Lost my leg to cancer when I was 15. I didn’t apply for a handicapped placard until I was 22. Living in Illinois, with the winters here, snow and crutches do not mix. I owned a red Mustang, and I was young. I would sometimes get older people looking at me when I would pull in. I would be sure to grab my crutches, and pretend there was something on the passenger side. I would crutch on over around the car, they would instantly turn their head away once the saw my leg was missing 😆😆😆

My damage is all invisible. There are days when I can use a placard but I don't have one. There are people that really need them every day that I feel for. When my back injury flairs up I just try to find a parking place close to the store or I will drive to a different store not so busy or come back later.

Good for you ! My daughter is missing her left arm through the elbow. Although she is a kid yet. I know pushing even the kids carts is hard for her at times. And her little arm as she calls it is short so she using it to help push also puts strain on her back. Good to know this for when she is older.

    Keep on keeping on.
Some days are easier than others and some folks don't understand.
Being a monoped, I occasionally use the hangtag but sadly, I have to shop with a chair or scooter because my pegleg hits the buggy.
Also recovered from a broken back, open-heart bypass, cracked skull and various sundry holes from 24 years in the Army.

I think it's a disgrace when people who are fully able bodied park in spaces that you and other people who are dis-abled need. You have a great attitude and a great outlook on life.

I’m left arm amp at the elbow since 2008 and I’ve always have had a handicap tag. I’m from a small town/county and they just renew my tag every 6 years even without a Dr’s signature. I never feel bad or guilty by parking in handicap/disabled spots. If and when someone says something to me I tell them to kiss my ass and flip them off with my Nub

I think you should use it as much as you want but I think you're doing it the right way. On the rough parking lots maybe you can stand on the left side toward the front of the "buggy" so you can kind of pull it and control it while it's by your side? I do that with the Home Depot carts when I have 2x4s on it and found it a lot easier than trying to push it directly forward or having the cart hit my heels when I'm pulling it behind me.

Good for you! I see people using the place card when they don't need it. I have the artificial leg but only use it when I have to.

While I would LOVE to have a cup of coffee with you, I most certainly would not park my car outside on a spot reserved for people with special needs. I also respect people who are entitled to do so, but don't whenever possible. As someone said some time ago: I know I can park there, but I am sure there is someone who needs it even more than I would do. So I am happy with the spot next to it. Respect to people like that.

Your correct people judge what they see on the outside they don’t see the disability that aren’t physically able to be seen. Anyway I try not to judge, however being honest I do slip up sometimes and judge when I see an obese person using one 👎🏽and for that I do apologize anyway as always great video and topic❤️👍🏽stay amazing!

I think if it hursts to push a buggy across asphalt, then you should use the placard for sure!! Those people who think they are here to police the world are messed up!!

'but you are too young/pretty to be disabled!'
I am RBKA, no prosthesis, so getting around on crutches
even when I get my leg, there will be days I need the special space, and there will be days I don't need it
being an amputee is hard, we don't owe nosey people any explanation

I think because you are pretty people assume that you couldn't possibly have a disability. I know that sounds crazy, but people are incredibly judgemental and stupid.
