    Ok kids 2006 envoy gear selector stuck in the park position problem. After finding the interlock button I discovered the hole problem was the cable end at the transmission had come apart and the transmission was stuck in drive so no crank and the interlock wouldn't work ether god you got to love the GM engineering

    Thanks! My 2003 Chevy trailblazer broke down on the freeway and I couldn’t get it out of park once the tow truck driver put it in park in my driveway! I wanted it in my garage! It wouldn’t start so I had to do something! Thanks!

    I realized after posting, I need to explain that in the first part of this video, the camera was aimed a bit high so that the hole that was drilled for access to the BTSI is barely visible at the bottom edge to the screen. If you watch closely, you can see the screwdriver inserted to push the BTSI button but in a limited view. Later in the video, the camera is adjusted and aimed lower to show how the screwdriver is inserted in the hole to push the button. Please comment if you have trouble understanding the process so that I will know if I need to remake this video. I hope this idea is helpful as it was for me until i got my BTSI working properly. Please consider subscribing and hit "like". Thanks, and Have a Great Day!

    To add to your video. A 5” or better screwdriver could reach that button from the shifter boot entrance

    Is it possible to slide your hand down inside the shift console and press the bitton after you remove the boot? Or do you need to hold that button down while shifting?

    • @cubmancan
      @cubmancan  2 года назад

      I wouldn't think there is room for a hand to get in there. I did try like a bent screwdriver or stiff wire but had no luck with that. Also was concerned that my probing around might damage the mechanism or wires going to the switch. If you try it let me know if you can get it that way. I am pretty sure that Once you get it out of Park it will shift through the gears until you put it in Park again. It only locks in the Park position. Thanks for watching!

    SAFETY WARNING! BE VERY CAREFUL WHEN WORKING ON ANY GEAR SHIFTER ISSUES! MAKE SURE THE VEHICLE CANNOT ROLL BY LOCKING THE PARKING BRAKE AND USING CHOCKS ON THE WHEELS - AT A MINIMUM THE REAR WHEELS SHOULD BE PROPERLY CHOCKED BUT ALL 4 WHEELS CHOCKED IS BEST. WORKING ON A LEVEL PARKING SURFACE IS ALSO CRITICAL!
    You may need the assistance of a mechanic trained and experienced with this type of vehicle as It sounds like you could have more than one issue. That said, a shifter mechanism out of sync with the actual transmission can cause a lot of problems due to the signals the vehicle's on board computer is recieving and sending. The key switch will only crank the engine over if the actual transmission itself is in the park or neutral position (a malfunctioning shifter or cable mechanism may cause a difference in the shifter position and the actual transmission position.) I would begin by inspecting the shifter related linkages and mechanisms (ALWAYS STABILIZE THE VEHICLE FIRST). You may have a bad shifter cable issue or - possibly the cheapest to fix and most likely- only the grommet at the end of the cable may be worn/bad/disconnected. You also could have a BTSI issue keeping the shifter locked up, but that is less likely. There are steps on other videos that explain those issues. A first-step easy, cheap fix for that may be to pull the shifter lever boot up and try a bit of WD40 at the points shown in the video. As a diagnostic measure you could drill a hole in the side of the console in the right position (shown on the BTSI video) to manually release the BTSI lock -BUT BE CAREFUL TO ENSURE THE VEHICLE CAN'T ROLL IF YOU MANUALLY OPERATE THE BTSI SOLENOID!
    AGAIN: WARNING! MAKE SURE THE VEHICLE IS STABILIZED AS WORKING ON ANY SHIFT RELATED PART MAY PULL THE TRANSMISSION OUT OF THE PARK POSITION! USE PARKING BRAKES AND WHEEL CHOCKS ON LEVEL GROUND! Most of all, be very careful, get professional help if you need it - Thanks for Watching!
