so many people are talking about the price, this camera is literally cheaper then the x100v when you account for inflation. $1400 in 2020 is equal to $1700 in todays money. also, considering the resale cost of the x100v, fuji probably could have charged more due to that alone. factor all that in and it has a higher res sensor with IBIS? Great price and a great deal imho.

Not to mention that his recommendation literally doesn’t have all the same bells and whistles and fixed focal length is better for beginners. All in all I disagree with the entire video lol

@@gondokingo3931 fr, like, do you know how many people come up to me asking for camera recommendations? I’m at a point where I’m like, I doubt you’re gonna go down this rabbit hole. Just get something simple, you’re not gonna spend the money on good glass. You’re not going to want to learn about why non variable aperture makes a lens more expensive. You’re not gonna want to hear that you’re 18-10 million didn’t make you a better photographer and you should’ve got a 35. The options are overwhelming to beginners. So yeah, let’s talk about the 40mp ibis sensor with built in ND’s. Because as time goes on you’re gonna have something to appreciate rather than google what to buy next.

I’d have to say I sort of agree. The x100vi is probably a little over the top for someone just starting out with photography. It’s really a tool for someone with experience, who knows the limitations and how to work around them or use them to their advantage. However, with the 50 and 28mm conversion lenses, it’s really not that impractical. And especially if someone can get an older x100F - like the one you’re displaying - without breaking their bank, it’s still a great experience to limit oneself to one (or three) focal lengths and really “learn” photography before stepping down into the GAS rabbit hole ;)

Interesting point, and I guess you're right for people whose main goal is use specialized lenses. But I started out with a Canon AE-1 with one lens (50mm 1.8) when I was in college and it was only lens I could afford for more than a year. But having just one lens/focal range taught me how compose my shots, and use my feet as my zoom and wide angle lens. Thanks for sharing.

I agree with everything you said. Brilliant critique. I am a total Fujifilm fan and exclusively use the XT4 and 5. But this camera is really super hyped up. Brilliant alternative is the XS10 as well. Spoken like a true Gujju!

Well actually the price is the same or even cheaper than even the most expensive earliest models in real terms, because inflation as we all know unfortunately cannot be ignored. It doesn't make it cheap, but it does put it into perspective. Its not more expensive, the numbers are just bigger.
Agree its not a good first camera. Because its not beginner orientated - its complicated. However 23 or 35mm on apsc is a great focal length to start with. Zooms don't help with learning composition or the camera itself. And anyone with a slightly older smartphone is used to fixed focal length or at least digital zoom only.
Don't forget there is a wide angle converter lens and telephoto converter, both cheaper than dedicated lenses. And wirh rhe VI, the sensor gives much more flexibikity for digital cropping in camera or in post processing.
As to cheaper alternatives that arent just small (x-t30) or closer to travel compacts of yesteryear, but maintain the charm and style of the rangefinder style, why not consider the £400 x70 with its fixed 18.5mm focal length (like a smartphone) or even previous generations of the x100. Prices of the V have plummeted. I just picked up an almost new x-100v with the wide angle converter lens and various lens hoods and other accessories for £1100. That's an x100v for £900 or so. And there are now plenty around the £1000-1200 range.
If that's that is really the right camera for whoever is interested.
Worth mentioning that fuji UK will loan out any camera or lens completely for free including free courier pick up and collect for 2 days (more like four the way they areange drop off and collect). Maybe they won't have too many spare x100vi to loan, but a great way to at least try before you buy.

Hello, if you add the inflation , this camera is actually cheaper than the X100V when came out and even cheaper than the first X100...

A nice film and has some valid points. Why not learn about photography on an iPhone 15 Pro Max then?
I started in the mid 1960s with a box brownie (no lens), then a Practika with no metering and a 50mm 2.8 Tessar, when that was stolen I got a Minox 35GT (35mm Aperture priority with a superb lens), then a Fuji DL mini (28mm superb lens), only then did I move to Canon, Bronica and ultimately a clockwork Fuji 6x9 with a fixed lens…..the grandaddy of the X100 VI.
Now I have loads of fancy Canon stuff but I just got an X100VI to take on a tour to China. Why? Because I know how to get great photos from a good quality fixed lens camera.
For a beginner, I’d think a second hand Lumix or Canon bridge for about £400 and 20MP is a good place to start. As a step up the brilliant EOS M5 and the 22mm would be an excellent choice too. Very small, razor sharp, superb user interface and beautifully made. You may recall that an M5 and a 22mm would have cost about £1300 when launched so given inflation about the same as an X100VI.
Given the M to EF mount convertor, the starter can then get the unbelievably sharp first gen Canon 50mm 1.8, then a decent telephoto. The EOS M zoom lenses are all great too apart from the telephoto which is fine but not brilliant.
I’d never advise a starter to get a semi pro camera like the X100 VI. Even an old 50D and a couple of lenses would be cheap. Spend the other £1k on a long weekend to London and Paris and start looking for photographs rather than snaps.
By the way, I also use an iPhone 13 Pro and love it too……as I know how to use it….

I didn't see anything in the header about starting out photographers tips, but it went that way a lot. I think respectfully you might have got a lot wrong here , other than the 23mm F2 lens is great and there is nothing wrong with an Xt30 but the comparison was way out in important parts.

Which fuji camera do you recommend to beginners for landscape/nature and people/ street… just for a hobby but a serious hobbyist without compromising much??

Remember there is a WCL and TCL add on lens to get a 28mm and 50mm respectively with little to no IQ loss.

Hey- there is a screw on 50mm equivalent that is excellent. Why not use that. The other thing is lead shutter and flash sync at 1/4000 sec with built in nd filter. What’s not to like.

Thank you for your video and your honest assessment! If you can and want to spend that much money, you could also buy the Fuji X-T5. Then you have the same technical equipment as the X100VI and you can also use other lenses. At least that's my assessment as a newbie. 😉

Your truth is somewhat misguided. As your main premise of this camera is that its geared towards beginners and they should steer clear beacuse of Lens focal length limitations. As we all know the Fuji X100 line of cameras are a niche and specific camera geared towards the Street photography genre, evident by its small compact size, its 35mm equivalent focal length and is hybrid optical view finder. I am struck by your comment to the general audience that you say " as a beginner photographer". In what way do you think this is geared to beginners. This is geared towards seasoned camera users that are comfortable with a full manual lens, and love to take Street photography.
Your video is null and void in my opinion. Just pointing out the obvious.

The Lumix LX100 ii is a wonderful camera. This one is a good one too but too much hype.

    • @Panphobia
      @Panphobia 6 месяцев назад +1

The LX100ii is nice, but it seems to have a massive sensor dust issue that is well documented and has never really been addressed by Panasonic. It also lacks a tilting screen and decent autofocus. Hard to compare. But if it’s merely about design, I absolutely support the term “wonderful”

@@Panphobia 100% yes. I had the First version. Sold it because of sensor dust. Looking to buying the II version but will be very careful not to get dust. The sensor/ image quality is excellent.
