    To get a job is who you know. To keep a job is how good you do. The best compliment you will ever get is a return client.

    This was really helpful! I have some audio interning experience from a semester in LA but now that I'm on the east coast again I was afraid my bonds from that job wouldn't reach across the country. Your channel has given me some great advice - also, I wrote down that high heels tip

    My advice would be to make sure that the personality matches the studios needs . No studio can afford to have employees or interns pissing the clients off or rubbing the clients the wrong way. No studio can afford to lose clients over errors. It doesn't matter how much you think you learned in school. if the school taught you signal flow on an SSL 6000G console. How to patch in a UA 1176 and LA2A. Have some common sense to know that some studios will have an Audient Console or a HELIOS, or an MCI Console and so forth. Overall, Most studios will not even let interns into a control room with high paying clients until they earned their time. The best advice is to be quiet and learn all over again from pro engineers and assistants. My last bit of advice would be to understand that an audio engineer school will have only taught you the very basics

    I had no idea that's how studios worked here in SD. I'm new and still trying to figure out the whole freelancing here. Thanks for the great content!

    I went to a reasonably priced and well regarded community college program for audio. I had a good experience and got a good technical foundation but don't believe any program when they say they'll get you hooked up with an internship or a studio gig. Just go ahead and assume that's 100% up to your efforts. Also, if you're serious, be prepared to complete "group projects" by yourself, lol... Then when no one else has anything completed a week before the due date, in spite of all your efforts to motivate and organize, offer them the 'opportunity' to buy in on your project. I didn't cause I didn't have the mindset or the confidence, I was a "nice guy"... You take your knocks for a while trying to be an engineer, it is inevitable, and you learn the the difference between being nice and being a door mat. If it sounds like I've got a chip on my shoulder, it's because I do, lol..

      Haha, yeah, I know what you're talking about. It can be a bit harsh out there, especially when starting out! This is good advice I think, thanks!

    if you even get lucky to work in a studio that may have a high paying clients like Carrie Underwood or TIm McGraw or Ludacris or Jay Z. Do not and I mean do not under no circumstance get star struck and act like some crowd craze fan that bum rushes the client and ask a million question or try to solicit them with your in experienced demo you did on pro tools in you basic home studio. Clients are there to work with the pro level engineers and producers only, not the intern cleaning bathrooms or making coffee.

    Thanks for your great advices🙏👍. Could you tell me how much is the average wage of a music producer to arrange and mix a song for a client? Imagine a song with 4 instruments, drum, bass, electric guitar, piano and vocal.

    Love the video, askingand I know it old but I have a question for you I’m a producer/songwriter and I’m working on getting clients into the studio and get them off of the internet, so I’m asking how can I get the artists in the studio?

    I know you've been doing sound effects for games, but have you ever done voice over stuff for games?
    Also, have you been recording bands lately?

    • @CatoNoise
      @CatoNoise  5 лет назад

      I've done voice over work, audio books, podcasts, stuff like that - but I haven't done voice over for games yet. I haven't done many bands lately - I've been doing more sound effects and sound design stuff lately, (which I've really been enjoying) and then I have a few recurring gigs that I still do, but not a lot of tracking bands. What sort of stuff do you do?

      @@liamk9906 it's tough right now because of covid. But one thing you could do is attend music/audio meetups (a lot of them are being held via Zoom still). Or, you could try joining FB groups or other forums centered around those interests. Start chatting with people on these platforms and maybe propose some collabs at some point? It stinks that things are limited right now, but I think there are some things you can do. Good luck!

    How do I get a studio job as a beat maker/producer?

    • @CatoNoise
      @CatoNoise  3 года назад +3

      If you haven't already, I would start producing and making beats on your own to build up a portfolio. Once you have a good portfolio going, I would then start searching for clients. Once you have a portfolio and clients, you can usually convince a studio to let you book time there to work on your projects. That's the path that I see most people taking nowadays, since a lot of studios don't have producers or beat makers on staff - and if you're looking to eventually get a one of those very rare staff positions, you'll need to have a killer portfolio, and have already worked with a ton of clients independently. Hope that helps! Good luck!
