Back in 86 I remember being miffed when, after all the endless promos, poor Chris would get bumped by some stupid interruption. So good - I miss the early days of Dave.
Thanks for posting this! I hadn't watched Letterman in a while, and I tuned in one night right as Chris was hanging on wires, with a fire extinguisher providing fake jet-pack exhaust, and Peter Allen comes walking on, leaving Chris hanging there. Never knew there was a whole backstory I'd missed!
35 years later and actors still unironically say "I dont know what the clip is they just threw me out here". Chris Elliott was poking fun at how they say that way back when.
I was always too busy Tom catting around as a lad to watch t.v. so I missed all this hilarity. Thanks for posting these gems.Chris Elliott is a national treasure

Great collection! Just an idea to make your descriptions a bit better. You can add time stamps to each promo. Just a simple "1:23" becomes clickable for most users.
You know, and I don't want to make a whole big thing about it or anything, but Chris "Genioplasty" Elliott was a Fabulous Performer and the Raw Guts of the David Letterman Hour. Now I may be mistaken, but I don't believe that I am, Chris is the son of Bill Elliott, the 1983 NASCAR Sprint Car Champion. Some say that Bill cheated to win, or was a big Crybaby, but I think that it's best to reserve judgement until all the facts are in.
I think you'll have a special place in heaven because of all your time and effort compiling these videos. ☺️
Way ahead of it's time, network tv wasn't ready for a badass like the Regulator Guy.

You are doing the lord's work here, my friend. Thank you! My friends still joke about this bit from middle school 30 years ago!
agree
I have "The Omega Men" on blu ray. What a spectacle.
Thanks for posting this!

Still waiting for a Regulator Guy movie
I've been excited for this one since you posted The Fugitive Guy series and I knew this coming! Thank you!
great job Don GIllers I love your collections
I thought Chris Elliot was hilarious as a teen in the 80s, so underrated
Chris turned 22 on May 31, 1982, a few months after Late Night began.
35 years later and actors still unironically say "I dont know what the clip is they just threw me out here". Chris Elliott was poking fun at how they say that way back when.
I enjoyed the Bob Jamieson bit on the 8th Anniversary Special. Didn’t realize they were repurposing tape that was almost five years old by that point.

So tantalizing. I could have watched 100 episodes of this but it just didn't materialize.
10:23 That's got to be his future wife who worked on the show. His daughter Abby looks just like her.
This stuff is too good.
12:30 .. now I want to see Dave's rainy day parade!! Whether it ever really existed or not!!
32:07 A bit of the "Escape From New York" Soundtrack score...
Indeed it is! I can't believe I didn't notice that at the time. EFNY is my favorite movie, and I watched all these bits first-run.
9:40 - a bit of "Road Warrior" soundtrack as well... lol.. We have squirrel tonight, alright?
Iconic score
23:14 I think that I remember when Dave had those (meteorites?) behind him and when the week was over with, they said their goodbyes.
Gold.
congrats on 200k
13:53 Lawrence Grossman left NBC 2 years later. Guess Dave wasn't the only one upset.
How could the show possibly fail with him driving a Sinclair C5?
Highly likely Chris "borrowed" one of Dave's cigars in first segment.
Will you be collecting and posting Chris Elliot's 'Iran/Contra' Letterman ones soon?
I haven’t extracted them yet, so not soon.

I’l presume you’re attempting a joke.
@@dongiller Attempting is the operative word here.
IIRC, 2/12/1986 was Late Night #666. There's a joke in there somewhere.
