To explain the ending, Bill did manage to kill Discord, but Discord managed to trap him in the Nightmare Realm. So Discord ended up saving Equestria and his friends while screwing Bill over, but at the cost of his own life.
And even then, like the Terminator, he'll be back. As long as Chaos exists, and Bill would sure as hell raise it, he'll be reborn in time. It's no wonder why he's laughing at the end, death might hurt but knowing he pulled the wool over Bill's eyes like that probably took the sting out of it.

Just to clarify the scene since they cut it short, Discord didn't just drink the glass and leave the milk. He drank the glass and threw the chocolate milk over his shoulder, where it EXPLODED ON IMPACT WITH THE GROUND.
And it produced a flash of DARK, not light.

Something I embarrassingly didn't notice on my first watch: The yellow and purple texts in the analysis portion was Bill and Discord talking to the audience and each other.
And yes, there was an ARG. Bill technically exists in our reality. Now THAT is a 4th wall break.
Also when they were talking about Bill’s real name the changing texts were anagrams for creators including myself!
In Canon, Bill possessed the gravity falls creator once, so yes, he is canon to Reality in the show.
Bill won the battle, Discord won the war, but both are not gone forever. Didcord is the embodiment of Chaos and will eventually reform, and Bill will eventually escape the Nightmare realm.
One of the popups clarified that unicorn hair itself isn't an actual weakness of Bill's, it's just an ingredient for a spell designed to protect against Bill and his powers. There are actual unicorns in Gravity Falls that they go to, and I doubt they were spared from Weirdmageddon. It's just the only one we call special attention to because there was an episode all about getting a hair from a unicorn.

The end of the fight had Discord tricking Bill into returning to the Nightmare realm with the rift closing up. Followed by Bills dash to make it out, failing, and then erasing Discord as he laughs his ass off. Bill may have won, but Discord got the last laugh
The song "Discordant Decipher" is a rap battle type song between Discord and Bill. The reversed portiin of it says something along the lines of "You know the song doesnt decide who wins right?"
The next fight is the 3d poll winner, a fight between 2 Superpowered Protagonists from games that came out in 2009.

This ending was so in character for Discord. He is an unpredictable and devious strategist and trickster. Even if he loses, he still wins.
Bill is kinda a scary dorito. Gravity falls really pushed the limits of what you can and can't do to horrify children with Bill.

Well, uh, wish granted sort of. Bill won the Death Battle by killing Discord, but Discord tricked him into being trapped back in the Nightmare Realm, thereby saving the MLP world like he set out to. (You can even see the exact moment he does it. After he uses that finger snap to bring them back from the puppet dimension, if you pay close attention to the background, you can see that the rift portal is suspiciously blue and not red like it was at the beginning.) In short, Bill might have just won the most pyrrhic victory in all of Death Battle.
Also, the song is called "Discordant Decipher" and it's a bop. I highly recommend listening to it, even just on your own. It's basically Bill and Discord doing an Epic Rap Battle in the lyrics.
Gravity Falls is a HIGH recommendation. We unfortunately just missed it in our childhood but DEAR GOD do I have respect for it as an adult show. It’s nothing short of outstanding.

To explain the ending: Bill was able to kill Discord by destroying his spirit, but not before Discord tricked Bill into being trapped back into his home dimension. So, yeah, Bill, despite getting screwed over in the end, is still technically alive.
One more thing. The references at 8:30 & 14:55 are towards Star Trek the Nex Generation as the actor who played Discord in MLP is John de Lancie, who in Stra Trek played an interdimensional reality warping being named Q who causes the main characters tons of problems.
One more thing. "I think there were two Death Battles featuring My Little Pony, or just one." Correction, this marks the fourth MLP-related Death Battle. The other three are...

This is a UNIQUE battle to say the least. Several interesting things though.
1. Discord is not dead. At least, by our definition. While his soul and body are destroyed, he will come back. Being the embodiment of chaos, something that always has and always will exist, comes with that perk. However, considering how long it takes, he effectively "lost" the match.
2. This is by a long-shot the most pyrrhic a victory has gotten on death battle. Bill won the fight but that's about it. Considering he's still trapped by the end of the episode, the info spread about him in the analysis, and the fact he's back in the nightmare realm, it's entirely possible Bill can't come back to our reality, at least in our lifetime. Even his "kill" isn't permanent due to point 1.
3. Cole versus Alex is a db matchup that has been LONG requested for over 10 years. Both are from a pseudo-superhero video game with very different abilities. Cole has some of the most varied electrical abilities in video game history and possibly some fire or ice tools. Alex is essentially what happens when you combine Carnage with The Thing from John Carpenter's movie. Another interesting point is that neither game has had a release in quite some time. The most recent games for either series has been Infamous Second Son which was in 2014. Prototype died with it's (underrated) sequel. I'm personally rooting and betting Alex.
From what I know about the two, I think Cole has more raw power, but Alex is basically an ocean of infinitely regenerating flesh

I want to clarify a few things about Discord's soul. The spell Starlight(the purple unicorn that hit him with the big blast) used on him made it where he couldn't physically set foot on the schoolgrounds. So he sent his spirit instead. It didn't destroy his body. Honestly, I think he could've easily broke/ignored the spell completely. That's how strong Discord is.
True, nothing in the series has said his soul is also immortal, but at the same time nothing has said it isn't immortal. So to me this should've probably ended in a draw. P.S. Yes, he did drink the glass instead of the milk. He then threw the milk, and it exploded.
Discord IS chaos. Simply the presence of chaos is enough to vitalize him. He was in danger of fading away only because he basically purged all the chaos from himself in an attempt to be a good host for Fluttershy.
When he was so far gone he couldn't even touch HIMSELF and couldn't use his magic, all it took was Fluttershy basically making a mess to fix him up.
The elements of harmony are ALL powerful relics and even they couldn't destroy Discord. The only reason he broke free of them is because the ones who petrified him, Luna and Celestia, basically split up, they BROKE the harmony and over time the magic became unstable enough with just a couple kids arguing he got strong enough to break free. This is why Nightmare Moon managed to escape eventually too. When the elements are being used by friends in harmony, the spell is unbreakable. DESPITE THAT, he's still AWARE of his surroundings.
So Discord was CONSCIOUS the entire time he was a statue.
If not even the omnipotent mcguffin of the series can END Discord, nothing can. Not permanently.
So sure, maybe Bill could "kill" him, but Discord has a power Bill doesn't. Discord can FREELY travel through any dimension he wants. He just casually opened a portal to the puppet dimension cause he was a bit jealous.
Bill needs help to escape his dimension. So, all this considered, I'd call this battle a draw. Neither of them can die, and Discord can render Bill unable to keep fighting. I'll grant Bill can do the same to Discord, but not KILL him. So, yeah, final verdict, they're ultimately even.

Bill is the quintessential Chaotic Evil, while Discord is more "Chaotic? Yes." Discord doesn't have the killer instinct that Bill does, especially after reforming. So yeah, they made a good call on this one.
And while Discord can be dangerous when he decides to stop fucking around, that’s not normally the case.
For clarification, Dipper is not his real name. I don't think his real name is ever said in the show. He got the nickname "Dipper" as he has a birthmark that looks like the constellation.

The voice actor for Discord is John de Lancie, who played the character Q in the Star Trek franchise starting from Star Trek the Next Generation and subsequently showed up in several more series afterwards. This is what they mean when they talk about "My Captain" sort of way, as he tended to annoy the captains of the ships in each series starting with Jean-Luc Picard. Both Discord and Q share a chaotic energy as well as a chaotic personality. 😂

you can see Discord's note he wrote at the start of the fight, on the ground. Discord knew he might lose... so his actual plan was boot Bill out of their reality at the very least.

Bill may have won the battle, but Discord lost as a hero, sending Bill back to where he came from, the gate closing behind them both.
The song for this battle was called Discordant Decipher. Id love to see a series of you reacting to DB tracks themselves, maybe try and guess which episodes they were from as a game or something.
Outside of that, this battle was a masterpiece. I loved every second of it, and the community is heralding it as a top 5 episode of the entire show.

I've gotta say, this was probably their best battle in a while. I'd probably agree that Discord loses it by being too carefree, but the fact that he tricks Bill back into the Nightmare Realm and seals him in is good enough for me.
Mlp is full of earth ponies (regular ponies), unicorns (ponies with magical horns), Pegasus (ponies with wings), and alicorns (mix of all three and are royalty)
Some of the easter eggs in this battle point towards future match-ups. All that I've found so far: You can see Sans and what looks like The Judge's head in one shot, so Sans vs Judge is probably confirmed, which isn't surprising considering how much people seem to want that match-up. You also see pony versions of Rick Sanchez and The Doctor fighting in the background of one scene, so that's another super popular match-up that's seemingly confirmed. When the animation style switches to Rubberhose, you see Bendy and Cuphead in the background, which could either be pointing to the prior DBX or signaling this will become a full battle. You see a witch hat with a sword through it, which definitely points to Luz vs Anne, especially since they've already done a Death Battle Cast on it. You see Columbo both as a pony in the battle and in the reflection of Bill's eye in his jumpscare at the end of the recap, so we're definitely getting a Columbo battle, most likely Columbo vs Light Yagami considering how much Death Battle Staff Member Liam Swan has vocally been in favor of that one.

To answer your question about who those two for the next DB are: They are the main "protagonist" of the PS3/XBOX 360 era games; InFamous and Prototype.
2 original super hero games that came out during the 7th generation of consoles. InFamous being about Cole MacGrath who gets powers over electricity (like static shock), and Prototype being about "Alex Mercer" who had shapeshifting powers and the ability to "consume" other people to gain their likeness and memories.
Both games came out around the same time (InFamous for the PS3, and Prototype for the 360) and have since been compared to each other.
If you don't know why he lost to Sans, there was a Tumblr Sexiest Man Tournament and Sans won.
Reigen Arataka from Mob Psycho 100 and Ingo from Pokémon were some other high ranking sexymen as well
6:44 "What is this show?" One of the greatest cartoons of all time. It's kinda like early Supernatural (before demons/angels) but in cartoon form, with the main villain being a nightmare demon of pure chaos. It's targeted to a younger audience, but I didn't see it until well into my adulthood and I love it. It only has 2 seasons, and ended on a really high note. I'm sure the executives wanted it to keep going because of how popular it was, but the show runners told the entire story they wanted to.
Discord lost the battle but won the war. Discord tricked Bill sending him back into the Nightmare Realm where he would be trapped once again saving Equestria from Weirdmagedon at the cost of his life.

The battle where both characters won. Bill did indeed kill Discord and won the fight, but Discord sacrificed himself to save the MLP world/universe by trapping Bill back in his own home. You can actually tell when Discord does it after the hand puppet finger snap here at 14:53 because compared to how the landscape looked at the start of the fight, it looks different in the 2nd half. Tieing into Bill having tunnel vision of trying to kill Discord that he doesn't realize he's in an illusion
It's safe to say that they went all out on this fight, which makes sense since that's what the community voted for. Now, we have to wait and see if they can pull off another incredible fight next time with the 3D poll winner Cole Macgrath vs. Alex Mercer (Still a little salty that Kratos vs. Asura didn't win but oh well). Also, same boat where I knew nothing about these shows except hearing that Gravity Falls is a banger show, so maybe one day

We can simply say that both had the same probability of winning, but they chose the most epic way they could think of, it's best not to compare them because they are from different series.
"Was there an ARG for it?" Yes actually! It was an international scavenger hunt spreading clues across the globe... that took the Gravity Falls fandom exactly 13 days to complete, lol. It was then removed by authorities due to a property dispute, but is now held at a roadside attraction in California for anyone to see. The community was really dedicated to the mysteries in the show and out of it.
It seems that you have a running history with being confused about Death Battle endings. It’s just a little funny to me.

There are so many references and Easter eggs it'd be impossible to list them all, so I'll only list a few.
Despite losing the poll to Bill Vs Discord in the poll, Fall Guys Vs Among Us was referenced twice, in the end of that claymation shot (which is a reference to Macho Man Vs Kool Aid Man btw, down to them both in the background of the shot) Bill turns into the Imposter, and in the first shot of them as puppets, there are Fall Guys and Among Us plushies on the far right just staring at Bill and Discord, the Bill Vs Discord fans thought they destroyed Fall Guys Vs Among Us but all they did was postpone it, Fall Guys Vs Among Us is inevitable.
There are references to other matchups as well. If you look closely when Bill is playing drums, you can find Sans from Undertale and The Judge from Off standing next to the crash symbol, and later in the shot you can briefly see The Doctor from Doctor Who fighting Rick Sanchez from Rick And Morty.
There are so many references to members of the community, some show up in the fight and some have their names spelled out in the madness that is Bill's true name, there's too many to bring up so I'll just bring up Biff Weed's car pfp is shown flying around In a couple shots because he's undoubtedly the reason why Tai Lung from Kung Fu Panda shows up in Bill's analysis.
Speaking of the ballot, for this year they're doing things differently, instead of having 2 polls with 6 matchups each, there's gonna be a massive tournament starting from yesterday, 4 matchups have been introduced and RUclips members have a week to vote, the winner of that will move on to the semi finals, this process will repeat an additional 7 times (meaning 32 matchups are in this tournament) then on week 9, the winners from weeks 1-4 will compete to be in the finals, and the winners from weeks 5-8 will compete in week 10, and in week 11 the winners of weeks 9 and 10 will compete in the finals, 32 matchups enter, only 1 shall win. Who's gonna win? I don't know, like I said this only started yesterday so only the first 4 matchups have been revealed so far, but going off of who's winning that poll at the moment, Monokuma Vs Koro Sensei currently has the lead, I highly recommend checking out both of their series by the way, Danganronpa is a great game series and Monokuma is a very entertaining villain, and Assassination Classroom is one of my favourite animes and I'm pretty sure Koro Sensei would become one of your favourite anime characters.

Two immortal chaos gods fought.
Bill won because in the show he goes for the kill when it comes to fellow gods.
To humans he holds back because he thinks we're a joke.
Discord just got so lazy that he doesn't see ANYTHING as a threat.
They fight and discord annoys bill so much he distracts bill enough lurking and trapping him in the nightmare realm basically bills prison.
Bill destroys his soul but gets trapped again.
Bill Cipher can break the fourth wall. He wrote at least one episode of Gravity Falls and possessed the showrunner to answer questions on Twitter.
Discord wrote the letter seen on the ground by the ponys at the beginning of the battle. And after he snapped his fingers all the living creatures disappeared and the colors of the portal changed to the colors of Equestria, that was when he pulled Bill and himself to the Nightmare Realm. He knew from the start it was hopeless and that all he could do was trap Bill and save his friends and he wrote the letter to say goodbye (and to piss off Bill, who *did* indeed learn a lesson about friendship).
On Bill’s background page, where it lists his real name as a glitch of jumbled letters, it actually says the names of prominent members in the Death Battle community. And even cooler, Duck is listed as one of them! (It’s hard to find, but I found him at 1:43 in the original video)

We've said it before, but Gravity Falls is like Supernatural for a younger audience, made by the Disney channel. You might like it but it's pretty scary!
In a way of looking at things they did both win, Bill won the Death Battle by destroying Discord (at least for the moment) and Discord won in a sense that he did what he set out to do, which is to save his friends, and upstage his rival, which he did by sealing him away and essentially getting the last laugh in spite of his defeat
Tons of people have done gravity Falls reactions so as long as you put some sort of filter or something over the footage of the show, you should be absolutely fine

This really was a Chaotic Death Battle and I Love It, in the End There’s not a Winner or Loser, yes Bill was too OP and did the Final Blow but Discord separated him from the Pony Realm Forever, a Heroic Sacrifice if you ask Me, at least the Fight was Fun and Hilarious with Chaotic Weirdest and a Amazing Song.
By traditional Death Battle means: Bill Cipher won.
By plot: Discord won, he booted Bill out of his dimension and no one is freeing Bill anytime soon.
Not really sure how you were confused at the ending, but Bill completely destroyed Discords spirit. All Discord did was get Bill back in his own dimension so he couldn't kill the ponys. So Discord saved his friend, but still was killed.
You’ll find that duck gets confused about the endings a lot in Death Battle.

Bill's victory was pyrrhic: he may have killed Discord, but Discord took everything from him
Disney shows are really story oriented. This show being the most popular over a decade after it ended. Other story heavy Disney shows include Amphibia and The Owl House where no joke the main characters become the next candidate for god and a demon witch queen respectively.
Similar to Raven VS Twilight Sparkle, the research for this episode is horrendous. Discord FTW! 🐉
This is one of those DBs where everyone seems satisfied with the outcome. It's certainly one of my favorites.
The narrative of this death battle was Bill Cipher ws attempting to take over the world of MLP.
Discord was able to trick him to going back into his own world, saving his pony friends.
So Bill won the death battle, but Discord saved his world before losing.

* Why is his name Bill Cipher? His assumed alias is a good ol' boy riff on "Lou Cipher", a common "yes, obviously I'm Lucifer but we're being coy". (Luci Fair is a more recent alternative.)
* "Mon capitan": Discord shares a voice actor with Q from Star Trek, and both characters are fourth-wall aware enough to realize this and make jokes about it.

o yeah cool thing. there was a BILL statue hidden in the real world. a real world treasure hunt was started. with the statue holding a secret message from the maker.
took awhile but people eventually found it. and the guy even shook the statues hand. oh no.
edit: the tape said something like hey dipper mabel foos and uncle here. and it ended with : shake my hand old pal will ya? but it sounded VERY bill cipher.

the ending is best explained as "bill won the poll" but only by a few votes, so they could take liberties with discord trapping bill.
it was a case of "bill won the battle" "but discord won the war"
by choosing to fight discord bill became so blinded by his fight he didn't see discord was setting things up from the start to trap bill again.
did bill win the death battle yes, but discord got the last laugh and made bill look like a punchline to a bad joke.
this fight is in my top 10 at number 2 for how well it plays off of both characters.

So to explain that ending, during their fight Discord was able to get him and Bill back to Bill's home/prison dimension taking advantage of Bill's "tunnel vision" as DB called it. It was only until it was too late that Bill realized what happened and couldn't return to the "my little pony universe" that he was conquering in the beginning, and I rage Bill just crushed Discord's soul. In the end Bill May have won the Battle, but Discord won the "war" by saving his home and friends from Bill trapping him back from wense he came
So yeah the ending of the fight is basically that discord sent bill to his home dimension to protect his friends but bill still killed him

By all accounts even though it's a 'win' for Bill, it's more like a loss really. The stipulation of someone needing to die actually makes things rather interesting, as like they say, without the 'death' clause, Discord could just leave Bill in another dimension with no way to escape, effectively winning by incapacitation.
On the flip side, Bill killing Discord is also technically only a win by incapacitation. As Discord will just reform later, of course since he doesn't reform instantly, in terms of a fight this would be considered the win condition.
It's an instance where the only reason Bill 'wins' is due to the stipulation of there needing to be a death in the fight, as character wise, if Bill knew Discord would reform, then this is just a complete loss for him.
You absolutely watch Gravity Falls it is one of the best shows I have ever watched. I think you'ed love it.
You know its funny. Ben Singer has been quoted on many occasions that the best episodes that illustrate what Death Battle is all about, is the My Little Pony ones. Because what better way to advertise your show by taking a traditionally harmless and child friendly concept, look at all the gratuitous violence within it and put said characters in a fight to the death? I agree with him. Because when you think "Death Battle", your mind doesn't automatically go to My Little Pony. Yet it works cause its exactly what the show's about.

This battle marks the first time that the loser of the fight got to have the last laugh. Discord may have died but his ability to remove mathematical dimensions allowed him to revert Bill to the 2nd dimension (his home) trapping him there and saving his world from Bill’s wrath.
Ah, they think Bill died at the end of Gravity Falls. He invoked the power of another ancient being and survived the mind erase. Now thanks to the ARG that was run after the final episode, he's in our world. Have fun sleeping at night. /(|)\

The hilarious thing is, Bill is going to be even more raging when he realises he hasn't really beaten Discord and that he loses either way.
He needs another being's help to escape his Home Dimension, but Discord does not suffer such a disadvantage.

And to explain the ending,
DIscord warped them both to the Nightmare Realm (from that third Weirdness Bubble, the puppet show one) and disguised it with an illusion, taking advantage of Bill's tunnel vision on killing him to not realize that he wasn't in Equestria anymore. This nullified the effects of the Weirdmageddon and put Bill back to square one, even if he did manage to win the Death Battle itself.
...Although this isn't really THE end for Discord, as he'll eventually remanifest in time - faster if Fluttershy knows to stir up a bit of chaos herself.
In short, Bill Cipher suffers the BIGGEST pyrrhic victory in Death Battle history - one that likely won't ever be topped.
