They've unveiled the STLA Large platform, designed primarily for Battery Electric Vehicles. This platform will also support hybrid and internal combustion engines.
Stellantis plans to launch eight vehicles using this platform between 2024 and 2026. The STLA Large will debut in North America with Dodge and Jeep brands. Alfa Romeo, Chrysler, and Maserati will follow.
The platform offers single and dual-motor setups, with base models featuring an 85 kWh battery pack. High-spec models will boast a larger 118 kWh pack, aiming for up to 500 miles of range. Fast charging on the 800-volt system can add up to 4.5 kWh per minute.
High-performance electric vehicles on this platform could hit 0-62 mph in just over two seconds. The platform's flexibility is a key feature, allowing for various vehicle sizes and performance levels.
Stellantis is investing over $54 billion to achieve a full electric vehicle lineup in Europe and a 50% mix in the U.S. by 2030. They aim to have 48 electric models on the market by the end of 2024. This ambitious plan includes securing 400 GWh of battery capacity and setting up six battery plants across North America and Europe.
