Was literally thinking same thing about the advertising. My brother who showed me league that played since season 2 hadn’t heard much or seen much of LoR until I convinced him it was good. He loved it afterwards. They just needed to hype it on the league client.
Blizzard used to be amazing at this cross game promotion, I really don’t understand why riot has never even touched it with a ten foot pole. I‘ve never been that deep into blizzard games but I owned a bunch of stuff in every single one just by purchasing or doing stuff in different games.
@@charmquark7514 blizzards games have different styles/characters so its a bit easy for them to make in game stuff etc to promote but this doesn't mean riot cant do that
Hots player here, I find the discussion about dead games very interesting. People always think because a game is not top 1 of his category it is dead, but as soon as people are still playing it and you don't have to wait 30 minutes to find a game, it isn't.
Blizzard made crossover events with Hots and its other games, and it worked quite well. I agree with the viewer who said Hots didn't expand Warcraft or Diablo lore, but its own, and Blizzard haven't done it so much, focusing on creating universe but not stories.
LoR on the other hand is gold to find lore about runeterra, much more than the mini-novels on the website which are always about champions.
And the main point : it isn't a Moba. Tcg are competitive, but you don't have to compete with the LoL World Championship. Hots was a decent tier 2 moba until executives decided it wasn't worth the money, so they cutted the competition, which is a disaster for a moba. I don't think it would be the same with LoR.

@@Snnuy still a lot of players, you usually find a game in a few minutes (except for the draft unranked mode which is really dead), but of course the general skill is not the same than before. Not really worth tryharding, just fine to have a nice moment with friends
I play HotS with friends and it takes like 30 minutes to find a ranked game that doesnt have players who skip the lobby, quick match usually takes only some minutes along with ARAm, but nowhere near as soon as LoL finds matches
When I talked to my league friends about playing the new expansion they were convinced that the game had died years ago. There's definitely an issue with it getting any kind of advertising

The problem with LoR is that this game is hard for a lot of people, most of my friends cant understand the gameplay.
BUT, they never played card games, although they wanted to try LoR, its just too hard for them :(
Your idea about free skin is very convenient, I played hearthstone for free mount too and got stuck for 4 years.
Just make free Jinx skin and a bunch of people will at least try the game.

While I haven't been a PVP player, I play PoC almost daily and enjoy the voiced interactions.

That's like saying that if Mojang advertised a card game on the Minecraft client, tons of people would play it. Except they did do that, and that didn't happen. It's a completely different genre of game, not a lot of overlap in the types of players who would enjoy each game.

Just been working on a dragon deck since two days and now im seeing u playing dragons, thats so cool. I also started with demacia targon but my deck was a complete mess tbh😂 thats when i shifted to targon freljord and after some tweaks its pretty nice id say, even tho its hard to pilot
Try shadow isles targon, like a control dragon, i'm trying a few combinations rn and i'd say it's pretty good

I think riot could do a lot more colaboration events with the games like blizzard used to do.
Imagine you play x amount of games in lor and get an exclusive skin for league/valorant
Or even if you buy the pass for one game you can get everything in the pass for the other game for free if you want to grind it.
Hey Snnuy, you should really try out Shen bard or Shen Jarvan. It's been the deck I've been using to climb for the past 2 expansions and it's extremely good against agro if you draw the correct cards. Your board can also over scale and easily otk the opp
I have the opposite experience Shen variants gets easily destroyed by aggro, most of the time you only get a chance IF you draw extremely well

You can"t really play it anymore sadly, they decided to completely remove all card draw from the region so you can't really play it solo without feelling rrrreally bad about it :P

Jax ornn is a very good deck but meta dependant, I dont think it does great into fizz samira

About LoR's exclusive skins, unfortunately some of them won't be exclusive for a long time, especially those that are from existing skin lines in other games like Star Guardians and Dracomancer, Wild rift(LoL version for mobile) has many exclusive skins but it was said by some devs that some of the skins were requested a lot to be ported to LoL, like Sera, Orianna and Senna Star Guardians, and this hints that LoR Exclusive Gwen star will also go to another game, it's sad, because I play Wild rift and LoR and I wanted it to continue with our own exclusive content.
why does it matter that a skin is exclusive to one game over another? From a personalisation pov, I bet players would prefer having a particular skin across every platform and it's probably more profitable too.

This coin duplication business is seriously BS. Everyone was dumping on seraphine/bar for playing infinite spells on 1 mana, but somehow it's ok with karma/coins? Just the 5mana draw 2 get 2 coins with karma is LITERALLY 5 mana draw 4 get 7mana (8-1coin cost) back. I almost miss azirelia meta now, at least the game is over on turn 4 if they highrolled.
Riot is really good at starting things then ditching them after the shine wears off. the universe map/page is one, Legends of Runeterra did already loose some of it's developers. lots of stuff in league that they just stopped cause it lost its shine. few other things that i can't remember. a youtuber called TB-Skien pointed all this out in a video of his so i am tryna recall what he listed. why i did map/page cause i couldn't remember if it was all of universe or just the map. tft is the only thing they haven't ditched and thats cause it is growing still. i don't think they will drop runeterra. i hope they don't. but i don't think riot just being a massive company means shit when they aren't bothered to update champions cause it doesn't drive players to come back even though they have over a billion USD in revenue annually. and at this point they did update them in LOR so they don't need to figure out the design just for league they have other reasons too but they don't. only now are they starting to do more of them and even then it's 3 of some of the most popular champs in the game at least in terms of how well known they are.
I have so many complains about how bad Riot is at selling themselves (like not bad BAD, I mean they could do so much more with their franchises)
The fact that they never even try conjoined events, the client is old af most people just go into queue and never check anything (and why would they, Riot made the client pretty boring tbh), the skin lines NEVER reflect anything into gameplay, like some visual change in the actual map during the event.
Riot underestimates the power of immersion so much, league isn't the kind of game in which you dive in and do your thing, a lot of players play it like a chore, they enjoy it but still lmao
And I think TB skyen says it better. It's not about spending a dozen resources, is about being smart.
Singed is a mad scientist that boosts his abilities with chemicals and also poisons others, look at the bee skin and it's the same hitbox, the same abilities, the same character, but now suddenly he is a beekeeper that stings you.
It's so much missed potential because LoR does this pretty good. Zoe turned into an evil demonic being, Garen turned into an old veteran.
They have all the resources and the artistic people, but probably the marketing department or who knows isn't putting the work into linking the universe and giving it an identity and a breeze of fresh air for people that wants to escape the real world for a while.
I feel genuinely bad for the man that defends the state of runeterra and then gets paired into an outrageously obnoxious Sett karma player. The problem with runeterra is that its designed top down to appeal to bullies and players of OP crap with no style and then they push those decks and rotation then happened clearing off most cool interactions of the game. this game isn't ran or made by card game players.
