  • This video is part two of our three-part series on preparing for your Green Card Marriage Interview Questions. (In case you missed Part 1 of this series on what green card marriage questions you might be asked at your interview: • Your Green Card Marria... )
    This video is produced by Immigration Attorney Carlos Batara, www.bataraimmigrationlaw.com
    We continue our review of the inquiries you may need to answer in your interview for permanent residence with a U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) officer.
    In this video, we will cover questions that might surface in your immigration marriage interview about the following four areas of your marital relationship: (a) questions about your wedding and marriage, (b) questions about your kitchen, (c) questions about your bedroom, and (d) questions about what you did the day before, the two days before, the week before you permanent residency marriage interview.
    You might say to yourself, “Why prepare for my green card marriage interview? This is easy stuff.”
    Don’t be too sure.
    By the end of this video, I hope that you’ll realize these tips for your family-based adjustment of status interview are not something to avoid. Rather, embrace them as a green card interview guide because the questions you are asked could be much, much harder than you ever imagine.
    To refresh your recollection, in the first video, we talked about inquiries into how you and your spouse met, your employment and your spouse’s employment, your current home, and special family days.
    Here is the link to video 1 on the types of marriage green card questions you could be asked: • Your Green Card Marria...
    If you haven’t watched the first video, you may want to pause this video, and go back and watch part 1 of this series, Then return to this video, as you’ll be able to better grasp how these various topical areas fit together.
    In that video, I briefly mentioned that not every couple is forced to go through an intensive immigration interview question and answer session about marriage. When this happens, this is referred to as a Stokes Interview.
    So much of the advice in this three-part series can be utilized as a Stokes marriage interview guide, and will help you prepare for the government's marriage-based immigration fraud questioning.
    As I note throughout these videos, if your permanent residency application, the I-485 adjustment of status application is bona fide, is real, is legitimate, this part of the permanent resident process should be easy for you . . . granted you prepare.
    In other words, when couples have to endure the lengthier inquiries, the interview is usually based on a suspicion of immigration fraud, i.e., immigration marriage fraud.
    Here is a link to a more complete list of matters which the government often raises as part of their green card marriage questioning: www.carlosbatara.com/services/...

      I don't handle many Los Angeles cases, so I am not sure about their denial rate. The ones that I have handled were successfully granted. But given my court experiences in Los Angeles, I have noticed a lot of folks who were not prepared adequately.

      @@cat-lw6kq it's okay to marry for companionship. the USCIS will only object if the marriage is a sham and you don't live tgether and don't care about each other, you just did it for a green card. marriages take all forms, but a sham marriage is not a marriage and not a basis for a green card. and anyway, marriage just saves a few years. if you are here for 5 years you can still apply for a green card, a marriage just means you can apply right away.

    • @BataraImmigrationLaw

      This is the type of situation where the couple is likely to be tested quite heavily regarding the authenticity of their marriage. But it can be done successfully. You will need to spend a fair amount of time carefully thinking about the type of evidence you can provide to the government to prove your marriage is not fraudulent.

      Such cases are not as uncommon as you might think. However, it is your best interests to seek out a local lawyer to go over the details of your situation before you start the immigration process.

    Carlose gm what if a guy married a girl from another country and when she came to the usa she live with him for two months and one day she pack her close and moved out with her daughter, note he brough her daughter too the same time, he didnt adopt the daughter. However the moved to another state without telling him is he still has to support them? What she did is more like desertion.

    Hi Mr Carlos, thank you so much for the valuable information. My question to you is that; I have a GC-EAD and I wanna travel overseas, do you think it’s okay to travel without any issues at the border protection?? If so, is there any specific documents I have to carry with me when I travel?

    • @BataraImmigrationLaw
      @BataraImmigrationLaw  6 лет назад

      When one travels abroad, even if he or she is in legal status, one has to be careful. This is especially true if there are some issues which could affect your re-entry. You might want to meet with a local immigration lawyer to go over if it is safe for you to travel abroad.

    Me , my wife and 2 kids live with her mom and dont have joint accounts or bills except cell and car insurance together does that help ? Or do we have to have joint accounts and all the stuff ?

    • @BataraImmigrationLaw
      @BataraImmigrationLaw  5 лет назад +3

      Do your best to explain your story. Why do you live with your mother? Why don't you have joint accounts? If you can explain those types of issues, and support it with good evidence, your chances of success improve.
