Seeing the list of countries, it was clear that it will be a duel between Poland and Romania... and I had this feeling despite not knowing how well any of these countries did in the 90's...
Indeed, Poland simply fared better than everyone else in the 90s (and early 2000s) or just flat out did not have competition unless they were relegated. That changed when the semi-finals were introduced with Albania and Romania initially getting the spotlight, then Hungary and Bulgaria, and now Czechia
Fun fact: Those countries were part of their own Eurovision called Intervision, which it starts in the organized in 1965 to 68, 77 to 80 it ended in 2008, though some rumors that it's gonna be revived after Russia got kicked out in awake of the invasion of Ukraine in 2022.
Hi! Thanks for this great video. I have an idea for the following video: The countries of the former Yugoslavia against the countries of the former USSR (And such videos can be made with the countries of the former Warsaw Pact, the Nordic countries, the Benelux countries, the Big Five). For example, if a Big Five country ranks higher than any of the previously mentioned categories and receives more points
I wrote a reply earlier to someone who asked about the ex-USSR countries The USSR was comprised of more states than the rest of the Warsaw Pact put together, including Albania and the part of Czechoslovakia that is Slovakia, and if I were to include the ex-USSR participating countries, I'd have a video *too* inclusive, with only 6 winners still being from what's otherwise the WP, whereas the rest would just be the ex-USSR states, at which point they may as well get their own video
Poland definitely had the advantage in the 1990s, from the 2nd place debut to just...being above the relegation line, I guess. Other countries, especially Romania, were more successful since 2000 but didn't beat Poland in terms of high placements
It's gonna be a bit of a read... The USSR by itself had more republics integrated into itself than the entire rest of the Warsaw Pact, and that is still true if you include just the countries that have participated at Eurovision at least once, to the point where they'd rather have a separate video. It'd be too inclusive to also have Moldova, Ukraine, Russia, the Baltics, the Caucasus and Belarus, and dare I say a tad bit...boring, especially since the winners would still be from the USSR in the majority of enlisted years (barring 6, which would be 1993, 1994, 2005, 2010, 2017 and 2018) By that logic, I shouldn't have included Slovakia, but there's not a major difference between having 6 countries and 7, especially when both Czechia and Slovakia were still part of the same country, being *equal bodies*, not to mention that they were actually still eligible to participate together from 1990 to 1992, and there would be no difference from what the video actually ended up being, barring 1993, whereas it'd be night and day between having 7 and *17*, and those 10, while being part of a single nation, had nowhere near the level of equality, and the states split as early as the Spring of 1990... So with that, I can draw my conclusion that the countries included in this video make sense, no more, no less
Dear author, why did you add the year 1993 to this video, when Slovakia, Hungary and Romania only participated in the qualifying round? These countries did not even participate in the Eurovision voting in Millstreet
Germany has never competed as East Germany, but rather as West Germany, and everything since 1990 has remained pretty western, with western participants, and just...one Germany, taken by the Western counterpart. So I didn't include it. Unlike Czechoslovakia that split into two countries that did participate, East Germany got annexed into West Germany, therefore ceasing its existence
cool format:)

I don't hate the idea
I don't know how to formulate this into a title though
Thank you very much for this interesting video!
It was all my pleasure
Warsaw pact exluding USSR is like NATO excluding USA.
Check the description or older comments with replies for the USSR aspect
Also, that analogy doesn't work in the context of ESC...
can you one for the Benelux as well?
I would love to see Albania as a winner for 4 times, even more, especially in 2019
You forgot about Soviet Union! Where are Ukraine, Russia, Estonia, Moldova, Latvia, Armenia and the others?
I wrote a reply earlier to someone who asked about the ex-USSR countries

@@PenguinESC OK. You only should emphasize that there is Warsaw pact in the video without ex USSR. 🙂
@@andrijadjordjevic9584 there's a separate video for the ex-USSR countries who competed in ESC ruclips.net/video/g8Z0kOugiuA/видео.html
Eh, I don't like the new SL version that much, it feels unnecessarily shorter, I might as well do my own version later lol
@@PenguinESC can you do one for the former Yugoslavia too & Nordic countries as well?
At last my country (Poland) doing well in something Eurovision related, especially when they’re only one competing

i love the club penguin vibes of this video 🤣
Much appreciated
I'm a little confused why you decided to have Czechia and Slovakia competing but not the ex-USSR countries.

Thought of adding that as an extra since it's their pre-debut
Aiko should've qualified 😢 and Besa
Why didnt you include germany?

another thing is Germany is apart of the big five countries that usually is seen in the grand finals since its existence in 2004
Slovakia has 1
KzM:
Albania was not a member of WP
It was, but Albania is the only country that withdrew from the Pact during its existence
