For a Goan you have really learnt the art of making fugias. My Mom used to knead the atta at night with just a pinch of yeast and by early morning it used to rise. They taste superb with Vindaloo and Sarpatel. I love it with tea.
Thank you so much ❤️! Glad you liked the recipe. I was skeptical initially but then at the same time curious and thought let's give it a try and in my first time itself I got a hang of it. Oh yes even my mom in law used to do the same and wake up at 4 am and she wouldn't use instant yeast. Vindaloo and Sarpatel is a great pairing too 😍
I love fugias. I'm a Goan from Andheri East where a lot of East Indians live. Once in a while, I got to taste fugias and always wanted to eat more. So, to eat what I like, I have to learn how to make them. Thanks for the recipe, guys.
Hii dada and sister my favourite fugias I am also east india from Gorai when I go for wedding I like to make this fugias it's a traditional dish of our east india wedding it's correct way you are massaging the ata lots of love from small sister from Gorai ❤❤❤ compliment of the season and happy christmas ⛄🌲😍❤❤
Thanks alot for your recipe it's feels very easy .I will surely try since my children and grandchildren love them. Since I am a Goan I don't prepare it very often coz I used to follow the overnight recipe.❤.God bless you both
@barulasequeira4612 We are glad you liked the recipe. Would love to hear how they turned out. I think this is perfect for the season and your family would absolutely love it ❤️ BTW I'm also a Goan and my Husband is a Half East Indian and half Mangalorean 😁
Awesome recipe! These fugias taste really yummy with east Indian sorpotel which is made from a bottled dry masala. It was really nice viewing the perfect rapport you both share & thanks for sharing your recipe.
Its good, provided it could go a little more brown. I was brought up living in Kurla East Indian Village and is used to all their wonderful recipes. We usually would eat Fugiyas with non veg. Merry Christmas.
Peace be upon you, friends. May God bless you. Thank you for the wonderful videos. Enjoy with you. You always have something new. May God bless you, God willing🤍🙏🔔👈👍👈💫💫💫🤍🤍🇲🇦👈
Looks good and appetising, can this be had with Vindaloo and Sorpotel? And can the sugar be avoided then it can be had with Goan curries. Looks pretty easy, and well explained, good. Will definitely try, thank you. Post some Goan food recipes. God Bless
Hi there. You can reduce the amount of Sugar but you will need a little bit for activating the yeast. It will not be that sweet and will go well with our Goan curries. Thank you so much will be posting Goan Recipes soon. Lots of love ❤️
You got it! The recipe is right there in the video, just pause at the right moment 😉 Also, we have mentioned the ingredients in Description. Lots of love ❤️
Hello.i like the way you both try to explain. You have good entende between you and good explanations and made good listening to your mother. Unfortunately every thing is sugar and fries which is not healthy.but am hoping to try it once when I have guests God willing
I think I would love to eat it with brunch like a shrimp vindulo or a nice coconut curry.i don't eat meat .but those who eat meat can eat it with pork curry ,sorpotel chicken vindulo
I am going to make this . Thanks for this very nice video. If I want to serve on Christmas Day I should prepare it the night before right? Also how doe we store this - in fridge?
If you are using Instant Yeast like how I did, and using warm water with sugar to activate it, the dough will rise up in 1 hour. (provided you keep it in a warm place) Incase you are making it a day before, storing in the fridge is any air tight container is fine. You would have to re-heat it on a pan or a microwave. The texture of fugias and bread is almost the same. Might not taste as good on the next day.
Absolutely! Can add a little extra sugar, but take care the fugias will turn dark golden brown veery quickly while frying so keep the temperature on low to avoid it from burning.
1 cup warm Water used for yeast and sugar mixture, another 1 cup warm water used for kneading the dough but pour the water in parts so you can notice the thickness of the batter, shouldn't be too runny or too thick. Flowy consistency... 😊
I'm going to give this a try, hoping for the best. I've tried making these once before using another recipe, but it was a gigantic flop😂. Can I use instant yeast instead of what you used. Thanks, and Merry Christmas!
Absolutely! You can use instant yeast, you wouldn't have to wait long enough for the dough to rise.. Also use warm water for the entire process.. 😊 Merry Christmas 🎄😊
Hi Viola, not really as they puff up when added to the hot oil automatically due the presence of yeast. Scoop and drop quickly and you will see the magic. Hope this helps
This is a different kind of kneading, I'm sure wearing gloves would look hygienic, but to do it in an every day household kitchen and in a traditional way, this is the way to go. 😊
People are so obsessed with wearing gloves , they’re cooking , not performing surgery . Our mothers and grandmothers never wore gloves and we are all quite healthy . Just enjoy the traditional ways and stop apeing the west .
The method of shaping Fugias is very interesting! But you can't call it healthy food because only maida and oil that's all. Once in a while it's ok. But not as regular snacks.
No where in the entire recipe it's mentioned 'Healthy' although this is a traditional recipe of Bombay East Indians the natives.. Usually made during weddings and Christmas.. 😊

You should steam them for a few minutes, they come out soft n delicious. @SauteAtSight
In Trinidad we make a sauce with mango to go with it
Wow a lovely combo.. I bet it tastes heavenly 😍
Fugias and pulhories are two separate things. Though they look similar, the texture and taste are different.
What can we replace eggs with
In Trinidad it is made without eggs and sugar. We call it polourie. It is accompanied with a hot mango sauce (Chutney). A Savoury version.
You can use 2 tbsp Ghee and half cup Milk.
curds
@@khaleedmohammed2879 correct but Fugias are different. It's more like our bread, pulhories are a snack. both taste different.
Can we make sweet fugias
Absolutely! Can add a little extra sugar, but take care the fugias will turn dark golden brown veery quickly while frying so keep the temperature on low to avoid it from burning.
Is this similar to Malpua but without the eggs?
No its not sweet
Not at all. Very different.
How hour this kept this for farment
I had used Instant yeast so with my method it took 1 hour for fermentation.
Altogether how much water was uses

Thank you! Glad you liked it.
Wish you had worn gloves to mix the flour. Looks more hygienic
This is a different kind of kneading, I'm sure wearing gloves would look hygienic, but to do it in an every day household kitchen and in a traditional way, this is the way to go. 😊
It will not be possible with using gloves. It is for home use and for yourself to eat.
People are so obsessed with wearing gloves , they’re cooking , not performing surgery . Our mothers and grandmothers never wore gloves and we are all quite healthy . Just enjoy the traditional ways and stop apeing the west .
Stupid suggestion.
Do y'all wear gloves in your family kitchen on a daily basis? Some folks talk utter nonsense.
