That story about your grandpa was really cool to hear about. :) I'm sure he's quite proud of what you and Duff have accomplished too. Now you have your second Grandfather with Mojo!
Loved your story about your grandfather. My Dad( would have been 104) this year. He was the same kind of guy. Taught me everything I know that is worth a damn. I am a graduate EE. The best advice I ever got was his admonition “ you are an educated man; but never disrespect a man who works with his hands.!”He was a WW2 vet ( 2 bronze stars) 291st Combat Engineers. His group built the longest tactical bridge ever built under fire. Over a mike long across the Rhine River.
I think that bridge was the replacement for the Remagen bridge after it collapsed into the Rhine. If it is the one i'm thinking of, my dad crossed your granddad's bridge while commanding an armored platoon in the 20th armored division. Go figure!
It was a pontoon based tactical bridge designed to support heavy armor and troop transport. My Dad’s MOS was” bridge carpenter” he was a T-5. It was a specialist rank that no longer exists. We must thank them all for their selfless service!
If anyone is interested in the “ full story” of this remarkable engineering feat. Building a bridge to support the transport of “ heavy armor” in days ,not months, under heavy enemy fire. I highly recommend the book”First Across the Rhine”. It recounts the amazing abilities of our “citizen soldiers” and what their collective excellence was able to accomplish in the fight to preserve our freedom. It truly was “ the greatest generation.”

My life has been pretty shitty lately not gonna lie. But your videos always make my day better. Especially when it’s a squarebody. Not to mention a k-30 big block.
Man that's one awesome looking truck, it's got all the goodies and all the bells and whistles including a rod knock 😭 Even with the bad motor 1500 bucks is an awesome price, if you were the next town over I'd be at your door right now. I've seen people sneak bearings out from underneath without removing the engine. Maybe an option. But anyway I really enjoy your videos and keep up the good work 👍✌️🇺🇲
The corrosion deal does happen to alloy wheels, was fitting a set of tyres to a Jaguar a while ago.. inside of the rim was a complete mess, all blistered and powdery. By the time I'd finished, I had about a half pound of hoover-schneef on the floor 🤣
Great episode, Mortske. A bit of everything. Some nostalgia, some old stories, some 'will it run', some wrenching and diagnostics, some Puddinfied action, a dig at DDSS, some philosophising and a lovely long drive to the back beat of a 454 GM big block rumble. Can't beat that. That' a truck I'd be right into if I was over there, mate. Not a big 4WD fan as I've never needed it, but I guess where you are, it's almost a necessity. Well, where you are and in the most affluent area of the city I live in, anyway. Why is it that people who live in posh areas like to drive a huge 4WD vehicle, wash it every week, polish it once a month and the most dirt it ever sees is when it's parked next to a grass berm? Weird..... Anyway, my condolences on the rod knock. She's definitely a slap-happy piston noise rather than a bearing, I reckon. Too much tinny sound in the knock it makes, so probably in the gudgeon pin (which you blokes call a 'wrist pin') or the piston slapping the bore. Seemed to be louder on the passenger's side. Low oil pressure shouldn't change whether it appears or not though, so maybe it IS a big end. Damn shame, because the sound of that engine was lovely. I'm also not a huge BB fan because there's nothing you can do with a BB that you can't do with a SB....although the BB sound always hits me in the chest and very few small blocks can do that without the right exhaust, but none can do it right through the rev range like a big block can. Love the two-tone and Silverado trim level. Yeah, as you get older, you DO prefer the more comfortable things in life. Cup holders, a working air conditioner and heater, good wiper blades and a full washer bottle, decent headlights, good brakes and a suspension that does not break your back or slop you from one side of the vehicle to the other when you drive it. And a 10mph waver on the speedo? Mate - when the Stag and the 2500 start off on a hot day, they wing the needle from 0-30mph and if I am crawling along in traffic when the car has been running for a bit, they will sweep the speedo from 0-140mph until they get over 20mph, then they waver 20mph until they get to around the 40mph mark. The joys of getting old - everything that should be stiff or steady isn't and everything that should move easily, doesn't. Sad but true..... All the best for Christmas, buddy. Hope its a bloody good one for ya!
I enjoy the realism of the channel. The cleaned off tool cart when you started taking the tires off, 30 minutes in… half the toolbox is on the cart. There isn’t a shop in the world that’s not the case. 😎
Hey Mortske check the flywheel /flex plate for cracked bolt holes(loose ?),sounds like possibly could be the noise ??? Merry Christmas to you and the family and Duff
Always awesome to see you resuscitate old American iron. Also, way to score on that tarp strap. Last month i picked up a new DeWalt 6 compartment organizer. Other than a little road rash it was perfect. Kind of felt like winning the lottery!

The story about your grandpa was top notch! I too will pickup/pull over for a tool or other things of interest. Nice to know where you got your experience! Oh, don't run over a rubber strap! They can hook in your tire! Yep, been there done that!

Mortske check the caps on the axle joints, some have the zirk in the caps instead of the cross. Also an old farmer trick for leaking wheel seals is to replace the seal and pack the bearings with grease and run the diff an inch low on oil. I’ve ran into that many times working in a shop. Usually only on the farm truck we did bakes on. If you use 1/2” plastic air brake tubing it’s a bit more flexible, or pex tubing works also. Hook the vacuum ball back up and the heat should work again.
I got one from AZ 20 years ago,it was spotless! now it's my driveway plowtruck with a ratchet strap holding the box sides upright and a 5gallon paint thinner can bungeed to the passenger door for a gas tank.Still looks mean with a visor and a 2inch lift.'84 K30 single Silverado,350 with a granny 4spd
Great story on your Grandfather. You know another reason folks used to pick stuff up off of the roads? To prevent others from getting flat tires. Dual purpose, kinda. When I find rubber master cylinder cover gaskets deformed that way (swollen and rubbery) it is usually because someone put the completely wrong fluid in the reservoir, like power steering fluid. Cool truck, Mortske! I would have probably kept that one! Take care, man. Keep rockin'!
I loved this one. I had a 1985 CUCV that I bought from the Army auction in Korea when I got out of the Army. That thing was a beast for what it was. Dana 60 front Corporate 14 in the rear. Only drawback was the 6.2. No top end but would pull like crazy down low. Really needed a turbo. When I bought it the truck only had 52k miles. I paid $375 for it. Oh the old days! I miss that truck. Blackout lights and a push bar. Sweet ride when I loaded it full of wood. Otherwise it rode like a chuck wagon. Great video.
Morstske saved my life and my Marriage ! I used to live like Elvis and i suffered from E D and pimply skin I would take hand fulls of pills to fall asleep or drink to excess but now I watch Morstske`s u tube videos with his calming voice and I fall peacefully and gently to a restful slumber and wake up refreshed and ready for the world. Tom, if you get a chance to read this comment, the most wonderful part of this video was when you referenced your late grandfather. I have always believed that if a person's name is mentioned, they are really never gone. Keep the memories alive brother. Great vid as well. I do enjoy them all. Merry Christmas to you and Duff.....oh....and that old man that keeps making noises.

I used those lug or what ever their called used them in the army, came like a socket Kit with different sizes, sure the cost would be more than what you and Mojoe came up with, what ever works works, Neat...
Hey Dec 13th is my birthday also. Talking about yours gramps, sounded like a pretty cool person. I do the same thing stopping for treasures along the roads. Best that i can recall, 100+ piece tool kit (missing couple items 😂) hand pump grease gun, Cat converter or 2, over width banner (or 2 😂😂), wheels, gas can, bungees, load binder etc etc etc Last week i picked up a 5 lb fire 🔥 extinguisher on the 2nd day as it was still there 😂 Still charged 👌🏼 Also another way to tell a Dana 60 is that the pass side has 1 U-bolt and 2 on the drivers side.
I had an uncle who worked for the city of Centerville. I don’t remember seeing that pickup around but I wasn’t around there much after 1995. And my uncle is no longer with us so can’t ask him. Unfortunately I became a blue plater. Not proud of it. I use those balancing beads in some older trucks and they work well. They can cause problems if you have pressure sensors so I balance them with weights. Sorry your square body didn’t work out. I have a 1987 3/4 ton I’m restoring. Same truck but built 350 and no rust and it’s black. Better luck next time on the square body. I have been working on mine for 15 years and it’s close to done. To many projects and lost interest many times over. Mojo did a fine job on that socket! Nice burn out! Fun to see!
Man, that's a really neat one! I hope someone will buy it and fix it up. When I was younger I didn't care much about cars, but now in my 40s I've somehow fallen in love with American squarebodies. There's just something so beautiful and nostalgic with old pickups. I guess it's thanks to all those gen 1 Transformers, The A-Team, and those other shows I watched growing up.

Forty years ago this past summer I was on a custom harvest crew with my cousins. We were headed north of Hays, KS pulling a fairly steep hill that was over a mile long. I was driving a 1975 Chevy 454 1 ton 2wd dually service pickup pulling a double header trailer. It had dual exhaust and glass packs and would really bark. As I pulled the hill, I put the transmission in third gear and just stood on the gas. The Q-jet secondaries were wide open and the limestone walls of the roadway were echoing. I think I used 1/8 of a tank of gas on that hill. Big block stuff!!
So I'm starting to build up my M12 Milwaukee tools for now, but I've got a TON of Ridgid 18v stuff.. well I needed a cordless heat gun for some job I was doing and I got the Ridgid 18v butane heat gun. I'll be honest, I am insanely impressed as to how well that thing works.. It's a little bulky and a pain in the ass to have to refill it with butane every so often, but man it is SUPER convenient to not have to plug it in every time I want to use it. I will, one day, move from my carpenter tools (Ridgid 18v) to Milwaukee mechanic's tools sooner or later.. I went M12 for the little ratchets, they are so sleek, the Ridgid ones look like the Makita ratchets, they have a giant 18v battery at the end of the handle and just do NOT look like they'll fit into a tight area, and for basically the same price I can get the M12 ones.. I really want the extended reach 3/8" - it's on my Christmas list but I don't think anyone got it for me.. oh well, maybe I'll get a gift card and can get one! Merry Christmas Sir Mortikus.
What an epic Video! Loved the story about your Grandpa. That so sucks about about the bearing. Sucha nice truck and yiu did a wicked job of picking tires !
I've been so backed up catching up on wathcing videos finally I glad I got to watch yours. In all the years working at my dad's gas station in NJ we rarely ever had to balance tires with the beads in any 3/4 ton trucks we had come in. we always used regular old School tire weights, your story about your grandfather reminded me of the stuff that would appear on the street in front of the shop or on the side street and side walk or next to the dumpster , some being power tools and wheel barrows, extra wheel, tools mud flaps off of power company trucks etc. if you keep the one ton square body LS swap is my vote. thanks always for the great programming.
Great video ! I enjoy the longer ones and look forwards to them to kick start my week off. Nice looking truck, and seems it's sold already which isn't a surprise. You've made improvements to it ready for the next person, and hide nothing about the issues to be fixed. Will you have made a profit on it ? Probably, but it's your time and resources that have to be covered. Appreciate the time and effort that goes into all of this for us viewers.

My life has been pretty shitty lately not gonna lie. But your videos always make my day better. Especially when it’s a squarebody. Not to mention a k-30 big block.
Glad to help!
Hang in there big guy. Things will get better. Shine like the sun and everything around you will grow. And hey... at least you're not a F*rd guy!
@@darylpendley very true 😂 i hope you had an excellent Christmas!
I want to say that I watch the video from start to finish and if I have to stop and come back to finish it I do everytime.
But anyway I really enjoy your videos and keep up the good work 👍✌️🇺🇲
Another interesting video. Good story about your grandpa. I still have good memories of mine. I'm 87. 👍👍
The corrosion deal does happen to alloy wheels, was fitting a set of tyres to a Jaguar a while ago.. inside of the rim was a complete mess, all blistered and powdery. By the time I'd finished, I had about a half pound of hoover-schneef on the floor 🤣
yuck
Same to you sir!
I have to admit the truck is in remarkably good shape, and love the length of the clips.
Thanks 👍
Merry Christmas Mort, Duff, Mojo and all you fellow gear heads and tinkerers.
Love the 2+ hour videos! Keep ‘em coming!
will do
I enjoy the realism of the channel. The cleaned off tool cart when you started taking the tires off, 30 minutes in… half the toolbox is on the cart. There isn’t a shop in the world that’s not the case. 😎
Dang right!
Hey Mortske check the flywheel /flex plate for cracked bolt holes(loose ?),sounds like possibly could be the noise ??? Merry Christmas to you and the family and Duff
That's my dream squarebody, an 84 k30. I especially like how you put the pizza cutter tires on. I've always hated wide tires on anything.
Always awesome to see you resuscitate old American iron. Also, way to score on that tarp strap. Last month i picked up a new DeWalt 6 compartment organizer. Other than a little road rash it was perfect. Kind of felt like winning the lottery!
Score!
Sorry for your loss Mortski your grandpa sounds like an awesome guy. We will all hook up one day.
Don’t listen to the “Your videos are too long” haters. I’m waiting for the three hour plus mini series debut 😂😂😂 Merry Christmas to you, Duff, Mojo and Chin 🎄🎄🎄🎄
You are correct about the C.R. Lawrence sticker. CRL makes a ton of glass and glass related stuff. Good company!
Looks like a nail polish bottle 😂.. once again as always, great video mortske❤
Thoroughly enjoy all your videos, you deserve millions of views, seriously!
Thank you
My grandpa taught me by the age of ten to smoke cigs, cuss, chew tobacco, drink coors, view the stars at night lying down on a wire cot he forgot to teach me mechanics dad taught me grandpa i guess he figured it was easier to teach me how to become a heathen let my dad do the hard part It’s the little things😂
The story about your grandpa was top notch!
I too will pickup/pull over for a tool or other things of interest. Nice to know where you got your experience!
Oh, don't run over a rubber strap! They can hook in your tire! Yep, been there done that!
please return the 2000$ worth of parts you stole from DD SPEEDSHOP or just send him the money !!! YOU THIEFF MORTSKE
that was his rent
hope karma wil hit you rigth back@@MortskeRepair
Remembering gran paw is great, nice that he was impressive enough to leave good memories, my gran paw has been gone for 55 years and i still miss him on ocassions
Another great video Mortske! That old truck wasn’t too bad and of course the Duff dog was a good pup
You guys are great! Nailed it again on the content!! Always a pleasure!
Happy birthday to your grandad!! Sounds exactly like mine! RIP They were the greatest generation!!
Glad to see you guys are all busy
Mojo's face at the end😂
Damn Mortske..
That Big Block purred.. for a little while..
Thanks for the Great content
Oh hell ya 2 hr mortske duff and friends! Get me some wisco old fashioned. Sit back and enjoy. Ur humor wit and cut scenes are awsome. Love all ur content! Thank merry Xmas to u duff and mojo. Looking forward to 24 and more ur videos. Thanks again
Ahh that could be
I loved this one.
I lost 200 pounds my skin is clear and my wife is happy too. Thank you! Morstske.
Lol! Mojo says "Lifter" 😆 So Funny...... When you popped off the Puddin music while pressure washing I spit my Jameson & soda all over my monitor 😊Love to you and Duff, Merry Christmas from the old wolf here in rainy Commiefornia 🐺😉
Thanks Herr Mortske! Another automotive joy!
Have a lovely Christmas and see you in 2024, thanks for the content it made 2023 bearable.
Thanks, you too!
Mojo is the King 👑 of The Garage. Spin-a-rooney.
Glad to see you, I was starting to get worried.
Real decent Squarebody. Great start for someone looking for a project.
This was a great one. Lots of funny content and great mechaniching! 😊 I'm a gal and I love watching with my husband. We talk about it while we watch. And Duff..... He adds a lot to your vlogs. Keep going and we'll keep watching. 😉
Awesome! Thank you!
Best that i can recall, 100+ piece tool kit (missing couple items 😂) hand pump grease gun, Cat converter or 2, over width banner (or 2 😂😂), wheels, gas can, bungees, load binder etc etc etc
Last week i picked up a 5 lb fire 🔥 extinguisher on the 2nd day as it was still there 😂 Still charged 👌🏼
Also another way to tell a Dana 60 is that the pass side has 1 U-bolt and 2 on the drivers side.
Happy Belated Birthday!
@@MortskeRepair Thank you so much.
Keep up the awesome work. Been watching since the og ramp truck 🤣😎😎 Will be watching for years
I had an uncle who worked for the city of Centerville.
Man,!! One of the funniest scenes in American Graffiti 👍👍,nice 61 Ford Galaxie 🤣, my dad owns a 61 Galaxie 2 Door hardtop,390 Hi-Po 👍, best Channel on RUclips because of Duff 😁😁 Awesome content as always 👍
164 thousand subscribers. 6.6 thousand likes. Almost 1200 comments and Mortske still acknowledges 99.99999% of them!! What a truly 'For the Subscriber" kind of content creator!! Good on ya son! Good on ya!!
Absolutely
Loving the long videos. The first one of yours I watched was the ramp truck in the woods 👌🏼
2 hours are great length
Awesome! Thank you!
This guy has the best merch and amazing content and notices his viewers regularly. This is my favorite channel by far. There’s a guy in pot county that’s alright, I guess….. Anyway I got no problem saying Mr Mortske is awesome and you can tell he is by the way that he is.
Thanks for the kind words!
HOW DARE YOU 😂
Mortske Monday on a Tuesday. 😂😂
I was so excited yesterday and the video never came 😢😂. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK MY BUDDY. Doing one a week on different stuff is challenging. You ROCK
another great upload mortske sir! Always amazes me how much you know about various makes and models. Thanks for all your hard work and for the extra long video!
Glad you like them!
Nice truck back in the day. Always liked that body style .
Hi Duff dog 🙃
GOOD TIP on removing old mufflers. I can't think of a better way!
You bet!
454 nice .
Old school quad bog .
Not even 10 mpgs here but smiles per gallon can be fun while screaming across a open felid .
Best one yet.
Stay warm, for sure .
Good times!
I will say I'm not a "lowered" guy, but a lowered 4x4 looks way better than those 14-story building lift kits people put on their trucks
Yup
Great video. That’s a sweet truck . Your long form videos are awesome
Right on
I like the necessary only fixes. It’s a truck after all… Nice work as always… Great tribute to your grandfather 😊
Your video lengths are just fine, really liked the video. Keep up the great content.
Great old trucks, mine was one of my favorite trucks I ever had, love to find another
Merry Christmas snd Happy Holidays to the Mortske crew . Good stuff as always .
Same to you!
My Pop Lisefki would stop for those things as well, Had me one time with a latter in the back of his pickup, climb up and clip a hornets nest out of the tree for décor in his Cabin in the Mountains, cool. He would be 102 today... Memories for a life time, at least my life time, Guys hope you all have a Happy, Cheers too all!...
I find it hilarious RUclips is putting weed commercials on your channel but not beer, dude.
it's based on your search history
Ah yes...Monday evenings with Mortske and Duff...only it's Tuesday evening instead...
I love mojo. He has so much knowledge about so much stuff. Expert at working with his hands
Happy birthday grandpa Mortske!
Great videos for 2023. Merry Christmas Thomas.
Thanks, you too!
It's amazing what you can do with a saw, a welder, a lathe and a Mojo... Happy New Year, fellers... 🇬🇧👍
Thanks, you too!
Mortske, making me feel old with that molded hose comment. Wishing you a happy holiday season. Still watching your videos and still enjoying them very much.
Same to you!
