This stereotypical portrayal of ENTJ cold and scary boss is the reason I couldn’t believe I was an ENTJ… I’m ENTJ enneagram 8w9, but I am pretty much nothing like you’d read in books. Most descriptions of ENTJs or enneagram 8 are of the unhealthy types. In real life we’re pretty nice and polite to whoever you are (unless you’re crossing boundaries or being disrespectful.)
I think people might believe ENTJs are so elusive and rare because they don’t actually understand what an ENTJ is. It isn’t all about climbing an already constructed social hierarchy, it’s about having unstoppable vision and being assertive enough to always go with it, deeply into the future and stubbornly with charm. It’s about going into the unknown with the knowledge to make it possible. ENTJ are human, people forget humans are complex.
Exactly. I thought I was an ENFJ for the longest time because I couldn’t relate to the stereotypes of being cold and ruthless (I think this is mostly unhealthy ENTJs). When quarantine first started, there was not much for me to do so I started reading more about the cognitive functions and understood I was more of an ENTJ. I’ve recently been rewatching Dance Moms and a good example of a healthy vs unhealthy ENTJ would be Holly vs Abby Lee respectively (just from what I can see on TV, obviously it’s a reality show so who really knows)

@A Ra Not really reading the books, but more by studying and actually understanding the cognitive functions and how they interact with each other. Online quizzes can be a good starting point to see where you might fall, but you should definitely look into the actual descriptions afterwards to see if it fits you well or not.

As an ENTJ, I will go to ANY length to complete a task, and believe me when I say that most of the time you have to be nice to people, even if it means faking it and concealing your anger. The problem is that characters like Miranda only work in fiction, not in reality, and the key to getting anything done while remaining likable is to respect those who work with/for you while also being honest about your own opinion of their work in order to ensure proper performance and eliminating any signs of incompetence. Being sociable is important, and ENTJ learned this lesson early on in their careers. Doesn't matter how good you are at work, if you're being a dick, you won't get as far. There are a lot of moving parts when it comes to success, and you have to perfect every element of it.

no i think what she portrayed in the movie was a ne-te loop which could make enfps look like estjs on how productive they can become. If she was an intj she'd go along with Miranda's proposal at the end, no doubt cuz intjs would know how beneficial of a proposal that is, in the long term as well. Enfps on the other hand, like to collect all sorts of information before coming to an fi conclusion, that's what she does the whole movie - learning how to navigate her work space, taking in all sorts of information & doesn't conclude on a fi judgment until the last minute. Intjs can see how their decision will end up, what that'd lead to & so will likely consider Miranda's proposal to be sound & smart but Andy rejects Miranda's proposal solely because "its not her", to me that sounds more fi>te. (coming from someone who use fi/te as well)

Yup, me as an intuitive always have thought about this - not that we are better than sensors but that we have the potential to be the trailblazers and they have the potential to be the best followers of groundbreaking leaders when they do believe that our ideas can succeed. I somehow find it very precious when sensors believe in my vision and they want to participate. As intuitves, we need that in our lives. And sometimes fellow intuitves can be great for discussing ideas but ultimately it's the sensors who do the job when it's needed. We simply need each other...

I would say realistically that it's not that we always act like this as we have our own traits, it's that we act like this WHEN showing our darker/ less kind side and traits in a situation where we can't afford to cater to people's emotions. Otherwise, we're usually quite nice and definitely like having a laugh.
