Dun Morogh - Music & Ambience - World of Warcraft

  • Encircled by jagged mountain peaks, the snowy region of Dun Morogh has been the cultural heart of Ironforge’s dwarves for ages. Not long ago, quakes roused numerous troggs from their subterranean dwellings and drove the bestial creatures toward the dwarven settlement of Anvilmar in Coldridge Valley. The sudden influx of troggs also caused the savage Frostmane trolls to abandon their usual holdings on Shimmer Ridge and encroach upon dwarf-occupied areas. Threatened on two fronts, Dun Morogh’s mountaineers are spread thin. Without additional assistance, the prized lands of Dun Morogh might soon fall to the dwarves’ barbarous foes.

I remember i saw my dad playing WoW and i had always asked for an account over and over. One Christmas, he got me an account, The one character i had was a level 10 priest named "Santaa" and it had 100 gold on in and it baffled me how a level 10 had 100 gold? I asked my dad and all he said was "I guess Santa play's his fair share of WoW too." Those were the best days of my life. I still haven't deleted or replaced that character and i'm leaving it there for as long as i can in remembrance of those days.

Word, I played from the beta until the release of AQ, and then off and on for a number of years through Cata. I still have a lot of the blue and purple gear I got from the early days of Classic on my old hunter stashed in the bank (Blackhand's Breadth and Rhok Delar anyone?)

Wow, that is a great present. At the time I got playing my first gold piece made me feel like a rich man. I would even tell my guildies (brothers guild originally) how I obtained it and everyone was congratulating me (knowing I was an 8 year old noob). Great community back in the day. The original community's absence is kinda what made me quit the game after 11 years of loyal commitment.

I remember when I started playing WoW with a dwarf hunter 'cause I loved the guy on the vanilla's front cover, those were the best memories I have of this game, not caring a shit about stats and items, I didn't even know what the hearthstone was for and I didn't see a green item until the lvl 30 at least, freaking out when I saw an skull level horde in Thelsamar when I was lvl 15 and taking me days for reach 10 lvls, probably because I had to read all the quest briefing before, I was a noob, but a happy one. Listening to this musis has become the best way to play WoW for me.

2007-2009, 13-15 years old. Best years of my goddamn life. I remember staying up as you did, 5 in the morning after a long gaming night in the Christmas holidays, right after the release of WOTLK leveling my gnome mage to 55, so I could try out the Death Knights. Was celebrating me receiving my first epic weapon with my only source of food during the night: some kind of left over Christmas cake lol. It was just such a good time. Did well in school, was training martial arts being in top physical condition and I didn't know it yet, but would get my first girlfriend the coming summer. And I was just able to enjoy this magical world without a care in the world. Those days are long gone.... But that's life.

Man I remember back in the vanilla days, me being a hardcore Horde player, whenever I made a new Hunter class (I was an alt-aholic and kept deleting and making new chars all the time, I guess I enjoyed the first 20 levels of the game over endgame).... anyway I always was obsessed with taming only rare spawn animals, I was never satisfied with normal mobs as hunter pets. And polar bears being one of of my favorite RL animals I really wanted a white polar bear pet over the brown or black variations, unfortunately as far I as knew and researched the only white polar bears in the game were the level 50+ ones in Winterspring, and the only low level one being Bjarn, a rare spawn in Dun Morogh.
Being a Horde player this was a HUGE problem for me, seeing how there was no connecting Horde city or zone. The only way for my Orc / Tauren / Troll hunters could get there was to take the zeppelin to Silverpine Forest / Undercity and then literally run through Silverpine Forest > Hillsbrad Foothills > Arathi Highlands > Wetlands > Loch Modan > Dun Morogh. Loch Modan was always hard since it had narrow passages in the mountains connecting the zones that was guarded with high level npc guards that would kill me. I always died several times, would have to run back as a ghost, stand near my corpse and as a ghost wait for the patrol npc to walk away, rinse and repeat, I would die 3-4 times just trying to leave the zone.
I would have to do all this naked or have all my gear broken by the time I reached my destination with no means to repair it, I was behind enemy lines after all. The interesting bit was I was able to see all these new cool zones the Alliance players got to quest and explore in.
But after many hours of frustration and camping Bjarn, it was all worth it to have the only white polar bear pet in the early game, not just for any Alliance player, but more special and rare for a Horde player to own one.
I would go through similar frustrating experiences for several other rare spawn pets in the various expacs like thousands of other hunter players as well but this one stands out the most for me.
If you're still reading after this wall of text then I thank you for taking the time to listen to one nerds experiences and hope you have a wonderful day.

Jajaja, made my laugh. I was a gnome back then. But deserves plenty attetion to did this task. In my opinion i personal think that WoW was more than a online game, i feel and felt those days like we showed the best of our brain, heart and soul, just beacuse we want to met other people and have distinctive things to shown.
Love the story, is not the only one i read on comments but its one of the best.

Haha, thats awesome. My story is not so interesting. I didnt speak any english at all before (I actually learned a lot from WoW), so my tauren druid had no bear form till level 35 cause I missed that quest at level 10. Then, after seeing several druids being in bear form at mine / lower levels, I slowly figgured it out I missed something... probably quest... I have no idea how I managed to talk people out to show me where to finish that quest with my lack of english skills, but eventually someone was kind enough to show me. I had no idea that things like thotbot existed, and I had no idea there could be something like guides on the internet, and Im glad for it that I didnt know... it made whole experience so much better, finding things out for myself.

Blizzard has done so many things rights with all of their games but the single greatest thing they have done for the gaming community is the music they have made. Every game I play now has to bring their A game with their music or it just falls short. The way Blizzard was able to blend music with the theme of the story and lore was truly poetic. Thank you Blizzard and thank you Everness for bringing this into our lives so we can continue to remember these great times and help us with the future ahead of us.

I’ve also found that some games take it too far. Final Fantasy 14 is one of those games, it has good music but it’s going at 11 all the time. Sometimes you want some slower music and WoW has just that. It’s the perfect mix of ambient noise and in some moments just a single French horn or piano.

Over the last few years I've been desperately searching for a game that somehow could equally mesmerize and fascinate me, but either nowadays games are way too shallow or it's just getting older and losing the ability to get completely lost in a different world.. One of my earliest memories of WoW is with my dwarf hunter. I remember FINALLY logging in, creating my character and clicking "enter world", I remember calling my mom and telling her that the game worked! I am very fond of this memory. WoW is by far the game that I enjoyed the most.

I remember a gnome mage at the tavern that asked me to join him at the table and eat, he conjured himself some food. REALLY miss Ironforge as the main city, There was a closeness with your own faction, b4 cross realms, everyone knew each other or at least you would see a toon run by you and you had seen then standing around. When that horde rogue would sneak in to kill lowbies you knew him, there was a real feeling of hating the other faction. Lots have changed for the better but we have lost so much that made it so unique and great. Damn you Garrisons!!!!!!!

WoW came out a couple months after I was born, and my dad played it from launch. I have so many memories of sitting on his lap, watching him play. I finally got to play for myself in 2009, when I was 5, and my first character that I really played was my dwarf hunter named Kinbair, on Sargeras. I played through the starting area, but was too scared to go through that cave of hostile troggs to enter Dun Morogh. I didn’t play for a month, but my dad was able to get one of his guild mates to run through the little passage with me. I made it out to Kharanos, and I can remember crying because the different pets that were mailed to me for having an authenticator and such were gone because it had been 30+ days since my character was created. My dad emailed blizzard for me and explained my story, and got them to send them back to me. I kept leveling through the zone, I remember the first pet that I tamed was a snow leopard, then the rare spawn polar bear named Bjarn. My dad and I shared the common love for WoW until he stopped playing during Legion, burned out after playing for 12 years. I continued to play casually until BFA, where I really got into the game, joining a guild and using my 10+ years of game knowledge and experience to rise through the ranks, becoming an officer in an adult guild at 16. After a sort of falling out with my guild last spring, I haven’t played the game since, but I will still always love my time playing it, and I will always remember my time as a new, red bearded little dwarf, stepping out into Coldridge Valley for the first time.

I remember that I was imagining big open world pvp events... like in a movie. Lonely wanderer, who comes to rest atop the cliffs of Dun Morogh, you are not alone. As you study the starlit sky and its yawning moon above, in the twinkling quiet of your own thoughts after your guildmates have long since departed for bed. As your thoughts take you beyond the frozen ridges and frosty climes, beyond your adventures, swept up in the soothing undertones of this land, know that there are many who's footprints have long since been snowed over which walked a similar path to you. Wander, for a while, but when the time is right, return.

The undead starting area was really neat, and mulgore was nice although a little boring, but night elf / dwarf / human just blew away shit like durotar.
You can't grasp how amazing the three MMO greats were unless you were there when they came out:
    * UO blew our minds into oblivion with the whole world and playing with other people online which was mind blowing
    * EQ blew our minds with the first raids , being a first person MMO, etc. I played it in my senior year of HS when it first came out and it was amazing
    * WoW took EQ and just dialed it up to an eleven. The dopamine rush from playing wow was just incredible and cannot be described.
Now it is a husk that relies on addiction to keep players at the grinding wheel, rather than incredible experience

Back in the summer of 2007, I was 19 years old. Dun Morogh was where I started with my first WoW character, a dwarf hunter named Fali. I never knew much about the game in technical ways and didn't understand many of the terms used, but I loved the environment and the vibe. It was exactly how I want(ed) this world to be, or at least life after death. I enjoyed the adventure, just running around doing quests, getting better gear, mounts etc. Anyways, I leveled him until 40-42 or so and then had to quit the game because I migrated and didn't have a pc with internet for over 1.5 years. I started playing again in 2012, played for about 2-3 months with a new character, a Night Elf hunter (forgot his name) whom I leveled until 70. Man..good times. Now in my 30s, married and having a full time job, I can't find the time to play anymore, but I've been listening/watching these videos for a good 2 months now and it's SO tempting to just give it another go. I have never felt this connection with any other game. WoW feels like it's living thing, that the type of love and natural connection I have with it. But with WoW you just make/find the time. I HAVE to go back even if it's one last time. BUT this time as Horde 😀
