I'm cautious about the mdf board terrain. I feel like it'll start out in starter sets as a cheap terrain option, then gradually replace real terrain in other sets without the sets getting cheaper to reflect that.
@@alescervinka7501💯, it wouldn’t have been worth the price. MDF terrain is pretty worthless to me. Cool to have for quick games, but I’ll never buy it.
This is my thought as well. In starter sets targeting people's first foray into Warhammer, MDF is a perfectly fine and maybe even preferable choice, so that games can be played with a full board of terrain. Time will tell if GW uses this as a stepping stone to start 'cheaping out' on other terrain while still having prices climb.
That kill team starter set is actually so enticing to me. I hope it's something that sticks around for a while since I plan to see about getting it after Christmas. Especially since my friend who really likes smaller board games says that DG is his favorite army stylistically.
Keep in mind you'll also need the rulebook ($60) + Ops cards ($35) + Equipment sprue ($45). If the new starter set is the same MSRP as the previous one ($100), it means it will cost you $10 more than getting Hivestorm. That sounds like a terrible deal to me.
@@Therockypony I believe the rules are included in the starter handbook. Also the sprue is technically optional if both players don’t have access to it. The ops cards thing is annoying though.
I love the new Starter Set. What I don't love is the (justified) fear that it will be the same price as the previous one, or even more expensive, with MDF terrain. I love the idea of official MDF terrain but it being GW, it scares me.

So based on how signature units are being restricted to units of 3. I wonder if this means Space Wolves are gonna see new Thunder Cav (unit that comes in 3s) or if they are going to make new Wolfguard or Wulfen and restrict them to units of 3?
Apparently the space wolves set will be a larger refresh than the emperor's children, so I'd expect at least two of those to get updated, if not all three.

Nah, they are sure nice but I much prefer Votann. Ironhead design are basically solely focused on just the mining aspect and a bit goofy vibe which is nice for small setting, but would be too limited and niche appeal for big 40k.

MDF terrain instead of plastic and probably the same price or even more expensive than the last starter. GW is cutting costs yet consumer only gets worse deal.
The cost is the point, agreed. If GW does its best, it's very cheap, they can afford it - it's non just the terrain, both teams are only 7 models, and I guess monopose ones, it's very little plastic.
More importantly it’s plastic that has been released before, so they can’t use the development cost into the price. Although with GW it’ll probably be as dear as the last box.
