Me too! I was wondering why the fingers wasn't matching up with the tab.
@@mikeking453 They do match with the tab. The lowest line doesn't mean lowest note available. You count top down. It would throw me off more if the tab was showing me 5 lines and not 4. Because it's only a 4 string set of music.

To all my fellows who are asking “why don’t you play the same notes as shown in the tabs?”
That’s because Standard tuning features the same notes on different strings, for example, D string at the fifth fret has the same note that the G has while played opened, if you go two frets higher on each strings the notes will still be the same(A).
As shown in the beginning, he plays the A string on the 12th fret instead of 7th on the D string.
I don’t know if I’m making myself clear enough but hopefully this is going to help somebody else, you don’t have to hit the exact same notes shown on a tab, tabs are just examples and references.

7th fret on A string [E], and then 7th fret on low B string [F#]
On a four-string, I just play the low E open, and then 2nd fret on the low E for the F@#
@@DrumWild or E in A string...then F# in E string

I have a RUSH bass book with tabs and the one I have has way different tabs than the way you played it, is my book crap? Where do you get your tabs, are they the way Ged plays it, or just the way you play it?

Why are you moving your left hand so much during the intro? You don't appear to be playing what the tabs say, which is making it very confusing.
(Example: at 0:28 you appear to be on the 12th fret of the A string instead of the 7th fret of the D string).
tab is just for reference, notes are the same..

Not a music guy, but why does Neal's version sound sharper? Does playing with a pick vs. fingers make that much difference?
It absolutely can. Pick tone is inherently sharper than fingerstyle.

Geddy Lee doesn't use a pick, he uses his fingernails to get the really twangy tone on bass similar to how a flamenco guitarist would
