- Now that I've had a chance to scream about my feelings, I want to dive a bit deeper into the social media posts, the message from Hideki Kamiya, and the teaser trailer! What all do we know about the game? What could the plot be? Could the teaser be hinting at something?

Japanese mythology is HUGE w/ an abundant of stories for existing characters. Even Ammy have some of her own where there's a Dawn goddess she's friendly w/, & she also has a husband too. Would be neat to bring them out, but if not, it would be cool to explore the genre some more 😊
Hideki Kamiya bringing Clover studios back from the dead was the greatest resurrection since Jesus
Remimds me of how LucasArts went out of business and then got resurrected under a new name.
There is so much they can pull from Japanese mythology, I don't think there is a shortage of material for a sequel. I am so excited. Everytime I see the announcement trailer I cry 🥹
We cannot forget Okami's most enigmatic character: Kaguya. It was always clear to me that she was a character created to be the link between Nippon and the celestial plains. Her whole story is made to make us think that there is more than the world we are contemplating, and she herself is the first to set out on this adventure of (re)discovery. She will definitely come back in some form.
I'm so glad my girlfriend introduced Okami to me a year ago, in that short year Okami very quickly became the BEST game I've ever played.
And in terms of what I would like to see from the sequel, I'm hoping to potentially see a return of Ninetails?
I definitely think the sequel will take a lot time in the Celestial plain. Maybe we’ll meet other fellow Shinto gods that Capcom will take the form of animals to keep the theme of “if your a deity, you look like an animal” shtick. Cause I’m really interested to see learn more about Waka’s backstory and his history with Amaterasu cause it feels like they set him up to be a new companion in place of Issun. Maybe we’ll need to bring someone back from the land of the dead cause if you’re into Japanese folklore, Amaterasu’s mother Izanami is like a ruler of the underworld so we can get some family drama there. Perhaps they could introduce like new brush gods or a counter pantheon of like dark brush gods to counter Ammy’s arsenal. Oh yeah I hope we get to hang out with the brush gods and maybe get some character development. Maybe learn some fighting styles that switch up the combat gameplay? I’m just throwing ideas out there, but I’ll be excited whatever Kamiya and Clovers comes up with.
This.
Okami sequel has a serious chance to be the most breathtakingly visually gorgeous game of all time. And also has a chance to sincerely be one of the psychologically enthralling games of all time. Geeked AF.
Okami HD is ALREADY the single greatest 3d Zelda style game, including all the Zelda titles. Only Wind Waker HD & Link Between Worlds come close, IMHO.
I sincerely hope CAPCOM also does a remastered Switch2 Okami HD physical cartridge, which fully takes advantage of Switch2’s DLSS3.1+ upscaling technology, to display the best possible 4k/60FPS visuals when docked. And of course, it comes with all the extras/artwork-galleries/history/etc.
& speaking of CAPCOM & Zelda/Nintendo….
… I’d love to hear about some beautifully hand-drawn remakes, of top down Zelda titles:
1. an OG 1986 Zelda remake (made by Nintendo R&D4, which had some future Capcom employees on the team IIRC)
2. Oracle of Ages or Oracle of Seasons remakes (made by Flagship-Capcom)
3. Minish Cap remake (made by Flagship-Capcom)
So excited for 2025-2026, seems like a gaming-golden-age / renaissance may be upon us.

The only game ever made me, a 46-old cried 😭 It was Issun's speech before the final battle by the way. Awesome game. Thought the sequel would never come to reality.
To celebrate i bought okami on all available platforms that i owned, except ps3 cuz thats digital only
They are about to cook a masterpiece and i will faint the day it releases ❤
(kept vague) As a kid I had felt that what had happened to spark the events shown in the first game and start the story, must have had a deeper problem that is what Ammy was going to go resolve in a sequel. This had felt obvious to me at the time and I greatly anticipated it. Now I'm left with doubt but I'll be playing the game again just so I have a clear mind on it.
Side news; from what we've been hearing on twitter from sources: RIP Platinum.
Kamiya coming back and starting up Clover*S* (lol) is some wild stuff though; he's got to feel like CAPCOM has changed enough for him.
More likely explanation is that Capcom leadership realized that fans really wanted this game, the HD remaster sold really well once it hit multiple platforms, and that there’s no way they could make a sequel worthy of everyone’s time and energy without having the father of the franchise directly involved.
Those people leaving Platinum is only a rumor, though, so we'll wait and hear if it's true or not.
@ I’m pretty sure Platinum is being disbanded and its assets are being folded into Clovers. I get the feeling that Capcom is ready to put weight behind being Capcom.
i think the biggest thing i craved throughout all of my playthrough from a 9yo to being in my mid 20s now was wanting to go and restore the celestial plains with waka, with the newfound awakened powers, being a fully realized god, and with our belief back in the people to keep up strong while we try to bring the plains back to what it once was. the angels spirits holding out so long in the ark of yamato always gave me an impression there could be similar holding out in the celestial plains that we need to go discover the stories and tales of, maybe unlock further weapon enhancements or skills, and so on! however theres SO MUCH mythos it could be many tales on both the plains and back on nippon we get to live through, and this isnt even considering timeskips or time traveling if they wanted to mess with that motif again! im so excited for what they're gonna be planning over the (im guessing) 4-5 years of development! (let them cook)
that dark inky shadowy theory from the treeline bursting out and this theory of that BEING the celestial plains is exactly what my brains been muddling around! it did kinda bring me back to the og trailers when they were aiming for that hyper realism in the game, her classic bursting out and blooming the fields alive motif. but when she bursts out her entire bare white coat is bleeding out in thick streaks behind her, like something is sucking her godhood away and feasting on it mayhaps? and as the sun crests, shes rejuvenated with her mirror and markings and solidified once more. i can only imagine how strong these demons that have feasted upon countless gods and celestials will be up there, vs the ones on the earth like the spider bandit our first boss, or the scythe weasels that would also suck our powers (ink) away. im also wondering if we'll be switching off between characters to fufill different story branches or arcs, the technology we have today makes the possibilities so vast my mind kinda blows up!
i wanna see what 18 years of dedication wishes and yearning for will cumulate into being! and the creators or ico and sotc coming out with its sci fi toned trailer have me EXPLODING AS WELL cause that was another ps2 game i grew up with. theres so much to be excited for now, and i hope you and everyone else who cherishes and loves this game just as much as i will hold out with baited breath and look forward to it all!
My sister LOVED The Legend Of Zelda: Twilight Princess (so did I) and I think she'd love Okami as well.
I remember ages ago I asked Kamiya on Twitter whether he'd consider Okami canon if he ever got to make a sequel, and he responded that he "wouldn't ignore it"... before blocking me as he is known to do lmao.
At the end of Okamiden Chibi and Issun make their way to the Celestial Plain on a moon tribe UFO so.. I guess we'll see if that actually happens.
Last year I drew a little thing with a more skimpily dressed Waka and an Issun with a beard lmao. I think having them aged up a bit could be pretty cool
you should play through it all again and make a video series of it. would watch
The okami game was always set up to have a second half. Literally the ending is the start of the second game?
The celestial plains still need to be taken back from the forces of darkness. There's a whole new land to reclaim from darkness and corruption. The source of all evil was killed and sent back to the celestial plains....
Iv just thought we may even get a look at Ameterasu's human form as "Ammy" is more like an avatar or incarnation.
Shinji Mikami is free so I’m also holding out hope for God Hand 2.
This game has dog 🙌
I played it on PS2 and didn't buy any remastered or HD version. If they remake it with Unreal Engine, I'm definitely buying it. 😊
Good on you, cause unfortunately ever since the Wii port in every single international release the ending credits vocal song "Reset" got replaced with generic instrumental slop. That means that the only instance of that song existing is the "thank you" version when Issun comes in clutch with handing out his Ammy flyers. If anybody else reads this and you want the HD version, either buy PS4 copy from Japan (the game language will be set to your console language but with the original music) or mod the PC version on steam. That piece of music hits so hard after the journey is over, and without it, it's less than a shell of it's former self.
P.S. If they did come out with an actual remake and not just a remaster, I also would totally buy it.
@@tempestnova6715 > good on you
No. Sales numbers are the sole metric that companies use to determine viability. If you don’t support the HD remaster, you don’t get a sequel.
The reason why you’re getting a sequel at all is directly because of everybody that didn’t take your advice.
Unreal no RE engine
@@yeetkunedo That first three words weren't advice. And the later advice was for new people that haven't played Okami at all. At this point further Okami HD sales in the west is a moot point since we're already confirmed for a sequel, so why not tell them how to get the superior version. And half of that advice is still more western sales on steam for those willing to mod. Don't go twisting what I said, it's very disingenuous of you.
