Thanks for another great sawing video.
Everyone needs to change out a carriage cable once in their life.
You're welcome. I agree!!
Good sawing and a tight cable. Blessings
Thanks 👍
@@nicholssawmillandmore Yall too. The old sawyer/logger's grandson here is a Jason too. Small world.
I guess so
@@nicholssawmillandmore Can't help it.
good job on the cable stuff...
Thanks!
Hands on man , the big boys will never be able to compete with that as long as you keep your health .😊
Hope you are right. Thanks
Like watching you saw. Not much loss of motion a lot guys you watch are sawing air. Would be nice to hear you comment on what you’re doing.
Thanks. I need to get miked up I guess.
Extraordinarily cool
Thanks.
good content, good job
Glad you enjoyed it
Nice batch of logs you got work with today. How long ago did you replace the existing drum and cable?
The drum we removed was about 18 years old. The cable was about 1 and half years old. Thanks!
@@nicholssawmillandmore How often do you clean and re-grease the cable?
Hopefully replacing the drum will give you longer life on your cable. We run ours somewhat loose. Have had the same cable now for 7 years the coating is just starting to come off now. So won’t be long before it starts to fray
I don't. Maybe I should.
Another great sawing video, Jason. How long did it take to change out the cable and drum?
Bill
Thanks. Unfortunately it took about a day and a half.
Is there a specific way the cable twist has to go the drum? Nice video. I miss having your commentary.
Yes. A picture is always nice to help remember. Thanks and I need to get a microphone 🎤 for sure. Hope that happens soon.
Are the squared up logs going to a resaw?
Yes but actually we do that on 1 of 2 bandmills.
What happens to the big flitches that you send down the line?
The large squares are resawn. The slabs and strips go through chipper. The bds with wane or barky sides are edged.
@@nicholssawmillandmore Roger that. I spent a number of years in local timber mills in my youth and thought that might be the case. Cheers.
Why are your logs debarked sometimes and then sometimes they are not debarked?
Sometimes they are too rough for debarker. But right now the debarker is broken.
16:27ISH Do you have a metal detector.
We have a handheld version. Not one that every log goes through.
I got a feeling there is alot of waste, or maybe its just me, looks like it
I'm going to have a video talking about this subject soon.
