I had a chance to use one of these little gems at a class in Toronto last year, and I was so incredibly impressed with it. We only used a couple of buffs on it, so I really don't know much else about what it can do, but it was *sooo* much easier to use than the huge lathe we had at school. It's really a perfect size for a bench, and I was very surprised at how inexpensive it is. I found it far less intimidating than the full size one.

Hi Melissa, I just had a quick question re the Foredom bench lathe, I am planning to buy a polishing motor, to just try get a higher shine than what I get from using my Foredom SR flex, and I thought about purchasing this, though I've recently been told it's good for silver but not fast enough for gold (I'm not sure why!). There are cheaper models I've seen that go as far as 8,500 rpm. I trust Foredom so it would be my preference though the comment re speed has left me questioning. Any advice you have would be amazing. Thanks so much
I had never heard that it wasn’t fast enough for gold. It worked great on the pieces I have done. I love this machine as it has a lot of torque. I didn’t think much of it when I first saw it, but my tune totally changed when I used it.
