I've got that exact car - same year, same colour, 4 doors, automatic. Still drive it daily, and my mechanic tells me to keep it and not bother with newer cars. I drive new cars in my job, and when I get back into my '96 Civic to go home, I realize how much better it drives than cars that are 24 years newer. On 2 lane highways, I can get over 50 mpg (imperial gallons) if I hold it at 85 kph (about 52 mph) with cruise control . The interior ergonomics are basically perfect. Just went over 100,000 km (62,000 miles) on the odometer this past summer! My mechanic said that it could outlast me.
@d m if you really have only 100,000 km on something that age you could have a rare survivor of an old Civic. Another thing I like about old civics, really all older cars in general? They look nice & simple. Not the ugly fashion lines & the dressup & funky looking front ends that all new cars seem to have. Also, look how gorgeous & beautiful the simplicity is of those silver steelies👍. Again, not trying too hard to be overly dressed up like a new vehicle from 2022. Old Civic styling is absolutely amazing & the simplicity is a wonderful sight.
@@Blakecryderman7244 Still have it, still drive it daily, and it has 105K km on it now. Normally I don't put more than 2,500 km per year, but I moved recently, and put about 2000 travelling back and forth from my old place to the new one doing the move one car load at a time. In the past year, it needed a new brake line going to the rear brakes. That and the yearly oil change. I too like the pragmatic, functional, clean design.
I just bought this civic in 5 speed with a stock D16, I have a lot of plans for it. I have diamond hands on this one I love civics I’ve deeply regretted every time I’ve sold one so this time I’m keeping it forever 😊
Proud owner of a 1999 Acura EL. My car is 20 years young and still going strong. I think my Honda will outlive me... Two thumbs up and a salute to 6th Gen Civic!
@MR M ONMAN holy crap! That translates to 1.2 million KM! I’ve seen 10 year old taxi Prius’s do that, but you have an old car that’s actually done that over the course of many more years, that’s the real deal. Manual transmission I’m assuming? Do you still have it? If you do, what’s the mileage on it now?
Had a 97 black si coupe. Swapped the motor to a B16B Type R motor from Japan. 9k rpm redline... man that engine would sing like nothing else I’ve heard before.
I have a 99 civic, still running strong! I also have 2 other civic of the same generation, over 20 years old, still going strong! I have to comment about his remark about the rear defrost that turns on the A/C. Without the A/C turned on in winter weather when your defrosting your glass you build up moisture on all your windows while drive, this becomes a nascence wiping the inner glass of your windows, this civic automatically turns it on for you so it doesn't fog up your windows. Some other cars don't do that, and you have to turn on the A/C manually!
The only things I don't like is it have very big headlights compared to any other in 1996, wish I could get Acura EL front clip and headlights for my Civic
The rack of this vague steering is also too slow, while Integra or Type R's rack enlarges the already-bulky turning radius. Using “32-cm diameter” steering wheel solves both problems, but the instrumentation will be partially blocked.
I was looking thru autotrader and I found one with only 9,000 km garage kept for 13,000 CAD. Looks absolutely MINT. I’m not even looking for one but damn if I had the money to burn I’d be tempted. Unfortunately auto though.
What a fucking dog, I grew up in that car sold it to someone else the car still runs like new and has never showed any signs of problem only thing changed is the battery.

@@SeekingPleroma wow super low kilometres. You have 400,000 kilometres or more left of life with the Civic.
Best Civic ever period. And it's styling hasn't aged. It still looks good.
One of the best car in history!
To paraphrase Coco Chanel; "You can never go wrong with a Honda Civic."

I owned this car for 10 years till i sold it. Hardly had any issues, drove perfectly well in that time. Usual annual service and that was all.
i have 1.4is hatchback and just bought 1.5 e-vtec sedan. never gonna change car anymore

Bullet proof is what Bill always says when it comes to Honda and Toyota. Thanks for watching!
Ive own my 97 civic 5 speed for 3 years. Its going to run till it dies.
I Love My Civic 00 EX Manual. 80k miles! Great Vídeo! Brasil 😎

my dream car!
