In my humble opinion, it is alright to disconnect with someone if you don't trust them. It's normal. If it is completely all white people then once in a while possibly one person will earn your trust, then one more. But they should have to earn it.

They didn't give me a physical beating after I grew up but the mental beatings still felt physical throughout school, sports, socializing and oh ... of course they couldn't wait to take advantage of my innocence. I have businesses that in the 80s men tried to sabotage. When I fought back in the same way as men, even other men called it all their names for strong women. I am 64 and I don't really feel a connection to men. Three men proposed over the years but each time, though I felt I loved them, I didn't trust them to do the right things. I ended up buying a house, having a child on my own. She is 27 now. A great young woman.
