Very good platform. But I have a question. Would you mind sharing the source of your parts please. I am particularly interested in the source of the wheels. I have a project that I believe will need big wheels, but I just cannot find any Thanks you very much....
A really useful platform, even more valid in 2024 than it was in 2016... there is a growing market today. Most offerings are four wheel only, with much less capability than this. The main 'negative' of this design is that it is 'skid-steer' which is not ideal if you wanted to use it indoors as well as rough terrain... for instance, using it as a security patrol inside an office block, factory and grounds.
Siddharth Shivalkar where can i get those big tyres? can you help me with that please.... ' that tires should be easily find at the local hobby store... duratrax or HPI or proline or traxxas
hey... thank you for the reply. unfortunately in India there is no concept like LHS :-) and other brands are also seldom available.... looks like a big hunt will have to be initiated.
Hello, it's my question, too: where can we get those big tyres? It would be very helpful, to know about the source for this tires. Thank you. ' that tires should be easily find at the local hobby store... duratrax or HPI or proline or traxxas
Mine is about 50% finished. The body looks to be hand fabricated and very difficult to reproduce, my version will be a little different. Drew everything up in Bobcad and ran the parts on my Tormach. ServoCity has all the bearings, shafts and XL timing pulleys/belts to make it work. Maxon wants 500 a piece for the motors/planetary gearboxes. Am thinking I may splurge and get them to complete the look of the one in the video. Best of luck with yours!
I actually emailed Agris and got to chat with him a bit. Super nice guy. He shared some pictures of a bigger 8 wheel robot they were building. I wish they would bring the plans for this to market. I think a lot of builders would be interested in buying a set. I finally finished mine. I bought the same Maxon motors only I chose the 70w versions with 26:1 ratio planetary gearboxes. Maxon got me for just over $3000 US for 4 motors and 4 36/3 Escon drives so these are not cheap to build. My biggest hurdle was how to get the motor power transmitted down to the wheels. I ended up using XL timing pulleys and supported the belts on bearings everywhere needed. It took 3 versions to get it right. I never attained the mobility shown with the version in the video, mine was heavier I think. They did an amazing job on theirs.
Could you also advise on the following:i) Can the robot be equipped with light and CCTV so that I could control it in underground environment? Can I view the underground situation on ground surface?ii) How long (both time and distance) could it run for a single charge of batteryiii) What is the longest distance for remote control
Games bikaner Singh Ale where are you guys located? i invented a smartboard using similar parts. i am looking to further develop my board. would you mind looking at my video and telling me what you think?
Awesome! You have placed 4 motors which is shared into 2 wheels each according to terrain demand! Brilliant!
just wondering how do you deal with dust and water on those connectors (and potential damage etc.) as they are exposed to the environement?

Nice design! Any chance you CAD drawings on the aluminum pieces? I'd like to try and build something like this for myself. Thanks!
I am in the process of doing some of my own. :)
