Media these days don't care about the truth. it's about clickbait

Sadly you're right, and in this situation it probably puts people in danger. As an operator, the thought that my decision to emergency stop a ride could end up on national news and under heavy scrutiny all over social media would certainly make me hesitate at least for a split second, and that can often be too long. Both the parks I've worked at have been very careful to create a culture where an operator will NEVER be in trouble for aborting a ride cycle, even if it was ultimately unnecessary. We've had training days where the entire purpose of the day was to press the e-stop so that we would be familiar with how the ride would respond and we wouldn't be frightened to use the button when necessary.
I worry that this kind of coverage for the Gold Coast parks in particular would sabotage that level of confidence that operators have. It's very important that ride operators are not only trained, but confident enough in their own decision-making to e-stop a ride without hesitation.

Thank you so much for all your work and clear explanation in this video. The next step should be to send this to all media outlets to actually educate them as to what's going on and shut down their fear inducingmentality. Great work and well done wi th explaining exactly what's been happening all these occasions. :)

The sad reality is the media outlets are fully aware these incidents are perfectly safe and expected on occasion. But that doesn't generate them clicks. The media in Australia have hurt our parks so much with the constant intentionally misleading reporting that if I was in charge of either park I would simply start blacklisting these news outlets from all the exclusive access they get.

@@ohnarra I agree. I would also love to see the ACCC or some sort of federal authority start fining the media $10000000000 each time they mislead the public. That'll make them stop really quickly if they're slapped with an unpayable fine, then the energy company cutting power to their newsrooms. Nothing to report, no power!

First thought? "Who's the oxygen thief with the phone holding us up?"
Stopped on Leviathan a few times for that.

Safety doesn't titilate. Potential disaster almost always does.

great video man the media lie and say that its unsafe to sell storys its so annoying. Also though on a ride like green lantern is it possible for the ride to stop upside down because that would be dangerous as the blood would rush to peoples heads.

Great question! The answer is no, that's practically impossible.
All of Green Lantern's block brakes are located in upright, safe locations. You'll notice that ride has two brake runs during the ride. Those are the block brakes, where the ride would stop in the case of any kind of emergency.
The times when Green Lantern, or any other coaster, inverts riders, is always at a high point on the track, so that if the train runs out of speed, it will stall with passengers upright, not upside down. So even if the train did valley for some reason, gravity would ensure you were not upside down :)
Thanks for watching and brilliant question!

What makes me laugh most is that the same media that overhypes the dangers of all sorts of things, will then bemoan how people are too scared to do anything slightly risky.
