    • @GunShocka
      @GunShocka Год назад +1687

      Funnily enough it actually does. As a viewer we know who superman is and his secret identity. But from the context of the characters in universe you have to realize Superman is this incredible force of justice who can do amazing things. However Clark Kent is a need that works at a news office. It's not just the glasses either. Clark has an entirely different personality, he slouches instead of standing straight and tall like Superman, and all those makes him so unremarkable that , while baring a striking resemblance to Superman, leaves you with extreme doubt that it's actually the guy. This kinds hiding in plain sight kinda works when you realize no one is really looking for Superman like some witch hunt so seeing some look like someone isn't enough to confirm its them.

    That last thing is the thing that I think most people misunderstand about longsword fencing. It’s not like modern fencing where it’s sit in a guard, wait for an attack, parry, then attack. Most of the fightmasters show styles where your movement from one guard to another will defend you and can be made into an attack. The guard is more than a convenient way to stand, it’s the end of one move and the beginning of the next

    • @decimation9780
      @decimation9780 Год назад +5

      @@GunShocka You’d get tired, but people who were trained to use claymore swords pretty much used claymore swords exclusively, meaning they got incredibly skilled and comfortable with the blade. They’d likely be able to wield said blade for maybe two to three straight minutes of combat before their arms started to tire, but they’d probably be able to go for fifteen total minutes of combat before they wouldn’t be able to swing their swords around anymore.

    • @GunShocka
      @GunShocka Год назад +4

      @@decimation9780 um ok? That can literally be said about...any physical activity. I trained in with a Bo and Boken before. I'm fully aware that a person who trains their chosen weapon would be proficient at it. But realistically they are most likely not swinging a claymore as fast as this guy here for 15 minutes straight. Their arms would literally fatigue themselves out and get noticeable sloppy or less in speed and power since you arm trying to hold a 5 pound bar when in motion will feel like 10 pounds that you are trying to pull back and manipulate at high speeds as it yanks at your muscles. Even swords smaller than a claymore professionals wouldn't be able to keep up such a strain for extended period of time without short breaks or having aid in combat to pick up the slack since exhaustion isn't just relegated nor accumlated to just swinging the sword. Injury, environment, length of fight, how much footwork you do will all tire you out and effect your performance.

    That sort of spin implemented in the lower guard is a maneuver meant to hide either the switching of hands, or don’t switch hands and quickly swing back on the original side you stanced. Employed by shinobi/nin who would use a short daito and saya in either hand. Obviously less effective with a greatsword, but has some cool potential if you want to smite your foes while looking drippy.

    For Honor is one of those franchises where I really wish was more readily accessible and customizable.
    Locking movesets and weapons behind a character is a common trope by companies to artificially inflate variety, when the best variety is just scattering all the tools and abilities out and making them all readily available for players to theory craft the best combinations.

    What I love about that spin hand change is that you'd only do it that way if your body was easier to reposition than the sword. But it clearly shows he can toss that thing around one handed, so hes kiterally just dling that spin for flare.

    In the clip, if you look carefully, the Highlander never stops looking at his opponent for longer than absolutely necessary. The instant the sword's on the other side, he spins his body around and his gaze immediately locks onto his opponent again.

    My takeaway from your short is that Ubi actually did some amount of research into how these hero’s would actually fight/engage with their chosen weapons. As a Highlander main I enjoyed this and hope you do more on the other heroes in the game.

    This sword was not used to fight men on the ground. It was to unhorse calvary usually by attacking the horse, either is legs or straight thrust to the chest or side.

    Highlander recently got a new execution, where he ends the execution in Plow which made me smile with glee, I've been wanting to see him in a basic greatsword guard for so long.
