Got hooked when I was 13 I'm 18 now, working to make myself a better person I've just recently started lifting, been working to break my nailbiting habit, and most importantly, been working to break my porn addiction This is something I didn't even think of before, but it makes so much sense now to go day by day instead of keeping count
I'm currently on 2 years of no fap and no porn. One of the greatest achievements of my life. Everything gets better trust me. My Tips: 1. You are in control. You can force yourself to give up and change your life. 2. Realize the life long permanent physical and mental damage you will do to yourself if you continue. 3. Find new hobbies don't let yourself get bored. Watch movies, series, read novels or play games in free time so you don't have time for other stuff. Even try to create your own content like I do. Keep yourself busy there are lot of great books, movies, games out there 4. Start slowly if it's too hard. In the beginning I did no fap for few weeks then few months and then a record 10 months. And after that my current longest streak of 2 years which I know I won't break 5. Pushups everyday. Start from 10 everyday till you can do 50 then keep doing 50 a day. 6. Realize the good thinks that will happen. In 2 years my entire life changed. Everything got better. Everything. You feel 10 times smarter, 10 times stronger. 10 times more confident. I've always believed that the solution is simple but not at all easy, which is why it's always tempting to look for a clever work around or a quick fix. Like you said, ultimately it comes down to breaking the habit of falling prey to immediate gratification, and one does this by being busy and choosing to do the difficult thing over and over again. It actually requires a real change in behaviour and self identification which is why, despite being deceptively simple, is still incredibly hard to pull off.
Listen brothers, I was just like you trying everything to stop this and I was failing always, until I find out that all I need for this is one rule: “ every time I fap- I give up on 50$ “ All you need to do is to make the fap thing cost you something measurable, you need to see it and feel it so you can decide not to do it. One of the worst things that's been built around NoFap and self-improvement culture is this idea that everyone is trying to surmount a giant obstacle. When you build up this monster in your head, it'll only get bigger and bigger until you won't ever feel like you're doing enough to get past it. When you take your fears and your obstacles and break them down into smaller, more easily-digestible tasks (Such as turning a mountain into a flat terrain) and taking it step by step (day by day) then it will become so much more manageable.
You're right on the mark. And I'd like to add to this that no great person ever overcame their obstacles by climbing a steep mountain. When you look at people of accomplishment, they always start out just doing what they do for fun and only after that do they decide to dedicate themselves fully. The most important thing is that you keep moving forwards every day and have fun doing it.

Yeah, people on the nofap subreddit are too strict about streaks and stuff. The essential thing is to do it in moderation -adjust your frequency of fapping in a smooth manner until its suitable for you. Personally, i prefer a limit of once a week or two. I don't obsess over making streaks because i am making progress anyway and streaks are just too stressful and induce guilt after breaking a streak you counted every single day for. Remember you are weakening the effect of fapping upon yourself, not running after the impossible by completely trying to quit it.

I think we face a compounded problem, porn + fapping. While porn is bad, fapping I think is debatable. I am trying to quit porn 100% first, and then slowly reduce the frequency of fapping, only do it when my body strongly urges me to. There is some sort of metabolism at work when you fap, right? the pre-cum, cum, etc, you gotta use them so your body would replenish them. Also you can maintain a healthy blood flow down there.
It’s not bad to bust a nut every now and then. But semen retention has its benefits as well as busting here and there. Most guys are busting too often, right? And porn compounds this which ties to your opening statement. It’s very much like alcohol, perhaps. Moderation is key. Many men think moderation is only a couple times a week when it should be a couple times a month. (Fap, no porn) I will say porn does give you a benefit. You’re able to see how to please women more effectively. But that’s something you learn quickly.

I think we face a compounded problem, porn + fapping. While porn is bad, fapping I think is debatable. I am trying to quit porn 100% first, and then slowly reduce the frequency of fapping, only do it when my body strongly urges me to. There is some sort of metabolism at work when you fap, right? the pre-cum, cum, etc, you gotta use them so your body would replenish them. Also you can maintain a healthy blood flow down there.
It’s not bad to bust a nut every now and then. But semen retention has its benefits as well as busting here and there. Most guys are busting too often, right? And porn compounds this which ties to your opening statement.
It’s very much like alcohol, perhaps. Moderation is key. Many men think moderation is only a couple times a week when it should be a couple times a month. (Fap, no porn)
I will say porn does give you a benefit. You’re able to see how to please women more effectively. But that’s something you learn quickly.
