    Rugby has led the way for years with refereeing, they make everything transparent, microphones up so people can hear the explanation of why they have given a decision. Respect in rugby is far superior just because they have put the rules in and stuck by them.

    Gross income is £100,000, Tax on that is around £28,000 and NI works out at £5000 so they actually only take home around £66k a year or £5.5k a month. Dunoo about everyone else but i think thats quite a small salary considering the amount of money circulating in football these days.

    Just look how uncomfortable Ferdinand & Jenas are when this conversation is brought up. Complete lack of respect towards referee's and we completely need to learn from Rugby. Also Jake Humphries trying to joke about that incident is ridiculous as it is one mistake that could have ruined his livelihood.

    • @niallowens6312
      @niallowens6312 6 лет назад +22

      I'd turn your suggestion around, referees (FAs) need to learn from Rugby because in Rugby the ref actually explains his decisions, in football they don't. Getting the ref's perspective on a decision would calm down the majority of situations, whereas at the moment a decision is taken and more often than not the players involved don't know why,

    • @chroniclestours6903
      @chroniclestours6903 6 лет назад +12

      It's the whole culture of the sport that is the issue though. In rugby refs explain their decisions and usually that is respected and everyone moves on. I'd love to think that would happen in football but I'm not so optimistic. If the ref gives an explanation either during or after the game for a controversial decision, won't that just give the media even more to speculate on and criticise them for? It's all about interpretation at the end of the day, and in rugby it is an accepted part of the game to learn how to play the game the way the ref is interpreting it for that particular game. In football we think everyone's opinion is equal. That's a big difference.

      It was Graham Poll, WC 2006 Group Stage. Josip Simunic, Croatian Defender given 3 Yellow Cards against Australia. I just love that he got away with a double Yellow, and still got a third Yellow and sent off. And the best part of all, the second Yellow was in the 90th minute, he got a third Yellow card in the 93rd minute.

    Most english referees are nowhere near as good as referees elsewhere in Europe. But they speak as if they are Colilina. The difference is they dont want to be criticised.

    United were more disciplined than other teams and fouled less, so more decisions going their way than not in a season was fair. They were fouled more, since rival defenders couldn't dispossess them fairly, and this also created a perception of referee bias among inferior teams' fans. They played faster, more accurate football than other teams, so rival fans of worse teams like Liverpool etc. couldn't follow along and were often exasperated by what they perceived as a wrong decisions, when the ball was simple moving too fast for them to judge. United fans were used to this speed and so didn't have a problem. So called "Fergie Time" was a product of United's excellent fitness and mental discipline, which allowed them to score very often late in a game. Other teams may have also had very long injury times, as part of normal variation, but it wasn't noticed because they didn't score. So it was really United's overall excellence that contributed to these false accusations of bias.
