*sorry for the long essay but here we go ,*
This specific form of singing style is called indian classical music , people practice and perfect their skills for decades starting from a very young age . Classical form is usually a bit modernized when used in Indian pop . Ofcourse this isn't all but I can't even begin to explain the entirety of these ancient techniques and musical genres . I would suggest watching a detailed explanation video online .
Indian classical music is a rich tradition that originated in South Asia and can now be found in all corners of the world. It's origins date back to sacred Vedic scriptures over 6,000 years ago where chants developed a system of musical notes and rhythmic cycles .
Indian classical music has two foundational elements, raga and tala. The raga, based on a varied repertoire of swara (notes including microtones), forms the fabric of a deeply intricate melodic structure, while the tala measures the time cycle.Indian classical music is very closely connected to nature, taking inspiration from natural phenomena including the seasons and times of the day to create ‘ragas’ or musical moods and many time cycles or taals’ that have been further codified.
*For Efra ,
Which instruments are used in Indian classical music?
Many different instruments have been used and developed for Indian classical music such as:
Sitar - The sitar is a plucked stringed instrument used in Hindustani (North Indian) classical music. The instrument flourished under the Mughals and it is named after a Persian instrument called the setar (meaningthree strings). The sitar flourished in the 16th and 17th centuries and arrived at its present form in 18th-century India. It derives its distinctive timbre and resonance from sympathetic strings, bridge design, a long hollow neck and a gourd-shaped resonance chamber.
Tabla - The tabla is a membranophone percussion instrument originating from the Indian subcontinent, consisting of a pair of drums, used in traditional, classical, popular and folk music. It has been a particularly important instrument in Hindustani classical music since the 18th century, and remains in use in India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Nepal,Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka.
Vocal - Many instruments aim to emulate the voice in their technique and expression. In both North and South India there is a strong tradition of vocal music ranging from extensive elaborations of ‘ragas’ to lighter songs and romantic or spiritual poetry.
Veena - The veena comprises a family of chordophone instruments of the Indian subcontinent. Ancient musical instruments evolved into many variations, such as lutes, zithers and arched harps. The many regional designs have different names such as the Rudra veena, the Saraswati veena, the Vichitra veena and others.
Mridangam - The Mridangam is a percussion instrument from India of ancient origin. It is the primary rhythmic accompaniment in a Carnatic music ensemble, and in Dhrupad, where it is known as Pakhawaj.
This is just the tip of a giant iceberg , hope this summary explains some of the basics .

Great job ....i myself didn't knew so much...I learnt a lot.... But I doubt for whom u have written, they even care to read it. ☹️
it came from vedas not South Asia say ancient India or bhrathi instead
What she did here is not common. She went full on BEAST MODE!!!!
There are alot of genre in indian music too and they are all incredible!!
“Too” dude u can’t compare Indian classical to any western these classical Carnatic singers are far superior than western they r not even close to these classical singer
@@utkarshsrivastava2380 that's too rude. Western music has a lot and it's definitely not very easy. I'm a carnation music student trying to learn western music and trust me it's not easy.

You should watch Shreya ghoshal singing at the Berklee indian ensemble, song aap ki nazron, it's way better quality audio and video. You'll be able to understand the technicalities of her singing style.
Hey! The part which Efra was referring to as left right left right is actually a sargam, which if broken down to the simplest of meanings, is music using the indian counterpart of do re mi fa so la ti do. We use sa re ga ma pa dha ni sa.
Hoped that could give you a little insight and I feel so proud of being an Indian when I see you guys enjoying our talented artists and their music 😊❤️
Yes I was saying the same thing in my mind while watching this.that they should know it's like do re mi fa so la ti do.in hindi, bangla and other many languages its sa re ga ma pa dha ni sa❤
now just imagine them finding out the difference in hindustani classical music and karnatik classical music..
more precise word instead of sargam is taan , used in raags
@@kashishdwivedi5691 hindustani lmao these things originated in ancient bharth not Mughal so called hindutan correct it..ragas kathak bhratnatayam all are vedic or puranic.. originated
I think something u wouldn't know is there is something called Indian classical singing, which is different from the West & it's techniques i believe. Most of our singers are classically trained or learn that.
That breathless part of quick notes is the play of do re mi ....notes
And there are tons of beast indian singers.
For me indian classical music is toughest classical music.
I am right here with ya'.Indian classical music is very intricate all the ragas and sargams and runs🔥
Ikr, it's also the most beautiful , soothing and magical ...
Heavenly music
Exooooo-lll!!!! 🥺🥺🥺🥺♥️♥️♥️♥️
@@marina6430 yeah , I think we all are❤️❤️❤️
There are alot of singers in India that are good at vocal excercise , but she is good at multiple languages and keep good pronounciation.
You are kinda correct. That part which impressed you is called Sargam and is mostly practised by all classical trainees during vocal training. I would request you to react to Sound of Nation by Amit Trivedi and A.R Rahman Live performances.
I wanna recommend Deewani Mastani from the movie Bajirao mastani. The song is sung by shreya and the whole video is a treat to watch. You won't regret watching it. It's a good mixture of Shreya's amazing vocals, a good Bollywood performance and amazing direction.
Up
Up!!
That or ghoomar
Yesssssss
Yes
The last part what she did, is called the sargam, just like how in Western singing we have Do, Re, Mi.........
In Indian classical we have Sa, Re, Ga, Ma,........
she doing is run is totally unusual. you can listen to Ghar more paredesiya full song (aroun 10 minutes long) to yourself listen how well she manages to do those runs. she's called queen of music in india coz what she can do is hardly a cup of tea for any other singer in india nowadays, and even some of the previous generation legends.
She is the highest paid singer in india😊21-22lakhs rupees per song😩And She is called the melody queen india. She is the living legend.💜 You should know she can sing pop also😊
I want to clear that in India, You don't get paid for singing a song. Singers earn from concerts and ads. 😢
@@sayanghosh2595 Both too singers like Shreya , Sunidhi, Arijit , neha do get paid.
@@yourblackstar19 they don't. They get paid for the concerts or if it's a music video in which they are acting then it's paid for only acting. For singing a song, they don't get paid.
These two are definitely very good with their understanding of music. Especially the girl , I think her name is Waleska , she has sharp musical sensibility. She got immediately when Shreya was doing the sargam that it is an arrangement of notes. Many western reactors ask “what is she saying , is she rapping etc”. In the previous video , she quickly identified the folk song also as “folksy”. This is what knowing and analysing is.
She is using her hands to imagine the notes and put perfectly on the "Raaga" Scale
The movie version of the song is incredible dance and performance wise maybe you could check it out too

She is singing indian classical song . When she was 5 years old , she was learning indian classical music . So she can sing any song . example for - Rock , pop , sad , Romentic , indian classical song etc . And that's why indian classical is so powerful 💪💪

Best way to understand how it’s done is to interview Shreya herself. She never says no
This is a classical song composed for the purpose of classical dance in the movie that's why there are many riffs, raags and runs.Yes, she is one of the best vocals.
I hope to see you reacting to Shankar Mahadevan - Breathless song in which he sings without break for 3 min literally. I'm sure you will be happy to hear such vocalisation and also Vishal dadlanis coke studio Collab of Madari song is another good composition.

That is Indian classical music which has way older roots when world didn't understand what music is. Proud to be 🇮🇳.
There are many notes in Indian classical music that are not there in western music which you may feel are 'accidental' or uncommon but actually are commonly used in Indian compositions.

Shreya Ghoshal is gold. Her voice is magical and healing. But looking at people all over the world appreciate her makes me so happy. She deserves sooo much love and recognition. She sings in soo many languages. It’s really sad that Bollywood don’t give chances to such people.
Am biggest fan of shreya ghoshal after lata mangeshkar ji ❤❤
Actually Indian people who aspire to become had to singer to trained their voice through classical music and notes which ultimately helps them to make those precursion and approach in notes. If they are inborn talented then it's a plus point.
She can sing more than 20 different languages.. she is a legend ❤️❤️
The end section where she just hits notes so accurately is called as 'sargam'
Great reaction guys..Shreya is Nightingale of India ❤️react to her bengali songs too 😍she is at another level when she sings bengali songs 😀I will suggest u guys to react to Shreya Ghoshal's bengali song "Esho Hey"frm movie "Ek Je Chilo Raja"it's fabulous 😍
I think y'all gonna fall in love the depeer you go into Indian music. It's nothing like what the rest of the world is used to.
NO WAIT IM SO HAPPY 😭😭 let me watchgg
The rifts or accidents you talk about is done by almost everyone trained in Indian classical music be it Hindustani or Carnatic. It is the essence of our music. Every song is based on one raaga or a combination of raagas and the rifts they do are within the boundaries of that raaga. A raaga consists of the musical notes i.e sa re ga ma pa da ni and every raaga is built around these notes and the it is left to the singer to bring out the essence of the raag they sing. Everything is almost onstage improvisation
QUEEN SHREYA 💜💜
She's singing in most languages in India 🇮🇳👍
Guys you should watch berkley ensemble of Indian music. You would fall in love with them
Ahh the part you guys were talking about is a sargam, and she was basically singing our version of 'do re mi fa so la ti do'
In India, music is studied not only for fun and for expressing art, but it is studied as a curriculum almost. There are styles that stretch all the way in the North like Sufi music to the ancient carnatic styles in the South. Children are drilled with the basics relentlessly. They are taught like they're in a class and when they make mistakes, they are censured! It's beautiful. There is deep respect for music in India. Especially the traditional forms of music. Now of course, this has evolved into the modern takes of music in India. Even there perfectionism is always the goal. Apart from the jingoistic Movie songs which have their own charm in every region of the country. We're a musical nation!
every step in the indian classical music is so precisely defined
So, thats how legend sings
You can hold your notes and modulation with your hand movement.. It's very important in indian classical music. That's how you don't miss any note.
If you want to indulge in the cultural part of indian music anything from the Darbar Festival is a go to. I'd suggest the thumri by Nina Burmi! Hauntingly beautiful that

You guys must React to Rahat Fateh ali khan he is literally master of this
you can say the concept as ''RAAGA'' with many more of Indian classical concepts
She's my fav always gives me chills
The right left part you said are basically combinations of the indian versions of the "do re mi fa..." that we sing as " sa re ga ma pa...", these combinations of notes sung together like this is basically called "taan" and is something Indian classical singers are trained in.
Indian classical uses so many notes between the major notes that western world thinks are "proper" to use. It's way more complex than western music, needs a lot of training to even comprehend the intricacies of Indian music.
Actually the part you guys were referring to as left right left right is actually a Sargam, it is a piece of music using the Indian counterpart of do re mi fa so la ti do. We use sa re ga ma pa dha ni sa. I hope it helped.🤗💜
Love from India guys. Wherever Shreya ghoshal is.... We will be there. I recommend to listen in headphone for best experience.

ok. The rap part is Sargam.....consist of 7 swaras namely.....saa re gaa ma pa dha ni saa again. whole indian music fits into this....lv from india
This song was composed specifically for a semi classical dance in a movie. U should definitely see the video of that dance to see how the singing and dancing go together hand in hand. The movie is called bhool bhulaya.
Indian classical music is very different . Basically it focuses on development of strong diaphragms along with lungs and simultaneously using both while singing. Plz react to a performance of kaushiki chakraborty's exquisite evening for understanding the complexities. Thank u.
These are predefined "runs" of notes (known as "Sargam" in indian classical) .. it's like singing a predefined set of "do re mi fa..." ...in India classical we call it "Sa Re Ga Ma Pa dha ni Sa".. there are thousands of such combinations pertaining to different moods of human emotions....
This is more of a layman explanation...you would have to spend an entire lifetime to know the depth of Indian classical. Hope this helps ...keep up the seeking and good work.. Cheers!! 🤟
