don't understand why they removed those contents...🤔

    do the archer post have inf ammo? and wath quality arrows do you recomend to give your thralls? should they have a bacup melee weapon?

    I just add a lot of doors, confuses the hell out of mobs and allows me to place more thralls in a tight area. Nothing gets thru. Lots of archers wear them down. Along with tar and noxious arrows. Archers in the rear have healing arrows. Never lose a thrall. Unless something glitches

    So I haven’t had a lot of the problems that other people have with their archers, Are usually adjust their engagement setting to “ranged only”
    • And while they do move they don’t try to run down and attack them with a melee weapon.
    • However I am interested in comparing and contrasting them together. Will stationary posts beat out engagement settings?

    Anyone have any advice...my friends and I would love to set up some defenses like this but.... we also love getting named thralls from the purges and if you set up a good defense the named thralls get wrecked before we can KO them. Interested in how others do it.

    Is there any specific setting you have to have the siege cauldron thralls on? I finally unlocked the burning siege cauldrons and set some above the gates in my fort's ring of death, but instead of pouring boiling tar the fighters I set to man them just run about the ramparts trying to hit enemies with their melee weapons... despite being a good three floors above them...

    I am hoping for thralls that can manage the trebuchets. I was always bad at math and it didn't improve with age.
    It's always a struggle to set them up and I usually give up and just go to face the purge head on.
    But I doubt the thralls will be able to handle the trebuchts too. The programming for that, especially if they need to set the angle and distance and not only launching the boulders, it's probably not feasible.
    I no longer use the trebuchets, which is probably fine because I play single player.
    Instead, I train a lot of pets and thralls and if they are doing fine I try to use the siege cauldrons or use sorcery from a safe spot.

      I'm 50/50 on if thralls will ever be able to man trebuchets, seeing as it seems they'd prefer us to control the raiding tools. However, if they could, it'd probably be a case of you dialling in the settings, and the thralls firing either whenever they can, or on command, so it's not impossible

    Nice i like it, but what about friendly fire on those caludrons, fighter thralls doesent get dmg from them ?

      I think it was mentioned in the dev stream that they did friendly fire at the time, but the damage was fairly inconsequential, and they were looking at fixing it. I'm not sure if that has been fixed yet, but if not, I imagine it will get fixed when they buff the cauldrons

      I can't say with certainty, but I'm fairly sure I've seen those recipes in purges below level 10

    In footage i have seen about the new tavern system theres thralls or npcs sitting down. I wonder if that'll be a new thrall placement

    It's getting more and more interesting. With the thrall setting system, the game becomes more and more immersive, combined with the inn, we already have the foundation for a varied PVE. It's a pity that such changes are only now taking place, when a lot of people have already given up on the game due to boredom in recent years.
    We can only hope that developers will not stop adding similar content. I guess they have already realized, based on their own example and that of other open world games, that games without a well-functioning NPC system will sooner or later become deserted and fade away. Let's take Fallout 76 as an example, which was in decline, devoid of interesting content related to PVE and NPCs.

      Thanks Piotr! Dennis said a couple of times on the dev stream that they wanted to breathe more life into the world, and better late than never. I'm particularly excited for the future of the Tavern system

      The developers emphasized that Tavern is just the beginning if the idea catches on. I can already see in my mind's eye the shopping stalls with stallholders calling for purchases, the barracks of the city militia, coliseums for gladiators, merchant caravans wandering through the land of exiles... Dreams? Is it a coming reality? I hope that Conan's world will come to life.

    Anyone know what tier of Purge the Schematics come from? A friend and I have done a few t1s, and one t2 and t3 and we haven't seen a single schematic, yet we've got multiple Components.

      I'm not sure on exact numbers, but I think the schematics come from higher difficulty purges, so I'd wager probably 6/7 and upwards. Might be a bit difficult to tackle those right now with the demolisher bug, though if you can consistently stunlock them it should hopefully be a bit easier

    Wait, this feature didn’t make it to AoW chapter 3 live? I tried to place my archers on Aquilonian Crenelated walls but there is no “ghost”.

      It's definitely in the chapter, did you pick up the items/blueprints for the Archer Posts? That's what enables the ghosts

    looking at the video it seems like they still have an issue with shooting into the corners and hitting the crenellations instead. Maybe still better then they were, Most of the time I just removed anything in front of them, it works but certainly does nothing for the aesthetics of your buildings.

      Yeah they do have issues with shooting into corners, though that might be resolved with lower profile crenelations, as Reinf Stone ones are a bit bulky compared to some others

    2/17/24 archer posts aren’t showing the ghost slot on console rn

      I've had that a couple of times on PC in various ghost slots (seating, nemed book etc), though I find it still works, as the ghosts eventually show up again. Is it consistent on console?

    This is excatly same setup im using (archer towers in front of gates, mine just have 4 archers). These purge idiots are not the smartest :) For some reason they spent lot of time running around archer towers, even if they cant get them :) It would be more scary if demolizers would target archer towers walls and smash them. Then purge would be much scarier. But demolishers always go for doors and gates sadly.

    Rules of sieges.
    Constrict enemies choices.
    Force a choke point.
    Turn Choke point into kill zone.
    Minimize possible enemy cover/dead zones.
    Place archers to encourage concentration of fire.
    Get some beefcakes for distractions in the kill zone.

    This must be pc because on Xbox the oil isnt burning. Its just smoking and hot af.

      I had that a couple of times, I think it's a graphical glitch. It will eventually catch on fire again, but I'm pretty sure you can still pour it for the fire

    ...It's all fine and well on PVE, but the hackers/cheaters are still spreading like wildfire on PVP.
    Nowdays every clan has their "secret" friend who is called when opposing clan has cheaters, PVP boils down to cheating the hell outta the game. It's like ARK and it's aimbotters.

    So instead of just making the things we already have just work (the cauldrone und fenceposts), they create extra-versions for us to grind for. Hard pass. Let it work without extra-steps or let it rot.
