I have never heard this man's voice yet I have seen him a billion times and have known his personality for years. It's weird that referees are not allowed to talk and perhaps, if they were allowed to explain their decisions or admit mistakes, we might get on better with them, since their lack of a voice dehumanises them and makes them seem like robots.

In an end-to-end match you can clearly see he can't keep up with the match and will blow for fouls the second a player goes down, and he's usually 30-40 yards away if that. As an avid football watcher, I've never seen a ref so obvously bad at his job than Jon Moss and I'm incredibly happy he's retired.
Agreed, i do however think at times it would help the game if we had an understanding or an explanation of some decisions, might even make the game a better product with that sort of transparency. Perhaps we even see less diving and more balanced game if refs explain the thinking behind decisions. Same goes for VAR refs.

I was in stitches seeing the first pic of him as a caddy! I don't think any PL ref has stuck out to me as much as Mike Dean. Absolute legend and hearing him talk about "getting wrapped up in the football" shows that he was always in it for the right reasons.
I saw Mike at a Refs night in Cheltenham some years back You were absolutely superb Mike I loved it and so did my fellow refs from Bristol. Thanks for everything Mike and I wish you a wonderful retirement

Watching him making too many mistakes throughout the years. Send Wenger off for kicking a water bottle. Dean and wrong decisions are synonymous. If he referring championship matches, I can see why he became the top ref, but in high stakes matches, the guy was poor. Technical players was almost being allowed to be kicked all over.

I do prefer the top refs England had such as Webb and Clattenberg who had authority on the pitch like the top refs do, but I reckon Dean commands their respect in another way.
