    I’m curious I have a couple questions for you! 1. Can you do a matrix procedure with phenol when there’s an infection in the ingrown toenail or do you have to clear the infection before you do the phenol matrix? 2. On your baby toes is it better just to remove the nail and not use the Phenol do baby toes grow back more naturally than the big toes and the acid is not necessary. What is your thoughts on that? 3. Are there situations where it’s better just to not us phenol? Like what percentage of your patience with ingrown toenails actually need to have the matrix with phenol.? In your practice, what is your protocol with the baby toes when they get ingrown toenails on them that aren’t consistent? Sorry for all the questions. You just explain things so well.

    I have an itchy feeling on the skin around my big toe nail and a little under the big toe nail. My podiatrist said she couldn’t see any evidence of athletes foot and she removed the hard skin around it. She advised canestan cream- what duration should I use it for dr? Pls advise . 4:24 I get this itchiness at night and some relief if feet are out of the duvet .. it’s really weird I think I developed this issue after wearing trainers a lot in the garden during our hot summer weather I tried all Sorts of natural remedies including vinegar Foot soaks but to no effect So praying that this canestan works It’s a most irritating problem

    Question, I had this procedure for 4 1/2 weeks ago the sides of my toe are a little red but have been that way since I had the surgery I have no pain but all of a sudden this morning there was a slight goopy discharge right at the bottom corner of the where the chemical was put in Is this normal? Is it normal to have this kind of discharge 4 weeks out from surgery? I didn’t really have any discharge up until now but around the bottom and the sides have remain red since I had the procedure but again don’t have any pain 🤷‍♀️ Just would like to figure out if this is a true infection or a normal process to healing ? Don’t want to be on anabiotic if it’s not necessary and not a true infection, so would love your thoughts? Chemical that was used was phenol 😉

    • @thelondonpodiatrist
      @thelondonpodiatrist 4 дня назад

      Hi, most people heal well by 4 weeks, but for some, it sometimes takes longer. The fluid could be some weeping from the phenol, or possibly a small infection. Check in with your podiatrist, though, to monitor the healing process. Usually, they won't charge for this. Hope that helps a little. Thanks for the comment 🙌

    Hi. I think I have athletes foot between my 4th and 5th toe. It has flared up and now have very cracked soft skin between the toes. I have bought the anti fungal cream, but how can I help the healing between my toes. The pharmacist said to not apply directly on broken skin, just around. Any advice welcome. Thanks

    • @thelondonpodiatrist
      @thelondonpodiatrist 13 дней назад

      Hi! It sounds like the skin is macerating and splitting. Iodine based antiseptics can help keep wounds clean and prevent infection. Keep the webbing space areas dry as possible - dry between toes throughly, use dry shoes, reduce humidity by increasing air and daylight to your feet - some basic principles to follow, hope it helps. 🙌

And thank you so much for responding. I appreciate it. I was getting a little concerned! @thelondonpodiatrist Месяц назад

      Hi, and great questions. Generally, it's a matter of bathing the toes in warm salty water for a few minutes and changing the dressing (simple dressing) daily for around one week. Usually, the first couple of days, the toe is sore but managed well with painkillers. The bigger bandage is for the first 24-48 hours and can usually fit in sandals or a running shoe. Can return to exercise usually 1-2 weeks later. Thanks for the questions! 🙌
