    Important: If you want to know more about the first raid on the Tirpitz that Jingles mentioned at 3:00, then look up 'The greatest raid of all' narrated by Jeremy Clarkson.
    It's extremely good and explains so much about the mission and the consequences on the Tirpitz

    My maternal Grandfather grew up in Tromsoe during WW2. He was 10 when Tirpitz was attcked and capsized and remembers that cold, Sunday morning like it was last week. All my childhood, he has told my stories and memories from those day, many of them about the Tirpitz. Stories about just how big she was. How beautiful she was. Stories about when she sailed by, she was called a floating mountain. Stories about how the Tall Boy Bombs exploding, echoed throughout the mountains and could be heard many miles away. Stories about when she had capsized and layed up side down, she was still large as a hill. Stories about the scrapping, and recovering the remains of hundreds of young sailers, decomposed and blown apart. Stories about the germans forces in general and how they were nice, young men, who have chocolate to children. My grandfather is an old man now, but the memories of the days of his youth still beside him.
    Thank you!

    Since Jingles mentioned Tirpitz during Mingles #200.
    A RAF Avro Lancaster called Easy Elsie crash-landed in a mire not far from my childhood home in northern Sweden during the Operation Obviate in 1944. The goal was to sink the Tirpitz as it was moored in Tromsø, Norway. Supposedly Easy Elsie was hit, lost two engines and started to leak fuel during the bombing run. With no chance to fly back to England the captain headed for neutral Sweden for an emergency landing on a mire/bog. The crew survived, but the wreck of the plane is still there.
    Btw, love your channel Jingles :)

    Interesting fact: The Tirpitz's escape into the Atlantic from the Baltic Sea was the reason for Denmark being granted full rights to, in the event of another World War outbreak, mine the entire Kattegat strait and surrounding waters as it sees fit, with no electronic records of mine placement.
    We had a lot of mine-layers during WWII, but we were not given permission to use them before Germany occupied us. If we had, nothing would have gotten in or out of the Baltic without a lot of trouble.

      Tier 6 maybe even 7 (has six guns which fired at 2.5 rpm IRL) probably. But the fact that it uses diesel engines makes me think that the engine won't break very easily.

    • @fortusvictus8297
      @fortusvictus8297 9 лет назад

      +ProudToBeNoob Not sure how WG is going to implement the 'pocket Battleships' they had about the same armor and handling as the Cleveland/Pensacola class cruisers with 6x same gun type as the Bismark class, will change things up alot. All of the German heavy cruisers had larger guns than the USN/IJN ships of the same time and about the same armor and sea-fairing performance.

    • @peterson7082
      @peterson7082 9 лет назад +1

      Fortus Victus No, not the same guns, the Deutschland class had 11" not 15". Plus the German cruisers had the same size (basically) guns as the USN, 150mm light cruiser guns; and 203mm for the Admiral Hipper class.

    • @pursuinginsanity
      @pursuinginsanity 9 лет назад

      +Fortus Victus No, they weren't the same type of guns as the Bismarck class (15" guns), they weren't even the same gun type as the Scharnhorst (which DID have 11" guns). Similar triple turret design (2 turrets instead of 3, but still, different type of gun as well.)
      Also, the Admiral Hipper class didn't have larger guns than USN/IJN ships of the time either; they all used 8" guns. Caliber *length* - perhaps, I seem to recall the Ad. Hipper ships being around 8"/L60 compared to say, USN 8"/L55 or IJN L50.
      Lastly, none of the Kreigsmarine cruisers were very good at sea-keeping compared to the USN/IJN/RN cruisers.

So yea when German navy was a navy it actuallly was fitted with most advanced fiering system. we all know that Iowa came a bit later then Bismarc did so yea. But true USA ships were most acurate but also they were much biiger navy force then Germany ever was and its a fact. In this game aka World of warships German BBs are actually straight out something god knows what. When in reallity they were good at range but devastating the closer you got to them. I will not say US ships are worst then what Germany had no they were better. But here in world of warships German main guns are ussles at any range most of the time. I mean I cant sometimes get a citadell on 8 km away BB even tho my shoots are aimed where it should sit. My main guns are like yea go low go high go wide hhaaha and you end up 6k dmg when that should be death sentence. But its a game and a russian game and now imaginary russian ships are better then fucking US ships and JApan ships. Yea game balance my fat ass ships are build to be good at somethin. German ships closer range but armoured with well decent accuracy longer range. US ships great long range but bad closer beacuse their armour is not great and so on.

    So almost 4 years after this video posted... I find it. I just acquired the Tirpitz... (WoW Blitz version) and I like the ship, but really need to learn to play her. I get killed a lot and I'm not doing much damage. But the first thing that struck me is the hit points.... mine has 10,000 less than the ship in the video. I don't know if that is because Blitz has different stats than the PC version, or because the programmers lowered it. The other thing I noticed is that mine does not have a spotter plane. Again... I don't know if it's a Blitz variant. I don't play the computer version of the game. At least not yet, anyway. Either way, I like playing her. But I need to get smarter and better with her.

I was very impressed to see the thorough amount of work you have put in to give us a run-through of your impressions of the battleship in-game along with the historical overview as to why this particular ship is so very special. Looking at the Tirpitz I sincerely hope that the British still retain the fastest fire rate when they are eventually put in, considering the Warspite is tier 6 and Tirpitz tier 8 and the Tirpitz reloads only marginally faster it looks like this hopefully will be true.
    PS; From experience I know that the Amagi is a floating citadel, seeing Vava get one shot like that is just the Amagi in a nutshell.

    • @15DEAN1995

      why would the uk battleships get the fastest rate of fire considering the warspite has the largest guns at tier 6? although i have absolutely no idea what battleships they will have at the top tiers. i dont think their biggest constructed battleship will reach tier 10 so i wonder how that will work out.

    • @QuantumShock1
      @QuantumShock1 9 лет назад +3

      DEANOGTO Because historically British battleships always had the fastest fire rate, it was so reinforced in the Royal naval to keep being the fastest loading ships that it led to many ships simply blowing up at the battle of Jutland because the British gun operators were cutting corners to get that extra few seconds of fire per minute.

      @@rtwiceorb770 Its really simple to get, yes we all have done incredibly ugly things, but I do think there is a difference in doing those things because you're back is against a wall because of an evil group threatening all peace for humanity, and a group doing those things without provocation, which makes them evil like the Nazis and Japanese of WW2.
      If our bombers had any sort of accuracy whatsoever I promise you there wouldn't have been "strategic bombing" or maybe the atom bomb, though that was just as much because when it comes to invading Japan, there are not really any civilians, the women and children would have attacked us like a military force. Bombing them so severely brought their population to the same conclusion as it was forced to come to one way or another. But it saved many lives of the side that was not going around raping and murdering millions without provocation.
      The enemy powers of WW2 were the pinicule of evil of modern history. Except italy, they were just cowards trying to be as selfish but couldnt perform well enough to even be considered a threat to the world whatsoever.
      Nobody would have been hurt by England or America untill they were forced to act in a defense of terror and annihilation.
      Japan and Germany at the time were doing the worst crimes possible because they wanted to. That is the difference.

      @@rtwiceorb770 You didnt explain anything of why what i said was wrong?
      I was explaining why the entire world hates Nazis, not what Nazis used as their excuse to be evil.
      The treaty of WW1 is a different story and in my only slightly educated opinion, the Germans deserved to be treated badly because they were all about sparking that horrible war, they were looking for any excuse and just allowed Austria to be the catalyst. Though there were a dozen countries begging for a reason atm so i dont only blame them for WW1 like so many do.
      And to hell with what was promised to Italy, again during that war they were nothing but greedy cowards only doing what was better for them at any cost to others. I dont say this as just a whiny American, for i am Italian as well. But through both of those eras Italy was nothing but shameful..
      I dont consider the US and UK only nice and good, but i do consider their form at that time as much better then Germany Italy Japan and Russia of those times.

    Jingles! There is a fairly old card game called Naval War, published by Avalon Hill. It may not be produced anymore, but it is like a card version of World of Warships. You have a fleet of different ships, with different caliber guns, like 15'', 14'', 12.6'' and the monster 18'' of the Musashi and Yamato. You draw 'Salvo' cards, and play the appropriate caliber 'salvo' with what ships have those guns. There are also carriers from the US, UK, and Japan.
