I have bought the anti fungal cream, but how can I help the healing between my toes. The pharmacist said to not apply directly on broken skin, just around. Any advice welcome. Thanks
Hi! It sounds like the skin is macerating and splitting. Iodine based antiseptics can help keep wounds clean and prevent infection. Keep the webbing space areas dry as possible - dry between toes throughly, use dry shoes, reduce humidity by increasing air and daylight to your feet - some basic principles to follow, hope it helps. 🙌
So I ended up with athlete's foot about11 months ago. Only the space between the fourth and fifth toe on one foot was affected and I used an over-the-counter for 2 months just to be on the safe side. I really have no idea how I got it in the first place, as it had been months since I was last barefoot in a public space, and I'd never had it before. Anyway, the cream took care of it, and I tossed the socks and shoes I wore while infected. I've been washing my feet everyday and changing socks, cleaned the shower, and I haven't set a bare foot on my floor since I realized what I had. Yet, just last week, I discovered a crack in the crease between the third and fourth toe on the opposite foot, this time. I decided to try Vaseline first, as my feet were fairly dry because I hadn't moisturized in awhile. The crack did close up, but the skin around it has peeled more. Then yesterday, I found a crack in the exact same spot on the other foot. If it were really a fungal infection, would the cracks be healing with Vaseline alone? Cause they sure didn't last time, until I started the antifungal. Also last time, the itching was intense, whereas these two new areas haven't itched at all. I went ahead and started treating them with antifungal, regardless. But if I have got it again, what's causing it?
Cracks can develop because of athletes foot, but can also develop if the skin is dry, or if macerated. After treatment, dry between the toes well after washing and monitor. Any probs see your podiatrist. Thanks for the message! All the best with it.

Usually I advise using antifungal shoe spray daily for at least a month. You can usually walk around after 30 seconds of applying antifungal cream - apply thinly. May be both of you try using the antifungal cream so you can't pass it back and forth? You can motivate and remind each other 😇 Hope that helps. Thanks for the questions, and best of luck with it 🙌
Hi, it will vary, but for skin (athletes foot), terbinafine or miconazole creams usually work well for my patients. I usually advise sticking with one, if there are no signs of improvement after 1 month, change it. Best wishes 🙌
Adding some regular cream afterwards shouldn't reduce the effect of the antifungal. I remember a study with antifungal and urea cream worked as well as antifungal alone in treating athletes foot. Thanks for your comment
I just got mine but it’s on my feet and my arms it started on my feet and got on my fingers and moved on to my arms so after I put it on my feet can I put my socks back on after? Thank you
Hi, you can put socks on after applying the cream. Remember to wash hands at the end of treatment and try not to scratch the areas. Thanks for the comment!
Hi! Yes, it can spread to other parts of the body. This is easily done if you scratch the infected area and then another part of your body, or transferring via towels. Ring worm is common name for a fungal infection on the skin, but isn't caused by a worm! The medical terms for these are tinea corporis, tinea cruris, tinea capitus... depending on the area of the body affected. I'll add a link to a good paper in the description for you, and you can read a bit more if you are interested! Thanks for the question!
@Mutalib Abeeb humid season (increased moisture) generally will make it worse, but you must not be getting rid of all of it for it to come back. Some general tips: thoroughly treat the skin, socks, and shoes. Also, make sure your floors and bath/shower bases are cleaned regularly with something that will kill fungus. Try not to go barefoot in public high traffic areas. If you are still struggling see a local Podiatrist. Good luck with it! Thanks for commenting.
Hi! Is it spray for the shoes, or spray to the skin? Usually for the skin you just spray and slide the sock on afterwards - see directions on the product.
Hi, that shouldn't be necessary. Antifungal cream, antifungal shoe spray, and clean socks daily. All the other things just be sensible and clean periodically. All the best!
Can this Antifungal Cream work on my Private Area's too? I have experienced Jock Itch. The most common area of my Privates is my balls. It itches a lot, which is annoying. Will this cream stop my ball itch, you think Doctor?

Thank you for this video! I have a few additional questions. Should you disinfect your shower each time you shower if you have athletes foot?If so, which disinfectant do you recommend? How do you prevent it from spreading to your hands? Should gloves be used when applying ointment to your feet?
Hi! Regular bathroom cleaner should be fine. Probably not after every use is necessary but I personally would do at least twice a week. Wash hands after application of antifungal cream. Gloves can be used but not necessary. Thanks for the comment, and all the best with it 🙌
I am having trouble clearing mine up. It started from the top of my feet and then migrated to the bottom of my foot in different areas. Can you clear up some stuff for me?
Can I spread it to other parts of my foot when applying the cream? I have eczema and it spread to my hands. I didn't know I had a fungal infection on my feet.
@dawn-marierain3188 you can spread it to other parts of your foot. Scratching with your fingernails or rubbing one foot over the other can increase risk of spreading it. Generally, over the counter creams for your skin, and spray for your shoes works very well. Sometimes changing the antifungal active ingredient in the cream can help too if it's taking a long time to settle. Thanks for your question, and hope its under control soon! 🙏
Hi Donald. Generally all wounds should be covered to reduce the risk of infection. What you cover it with will depend on the type of wound though. After a nail or a skin surgery it's usually Jelonet, gauze and held with tubinette and micropore - a non adherent dressing directly on, gauze to absorb and cushion and then something to hold it in place. Thanks for your question!
If I put it on before bed, then my hands are sticky from the cream so I need to go to the sink and wash them but then it all treks off across the carpet. Plz advise me
You may be putting more cream on than you need? If not, you could wear clean socks afterwards or wear flip flops. It usually dries on the feet in a minute. Hope you're getting on well 🙌
Hi, antifungal creams are commonly used to treat fungal infections on the face. Although, I do not have any experience with this as I am a foot specialist. See your doctor / dermatologist to be sure. Best of luck with it.
can some antifungal cream make things worse? I bought an antifungal cream called canesten and I couldnt help but notice that it made the rug burn on my genitals flare up. The only way i can describe it is they made the wounds open up and weep.
Hi, antifungal cream should work on fungal infections, but I only have experience treating foot fungus. See your GP or dermatologist for other body parts.
Hi! Lamisil Once is a good product, but I find it doesn't completely resolve chronic infections with one application. You can usually get 2+ applications from the tube though. I would continue with daily applications of regular Lamisil, or other branded creams for 2-4 weeks (as required). Hope that helps, and thanks for commenting! :)
Hi, always read the instructions as some may vary. Generally though, most treatments should be delayed until after pregnancy, only intervening if absolutely necessary / if benefit outweighs the risk of not intervening. Best to see a local doctor to examine and discuss with you 🙌

Hi Marco, a washing machine isn't usually recommended for shoes but I know people often do this with trainers without problems. Washing in general will reduce the bacteria and fungi concentration though. In terms of percentage, I don't think there's a study for shoes.
@@thelondonpodiatrist please answer me, What can I do with the shoes? Should I throw it or put it outside for the sun? Can the bactery die from the sun light? Thank You
Hi, I wonder if you can clarify a few points for me please? As far as I can see we are told that athletes foot is highly contagious and can be spread by skin to skin contact. I have a paranoia that in both washing my feet and applying anti fungal cream both of which require skin to skin contact will leave some spores even after washing my hands perhaps even in finger nails and thus potentially spreading it to other parts of the body. Unfortunately, i have a fungal nail infection and again my concern is touching the nail and surrounding area will transfer spores to my hand or fingernails. I have seen elsewhere that this is unlikely as one would have to be really picking at the area to transfer any spores . Many thanks for your time and gir msking these videos.
Hi Phil! You can spread it to your hands when applying antifungal cream to your feet, and therefore to other parts of your body. It is not that highly contagious but still contagious. Just wash your hands well after applying the cream. Our skin generally has good antibacterial and antifungal properties but this can be inhibited if the skin is broken or if you break it down from scratching. Fingers and fingernails are way less likely to develop fungal infection as they are drier and see the sunlight. If you have any concerns, see your local podiatrist / dermatologist who can give you more tailored treatment. Hope this helps, and thanks for the question!
@@thelondonpodiatrist Thank you for taking the time to respond. Could I ask a supplementary question. Last year I used quite a lot of micozanole for a bad case of athletes foot and jock itch for about 6 to 7 weeks (applied whilst using non powdered nitrile gloves). I did this on doctor's orders and also wanted to make sure I had zapped everything. I know that 4 weeks is the recommended maximum period and was wondering if the fungus could have built up some resistance to this cream. My local pharmacist thinks it is unlikely because it's been a year since I last used it. Thank you again. I consider people such as yourself the real heroes of the internet which is often used to promote a lot of unpleasant stuff and disinformation
@philbell5774 There is sometimes resistance to antifungal creams. This can be the fungus resisting certain mechanisms of the product or if the person has a weakened immune system. If you're struggling to resolve a fungal infection, try switching the type of active ingredient in the cream. There's a few over the counter creams. Also, bear in mind that although fungus may be the most likely cause, other conditions can mimic fungus, so skin scrapings can be sent to a lab if needed. Thanks again, and wishing you the best!
@@thelondonpodiatrist Thank you once again. I really appreciate it. I was thinking about using terbafine but as I have a diagnosis of sub acute cutaneous lupus which is the form that only affects the skin when exposed to UV light. I did read that terbafine could increase solar sensitivity in individuals but this referred to oral dosage. The only recorded case of solar sensitivity induced by topical application was of a care worker who was regularly using terbafine on her regular elderly patients over many, many months. My own thoughts are that perhaps I should use the topical cream as very little is likely to be absorbed systemically in a relatively short period of time.
I had a toe fungus before athletes foot and now my skin is raw and exposed. What do you recommend? I keep it bandaged most of the time because it’s so raw but I know the moisture is just making it worse. It’s too painful to leave it open and I also don’t want it to potentially spread to other toes…
Hi, apologies, it's too difficult to give personal advice without taking a full history and seeing you in person. Please see your local doctor / podiatrist for tailored advice. Usually topical or oral antifungal products work well. Best of luck with it 🙏

Hi i have a fungus on my hand nail Doctor advice me to use urea cream and cover for every 5 days I want to ask My nail will removed after this ?
Urea cream shouldn't make your nail come off. They could test it to confirm fungus and then maybe try some treatments. Thanks for the message
Thanks for the comment!
do you wash your hands afterwards or no
Hi! Yes, wash your hands after applying. It usually says this on the packaging. Thanks for commenting!
Can the fungus spread to other parts of the body and cause infection too?
@@thelondonpodiatrist I keep treating mine, but each time in raining season, the fungi infection appears again
Is there any terminal cure ?
@Mutalib Abeeb humid season (increased moisture) generally will make it worse, but you must not be getting rid of all of it for it to come back. Some general tips: thoroughly treat the skin, socks, and shoes. Also, make sure your floors and bath/shower bases are cleaned regularly with something that will kill fungus. Try not to go barefoot in public high traffic areas. If you are still struggling see a local Podiatrist. Good luck with it! Thanks for commenting.
Can i wear ashoes after applying the cream?
Yes. Just apply a thin layer of cream and the foot should be dry in under 30 seconds 👍
How do I put socks on with the spray on? Do I have to wait then wipe it off?
Hi! Is it spray for the shoes, or spray to the skin? Usually for the skin you just spray and slide the sock on afterwards - see directions on the product.
Thanks for the video. Question: what is the background music playing between 1:44 and 2:55? Very soothing.
Hi! It's called Resolution, by Wayne Jones. Really nice piece, isn't it?! Thanks for messaging!
South Africa lamisil is cream is discontinued why
I don't know. Try another brand of antifungal cream. Your pharmacy can help.
Toenail cream can I apply it in my fingernail?
You can apply it to your fingers. Antifungal cream doesn't treat fungal nails though, just the skin around 🙌
great information
Glad it was helpful!
Can I apply it on my side of nose
This video is for athletes foot. You'll have to check the label and maybe your doctor. 🙌
Do i have to disinfect and wash my floors, couch and beddings everyday to prevent spread and reinfection?
Hi, that shouldn't be necessary. Antifungal cream, antifungal shoe spray, and clean socks daily. All the other things just be sensible and clean periodically. All the best!
Can this Antifungal Cream work on my Private Area's too? I have experienced Jock Itch. The most common area of my Privates is my balls. It itches a lot, which is annoying. Will this cream stop my ball itch, you think Doctor?
General advice is cream 1-2 times a day for 2 weeks but see your local pharmacist or doctor.

Do I rub it in completely on the affected area..
Hi, yes, apply a thin layer to the affected areas regularly. Typical areas are between the toes and under the feet. Monitor progress. Thanks for the comment 🙌
Hi! Doctor i got nail fungus on my fingernails as well as on my toe nail the stage is mild. how often should i use terbinafine hydrochloride cream on my nails in a day and also please tell me how long will it take to heal it completely? I'm also taking medicines: terbinafine HCL tablets.
Hi, antifungal cream doesn't normally work for nails. It treats the skin. For nails you could try a 5% amorolfine nail lacquer. Watch my other video on treatments for fungal nails for more info. Thanks for commenting, and wishing you the best with your nails!
And what about the terbinafine HCl tablets that I'm taking?
@wajheee sorry, I read that quickly and thought you said cream. 😅 tablets will work on all nails on both feet and hands ✋️ 🦶
@wajheee I think because you commented on the cream video...
Ok and please let me know what about using Lacqueryl nail lotion, does it works?
Hello sir i got Jock Itch 4-5 year ago ...but now only Red and black spot remains in my thighs ..so what can i do please suggest me cream ...To clear this red and black spots
Hi, unfortunately I can not give personal advice without seeing you in person. See your local dermatologist, and they should be able to help. Thanks for the comment, though 🙌
Yes of course.
Are you suppose to cover open wounds with a pad and wrap it with gauze pad?
Hope you're getting on well 🙌
Can this be used on face
I have fungal acne and when I used it, it cleared up
Can I keep using it like once or twice a week?
Hi, antifungal creams are commonly used to treat fungal infections on the face. Although, I do not have any experience with this as I am a foot specialist. See your doctor / dermatologist to be sure. Best of luck with it.
can some antifungal cream make things worse? I bought an antifungal cream called canesten and I couldnt help but notice that it made the rug burn on my genitals flare up. The only way i can describe it is they made the wounds open up and weep.
Hi, antifungal cream should work on fungal infections, but I only have experience treating foot fungus. See your GP or dermatologist for other body parts.
Good video but Lamisil once is a single treatment so what do you do if it doesn’t work or clear the infection?
I tried to get Lamisil tablets and creams and failed in Kampala Uganda
Is the treatment safe for pregnant women?
Hi, always read the instructions as some may vary. Generally though, most treatments should be delayed until after pregnancy, only intervening if absolutely necessary / if benefit outweighs the risk of not intervening. Best to see a local doctor to examine and discuss with you 🙌
I have athletes foot but I apply antifungal cream daily and after I apply it wear sock or shoe it smells so please tell me what to do
Hi! Smell is usually caused by bacteria. Our other video on smelly feet might help... ruclips.net/video/evJGBX5TFVc/видео.htmlsi=NWwIy38w_3QHHdMo
My foot finger some redish dot in my nail?
Hi! It's hard to say without seeing it. It's best to have someone look at it up close in person. Hope all is good in Qatar
I have fungal all over my body starting from the feet to my back and hands. Dr has given me lamisil to apply at night all over my skin. Well i did apply it, but i still feel really itchy all over my body
Hi, unfortunately I cannot give personal advice without seeing you in person. However, it usually takes around a week before you notice signs of improvement. See your Dr / dermatologist again. I'm sure they can help. All the best with it 🙌
Thanks!
You're welcome! 😇
How effective is a washing machine on treating shoes?
Hi Marco, a washing machine isn't usually recommended for shoes but I know people often do this with trainers without problems. Washing in general will reduce the bacteria and fungi concentration though. In terms of percentage, I don't think there's a study for shoes.
I don't have it on my toes nails.
That's a good thing! 🙌
Could athletes foot infection spread to your legs and cause swelling and severe pain with no itching?
Hi, it can spread to your legs, particularly if you scratch it. But, see your local Dr or podiatrist to examine it please. Best wishes 🙌
Would you recommend for us not to wear socks after applying the cream? I would make it a routine to do it daily in the mornings.
Hi! It should be fine to wear socks after applying. Usually easiest to apply thinly and wait a minute. Thanks for the comment 👍
I'll used almost every fungus and it didn't help I am worried about my feet,
Hi, see a podiatrist or dermatologist who can take a look at you as an individual 🙏
How can I treat fungi on my testis?
Antifungal cream normally works. It's not my area of specialty though so, see your Dr. Best of luck with it. 🙌
Thank you
You're welcome. Glad it helped
@@thelondonpodiatrist please answer me, What can I do with the shoes? Should I throw it or put it outside for the sun? Can the bactery die from the sun light? Thank You
Hi, drying them out in the sunshine will help with bacteria and fungus. You can try some antifungal and antibacterial shoe spray products too.

Thank you for taking the time to respond.

Thank you once again.
Best of luck with it 🙏
my toenail turned black n the rest turned blue?
Sounds like trauma to the nail, causing a bruised look. See your local podiatrist for a check up. Thanks for commenting 🙌
thanks king
Thanks, glad it was useful 🙏

Can I wear socks after applying lamisil anti-fungal cream?
Yes of course. Just apply a thin layer and wait 30 seconds before applying your sock. You should be good to go! 😎
I have it on my fingers
I need helping figuring how to fix it
Should be easier to treat on your fingers 🙌
Antifungal cream and sunlight usually will clear it up in a few weeks. If not, see your local dermatologist / doctor. 🙌
@@thelondonpodiatrist it has dried out my thumb. Cracking and peeling. The nail is infected, looks like a bad big toe. I’m sure I’m not using the cream right but it’s very hard with my thumb. Starting to spread to middle finger too now.
I hope you managed to see someone! Let us know what the treatment plan was and what worked 🙌

Itching feet between toes comes and goes
Hi Adam, sounds like athletes foot. Thanks for commenting.
If you have dry skin on your feet soak your feet in a solution of vinegar then just hard wipe your feet

Callous don't feel comfortable
Hi Joyce, can you see your local podiatrist? They can take a good look and probably shave the callus down for you, making it comfortable again. Sometimes, orthotics can also help offload any areas that redevelop callus quickly. Thanks for commenting! :)
